Greetings Tuesday Terrifics
Terrific is a word that got really worn out in the 90's. Time to bring it back. Or not.
Weight was not so terrific. 149.5. Could have been worse. Actually everything could be a lot worse so life is pretty good. Dinner last night was some bacon, half an avocado and cherry tomatoes. Simple and yummy.
Carbon so glad to hear you have reached your milestone of no pain after a hike. Darned knees - only two to a customer and they are supposed to last forever and get constant use. For me I think its going to be hips someday. But its so good you can get back to your beloved walks even if the end reward is not so good Thai food. We don't have any thats very good either. Wish you could sleep better.
I knew it Ann you would study Italian. We went a couple of years ago to the lake district and our guide tried to teach us some. I remember nothing. But I think I will start in with the French for fun. Took a year of German in jr. high and learned nothing. Glad you get the rain. I used to find thunderstorms comforting as a kid and sleep inducing. Your comment on it being uncool to not keep up with friend**** a note. Must do some of that.
Gallery duty was kind of slow yesterday. Nice visitors but not much in the way of sales. At least I got a few steps in walking to the bank and from the fact that we have to park some distance away because of the parking police around the town center. People who work on the Plaza just go move their cars every couple of hours; just rearranging the problem.
Liz the story telling around a picture sounds like fun and a good exercise for all. Sorry for the woman whose husband became violent.
BB, sorry Becca is fussing. Probably too soon for teething? Yeah, pizza really hits the spot sometimes and there is no substitute. Maybe I will make ricotta bake tonight since I have the stuff for it.
Time to get an agenda for the day. Gallery duties, banking, errands and art all await. So does coffee. Diane S
Good morning from beautiful (?) Glendale, CA! Hey Cecily, wanna have lunch??? hahaha.... Not exactly sure where you are, but I'm sure it would take me 4-5 hours to get there. The traffic around here is something else! Shee****he greater LA basin would be a very difficult place for me to get used to living. The travel planning just to get from one local place to another around here is really quite challenging. Sort of love the live traffic apps. The one I used today saved me from getting snarled in a massive jam due to a minor fender bender on I5.
No weight today and of course, I have not tracked my food intake since I left on Thursday. I am sitting in a diner attached to a Days Inn. Had two eggs over easy, and a rather thin slice of ham steak, a few bites of the potatoes, and an English muffin. When I have eggs over easy I can eat more than if the yolks are fully cooked. Sneaky Pete, here!
I did not sleep well, and neither did Tank. He probably slept most of the way down here, but since I was driving, I could not. I don't think I've had more than 3-4 hours of sleep. Hopefully, I can squeeze a nap in somewhere between now and the time Tank is ready to be picked up at the vet. (Yes, like Diane, I drove hours and hours to take Tank to the vet that specializes in his little issue... 353 miles, a six hour drive with no traffic...Oh, for the love of dogs..... If I did not spend money on dogs, I could have really quite lovely vacations! LOL! Personal choice, of course....)
Not sure yet what I will do with the rest of my day. The LA Zoo looks promising, but being tired takes some of the appeal away.
Something for me to ponder is this: why is traveling a permission slip to eat like crap? It never fails that when I travel - car, plane, train, I want to nibble, nibble, nibble (and not on carrots and celery). A good topic to discuss in therapy, I believe.
Later, Peeps!
Yes, the road trip weird eating behavior. Very familiar wirh that phenomenon. All that's available usually is fast food, even if you sit down in a corporate or franchise preprepped, over-preserved, microwaved food joint.
Freeways and interstates and airports are definitely healthy food deserts.

You're "only" 46 miles away! Could take an hour, could take two. Of course, it'll take that long to get to the zoo probably. Pasadena isn't that far away for you and has a nice little downtown to walk around (lots of chain stores though). Huntington Library is gorgeous has amazing gardens. That's in San Marino.
So is Tank having his nards worked on or looked at? When do you head back?

Weight 155.2 Amazing what just one day of low carb can do! I peed about 20 times. Very inconvenient when you are wearing a compression suit, but it dropped my weight quite rapidly. The meals are far more veggie intensive than I would choose for myself, and makes me think I'm not the veggie lover I consider myself, but that's probably good for me. The protein is up in the 20s to 30s.
I got my hair colored this morning and looked through my hairdresser's pictures of her trip to Thailand. I think I would be quite happy skipping Thailand in my travels after the picture show. Maybe there are better places she didn't get to visit, but it just looked hot, wet, and crowded. And there was a pic of an ENORMOUS scorpion in their hotel, so that's enough to keep me out of the country.
I woke up around 4 this morning with what I'm self-diagnosing as a pulled intercostal rib muscle or something. Every deep breath hurts in my mid-side-back and a little around to the front. If I involuntarily take a really deep breath because I'm breathing pretty shallowly to avoid pain, it hurts up into my shoulder. It doesn't hurt to move, just breathe. My breathing otherwise isn't worrisome. Does this sound like anything more serious to anyone else?
I'm thinking of taking a leftover Percoset or Valium and seeing if the pain goes away. And then napping as that stuff knocks me out.
We need Dave!
Anyone who had surgery in the last several weeks is at some risk for blood clots. Plus, you have been pretty immobile a lot of that time. Of course that is worst case. Google pulmonary embolism and keep those symptoms in mind. You don't have to have them all.
You should know that I talk to people with blood clots (new and old) for a good part of my day, everyday. I see blood clots everywhere. I am not reliable at predicting who has them or not. But, your doctors are, so use them if you need.
You know to never, ever use Percocet and Valium together, right? Never, ever, ever. (I saw that you used "or" not "and" so your probably already know). I just got home from work so I see trouble everywhere (if only I had valium...)
Taking off my pharmacist's hat now.....

Thank you!! Yes. They drilled it into me that they both have acetaminophen in them so it's either or. I went Valium thinking it's more muscle relaxer, but it still hurts to breathe deeply. I think I'll run in and see my doctor tomorrow to make sure I'm just being a hypochondriac. I was thinking it read more like a partially collapsed lung via Google (doctors must hate Google) - sharp pain in the mid back with deep breathing that radiates to the shoulder on the same side (right).
I'll look up pulmonary embolism to scare myself really good before bed!
Now you have entered an opioid appt with me. Lucky you!
The most important part is that you don't use them both. But, the reason isn't related to Tylenol. (Valium is just valium, no Tylenol in it at all)
They both carry "respiratory depression" as a potential side effect. That is when the drug tells the brain that the patient no longer needs to breathe so you simply stop breathing. Next comes death. That's how the overdose kills. So, it is a side effect where the consequence is death.
Many MANY overdoses have those two drug families involved, esp when alcohol is used as well.
Sweet dreams ;)
PS, you shall be fine! Taken individually, at recommended doses, you aren't going to have respiratory depression!!!
