Hello!
Yesterday's 3.5 hour presentation to our new residents might have went well. I remember little. DianeO, again, my condolences to your daughter who is in chart of 9. Don't get me wrong, they are super bright and (this time of year) attentive and friendly. But, exhausting.
Unexpectedly long work day yesterday, one of our maternity moms isn't back when planned. I hope she and babe are ok. In the meantime, we all pitch in.
Cecily, your aunt is like another complication. Maybe if she had a Damnit Doll to abuse she could leave others alone. Peps, you are a puppy whisperer....those people are so lucky to have you to make decisions. (I bet the romantic fella will come to find that arranged pairings are the best, after all. And then there will me a movie. Or a facebook slideshow that starts with the three of you)
I like it when Carbon and I have similar weather. Sun in the forecast. I have a couple of hike possibilities picked out for tomorrow on the Peninsula. I need a better forest service paper map, tho. (Rei will provide.)
That reminds me, I hope you all know how to download offline maps on your apple device. So, freakin useful, even for forest roads. But, not perfect....gotta have (more) paper esp when the forest service seems to have all roads in an area named FS-27. ALL OF THEM!
Hmmmm, food. What do I have to say? How about this: of course intuitive eating is a diet. What one eats is always a diet! If nothing else, it is a restrictive lifestyle. To each their own, of course. Do what works, til it doesn't. Then pivot. Repeat.
Soak in Mother Nature unless it frying egg hot or tornados. Then duck and cover.

Shel, I appreciate your remembrance of and homage to The Damnit Doll!
LOL!
Looking back, that incident seems like a darkly hilarious movie scene. Which, of course, it would be.
Hmmm ... the screenplay?

Hello ! Yesterday got away from me !! Sadie and I walk with a wonderful, *****y, retired Army veteran, 78 year old permanent resident at VA housing every Monday morning at 8 AM. She has little family and has lived on base for twenty-four years. She can be cantankerous, and has earned THE FROG on her door, for being agitated/striking out. (Indicates to staff to tread carefully and give her wide berth.) She absolutely LOVES Sadie and has been working to improve her behavior so her walking privilege isn't revoked. Part of the base is a huge National cemetery with tens of thousands of Vets from the Spanish American & Civil wars forward. The cemetery is on top of a steep hill. The graves are precisely aligned and command awe, especially when an American flag is placed on each on Memorial Day, 4th of July, and Veterans' Day. Amalia LOVES motoring up there and has little awareness of the exertion required. I have to be careful about Sadie (hot pavement, availability of shade and opportunities to rest) in this HOT weather. Amalia is referred to as "the Mayor", and waves to/speaks with everyone and anyone we encounter. There were some grounds people picking up twigs around a site being prepared for a burial today, and she thanked them for their pride in making things perfect for the family. We walked 7,345 steps yesterday and I continue to be inspired by the shift I see in her when she focuses on others. (Cecily.. I'd bottle and send to your Aunt of I could !)
I have a massage today, and we are under flood watches due to all of the rain. Looking forward to more onions and tomatoes from my garden. If any of you have a great recipe for a veggie burger, please share !
Thought for the day... Channel Amalia ( Carbon, and the rest of this family) to see the good in others, and take the time to connect. Just like Reiki energy, it comes back three fold !!

Thank goodness they are great kids! I'm so glad you are enjoying them.
Weight 119.6, calories (who the heck knows). Most of dinner cooked by DS last night was fish: scallop ceviche, lobster meat, oysters, shrimp, seared and blackened scallops with Parmesan/red pepper/plum risotto. WOW! One of those well worth eating meals with our company (and an extra few friends). It was a fun night and DS's birthmom came as well so we were able to talk about her upcoming wedding at the end of August.
Today, I think we will be floating around the pond around the corner with our friends. The wife has sun poisoning so is afraid to go into the sun at the ocean, but wants to go swimming (the pond beach has sun and shade). It is supposed to be a decent day, though still very humid.
Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

Cecily, it sounds like you're mapping out the Aunt Problem and a way to deal with her that works for everyone. Good for you! And Carbon, you sound so happy about your summer visitors who have brought much joy! Plus they're giving you a mid-visit break, which is a very good thing. :) Paula, yesterday I was thinking of you on your first day back to work since Ben died. And I'm also thinking of everyone else -- your presentations, freckles, summer visitors, babies and grandchildren, lawns, doggies, and all your intuitive, mindful, and other eating and diet ruminations.
Yes, Peps, my lunch yesterday at a favorite gastropub (owned by a Brit, by the way) was indeed Southern Chic. I like those kinds of small treats and brief breaks from my daily "ascetic" meals, which, actually, aren't all that ascetic. And then I always come home missing my veggies and fruits. And feeling the need to hydrate, because I don't drink a lot of water while driving, running around shopping and running errands.
This is the fourth day I've weighed the exact same weight. This doesn't happen often, and when it does I imagine my body saying, "OK, girl, chill! Those five pounds I dropped last week are really going to stay off. So calm down now and stay the course." By which she (my body) means: "This is NOT the right time to celebrate your weight loss with treat foods."
Today I'll be working outdoors a lot, still mowing and cleaning up after my latest holiday. This weekend company is coming, and I want the place to be as pretty as possible, given the repair work still happening here.
BTW, did I mention (I can't remember!) that I have to get a new roof, thanks to hail damage discovered during the current painting and porch repairs project? Yesterday while I was gone to The Big City, the insurance adjustor came out and, according to my contractor, sympathetically agreed that the roof does need to be replaced. It turns out that those expensive 50-year-guarantee kinds of roofs that are resistive to sun and rain damage (which we installed 15 years ago when we built the place) are no more resistive to hail damage than less expensive roofs. Gee, who knew! Live and learn.
Today's theme: Stay the course. :)
