My Dad's family came for the summer every year when he was growing up. His mom and sister and he would stay the whole time and his dad would take the train up on the weekends from Cincinnati.

Now my Dad and I are joint owners of the property (there are two houses - one big, one smaller cottage that I live in) and he lives here most of the year.

One day I might move here full time!

Beautiful over there- spent some quality time 'round Sleeping Bear Dunes- my childhood vacation was userally spent on crystal clear Lake Margrethe- by Grayling--wild blueberries--pan fish and fighting pike.

Greetings Sunday Intuitive Eaters

Well still at 150 and not feeling very intuitive. Another set of rules to fail at. Not feeling very optimistic but then I am only 1/2 cup of coffee into the day.

Yesterday was a long day at the gallery and I ate quite a bit of beef jerky. As a result I wasn't very hungry for dinner and ate a bowl of summer squash with a bit of parmesan cheese. Sometimes I just want to eat a bowl of veggies with cheese.

LOL Shel, the glee of "no dairy means no ice cream". Seems like when anyone has gut problems the first thing doctors say is no dairy. Hope it helps your DH. The second thing they say is "its stress". Great. Get rid of stress and ice cream. Stress and ice cream go together like salt and pepper.

Great hike pictures Shel. I see that Lonely Planet has a new book - something like the world's most awesome hikes - that you should get. Your ability to do those goat trails is remarkable!

Cecily, speaking of stress, 5 more days of Aunt Blabby sure rates high on the stress meter. You could take her to the movies but I bet she is one of those people who talks through them.

Diane O, sorry its a funeral that gets you together with people. Its always fun to see folks who had not seen you post weight loss. Good of you to make the trip.

Liz, sorry for your SIL. Is this the one who has trouble organizing anything? Your SIL needs to make a life away from her DH but that might be hard if she is not outgoing or self starting.

Ann, since when do you have to wrangle stray bulls? Thats about as much fun as dealing with the insurance adjustor.

Gosh Carbon, you are tired already and the guests are yet to arrive!! Makes me tired just thinking of it.

Well I have some lovely Canadian bacon and a single ear of corn for dinner (for the two of us). Thats my intuitive eating - half an ear of sweet corn. At least its gluten free and has fiber.

No plans for the day other than laundry, chores and maybe some studio time. And another cup of coffee that my intuition is telling me to have. Diane S

Nope, this is the SIL married to the brother of the disorganized SIL. I was realizing today that out of 5 children in DH's family, 3 are alcoholics: the oldest BIL who is deep in the throes, SIL who is a "functioning " alcoholic, and youngest BIL who is a reformed alcoholic. Only DH and the next BIL down have escaped it. There was a lot of alcoholism in MIL's family though she was not. I'm super sensitive to it because of my experiences growing up with an alcoholic mother. I feel like I'm surrounded by them sometimes... Which is why I limit my wine intake. Tonight was my 3rd night out to dinner in a row (got to love company), so I didn't have any wine with dinner (2 nights in a row was enough).

Ha! She doesn't listen well so movies would likely entail a lot of loud, "what was that?"s!

I was up and reading early enough this morning, and then the day took off. After church DS#2 came over and we made tahini and then used the tahini to make some nummy hummus. Asher cut up a sweet onion into what looked like frito scoop chips and they made a wonderful combination taste treat. Sent the leftover hummus home with DS as I like it too well. Healthy stuff but certainly not so much in the quantities I could consume.

149.4 this morning.

Two weeks and a day till school. Golly and shoot, my time has somewhat been taken up with a series of diagnostic tests and pictures--seems there is a (what I call) a freckle on my pancreas and said tests have postponed my glorious road trip, time has run out. Pooh.

What? You are almost back to work? (Plz refresh my memory, retirement didn't agree with you so you are back in the schools?).

In the Seattle area, kids don't even start summer brea****il the 3rd week of June! My internal calendar has never been able to get used to that....I grew up with out by Memorial Day.

I'm sorry about the freckle. Best wishes ending up with nothing more than dashed summer trip.

From your post to God's ears on the freckel, thank you. Endoscopy on the 31st.

Yah, about the retirement--officially ret. Oct. 2014. Disagreed on two levels- 1. All the time in the world to me means no time spent doing the many things I wanted to do because, having all the time in the world ended up meaning tomorrow, which never comes. (I function better under a little bit of structure). 2. All that extra time allowed me to truly practice my addictions 24/7. yah, and I got real good at them. Great idea---NOT>

So when I chose to get clean and sober, as it were, structuring my time in a more productive and healthy way sent me back to school.
