Greetings Wednesday Wonders
Still hovering at 149.5. Wish I were hovering at a lower number but wishing won't make it so.
Cecily hope you get to the doctor today. All this talk of embolisms and collapsed lungs is scary. As per Auntie Shel and Uncle Dave, better to check it out.
Paula how good of you to check in. Think of this as your safe and warm place to visit whenever you need to. When I did legal work it always stuck me as sad that after a loved one passes there are all these busy work chores to be done when people least feel like it. Don't hesitate to ask for help with all that stuff. Glad there is no financial emergency. Peace to you and family.
Liz so sorry you had an awful day yesterday. Glad your son is ok. Definitely get thee to the beach, with Justice if possible.
Ann what fun in your little town. Hope the "Venice Veteran" had some good suggestions for you. How well you are doing in this phase of life. Good on you.
Miss 150, sorry for Calvin kitty. No fun saying goodby.
Botox?! Well I have no issues with the stuff except some people seem to overdose on it. SIL went to a church service in southern cal when we were at nephews wedding. She said the church was full of "wax" people - all fake looking from fillers and such. I've kind of wanted a face lift for awhile but just can't get beyond the surgery recovery. I had a consult once but thats about it. At least in our damp foggy climate we are a little less wrinkle prone. Or so I delude myself.
DH is getting a cold. He normally has a beautiful rich voice. Now he sounds like an alien version of James Earl Jones. Or the robot on the new Lost in Space.
Going to the shrink today who just monitors my meds. I always feel like I have to plan something to talk about. Like its a performance or something.
Diane O, wouldn't it be great if there was some kind of dog pee resistant grass? That would be a good use of GMO - like round up ready grain. I am not a fan of GMOs but this might be an exception. Our dogs are little so their pee doesn't seem to make spots. But then again our yard is more like a wild meadow of weeds.
Yesterday I was grinding coffee at the natural foods store. A lady came up and asked which coffee I was getting. Then she began to interview me about the various coffees. This store has about 40 kinds. I told her I hadn't tried most of them as I was fixated on this one. It was funny - how did she know what a fiend I am on coffee?
Speaking of which, time for more. Diane S
So on the subject of mystifying weight gain and loss ... today at physical therapy I met a lovely 17-year-old, Melissa, who's recovering from ACL surgery. She mentioned she is 5'11" and plays basketball and softball and runs track. In other words, she's still immortal.
As a member of that infamous Southern family of women with no social filters, I asked her how much she weighs. She said 165 pounds and added:
"But after surgery I got down to 145 pounds. I lost SO much muscle I couldn't believe it!"
"Wow! You lost 20 pounds of muscle. How long did it take to lose all that?"
"One week," she said.
To which I said, "****!"
To which she responded, "No ****!"
So my point is ... Shel, maybe your recent weight gain is due to the Mount Everest training you've been doing for a long time? Maybe this is like the two pounds I couldn't lose after my much weenier weight lifting this past spring at physical therapy.
Ya think maybe?

I love my new doctor! I texted him last night and he got back to me minutes later to say he could see me at 1 today.
If there is no named general law similar to Murphy's Law for the phenomenon of your ailment that you thought might kill you vanishing just before your appointment, let's name it Cecily's Law. At 11:45 am, after a terrible and painful night's sleep, my back just let go and I could breathe again. I went to my appointment anyway and he said my lungs sound clear, but he?s running a D-Dimer (sp?) test and sent me for a chest X-ray.
Just had the chest X-ray. It doesn't feel great when they look at the films and tell you not to leave before a Radiologist looks at it. Cross your fingers.
Whew! Cleared to leave.
