Weight 117.6, calories 1345. Calories need to drop again to average out the early part of this week. And of course we have company again on the weekend.

I hope those of you in the US have a good day celebrating. I think we are going to a cookout at a friends in the afternoon later, but maybe a little beach time before that?

We are supposed to go on a sailing charter on Friday but the forecast is looking bleak with severe thunderstorms most of the day to break the heat wave we have been having. Oh well...

ETA: I forgot to mention that Chiquita (almost 17) had what was apparently a syncope episode yesterday (fainted). This is her second, the first occurring a few weeks ago next to her bed. The one yesterday was while on an early evening walk. She really wanted to go but maybe it was too warm/humid for her even though it had cooled down? She fell over on the road onto her side with her legs out stiff and her eyes closed. I picked her up to carry home not knowing if maybe this was it for her. In about 30-60 seconds she opened her eyes and wanted to be changed into her normal carry position, though she still had hanging legs on the way back, then slept for a while in her bed. An hour later she was up eating voraciously! She does have a pretty significant heart murmur these days, so I assume it is her heart.

Happy 4th! Have a Happy Hump Day (Wednesday)!

147.6 ?Whaaaat!!

Liz, I'd love to see some of those showers. For that matter, I'd love to see some of that beach! And, thinking about Ann and all the wonderful sights to be seen...and the beauty our own intrepid hiker sees as she traverses the surface of this wonderful world. I was thinking as DH and I were driving home from the dentist- (everyplace is 15-35 minutes away down country roads) just how lucky I have been to have such a view every time I need a gallon of milk or something. Yep, God bless our beautiful America!

Cecily- I so hope you made it through your grueling day yesterday. Sometimes just knowing "this, too shall pass" is about all we can do. Showers and regular undies--Whoop! Simple things we take for granted. With all your bathrooms- you must have one like this:

No big fireworks and (thank you) accompanying noise here. DS#2 over for a little grilling. DH glued to Wimbledon. Pie crust in the makings today. Discovered last summer that Zucchini is one in the same as apples when made up into pie timber. No kidding, you cannot tell them apart! Any holiday is DH's excuse to make ice-cream and I think the mock apple will go well with it. Unfortunately, Zucchini in a pie does not make it WLfriendly....pooh.

Today, extend extravagant grace everywhere and to everyone (including your self) just because.

Yah, the scale thing blows me away---who knows tomorrow, but today I am the recipient of amazing grace.

Re the pic- well, fly spies with cameras, of course.

Wouldn't that be nice?! I have a lot of bathrooms, but they are all builder's special bathrooms. One of these days, I'm going to redo my master and make it fancy!

Good morning! Happy 4th to all of you, whether it is a national holiday or not.

Liz and Carbon, you are twinsing the last couple of days with identical posting times! Plus, both of you with company coming!

For me, I overslept and missed my workout so I will have to pay a 12 dollar penalty. I might try to go to a later class but honestly my body is tired and I should probably skip it. (There. My uncertainty just fell away. I shall skip.)

My Camp Muir on Rainier hike is on Saturday! I don't want to be tired for that, either.

DianeS, my DH would so use that expired in 2012 cough syrup! I hope you feel better...it sounds like an epic super cold. I'll be playing with my little emergency device today. No, you can't butt dial the thing and yes there is some sort of test texts allowed ---- 5 free per month, I think.

I'm adding a few more pics from last weekend's hike. Let's play "where's the trail" in the first picture....I am on the trail, looking ahead at the trail. Can you see the trail??? Answer below the pic.

Did you find the trail? If not, look for the pile of smaller rocks slightly left of center. That cairn draws the hiker forward. Once closer, you look for the next cairn to aim for.

But, most of the hike wasn't that exposed and bouldery. In the pic below, the path below is on the right, temporarily joining a stream....rocks are just high enough to keep water out of boots.

The trail in the section below is rather obvious. Lovely, but just a bit claustrophobic.

And below, we have someone that had nothing to do with that hike. He is simply a good boy, my Buster-boy. May we all find happiness today. Shel

Shel, you are more of a mountaineer than a mere hiker!

I looked at a website for a guided Mt Rainier summit......there should be a fitness test just to look at the website! I am no mountaineer, for sure. (Still, I am intrigued.....)

I do think that the hikes around here promote proprioception....a particular deficit of mine. If nothing else, I think I am better at picking up my feet so I am less likely to trip.
