Greetings Summer People

149 today. I'll take it. Yep, maintenance is indeed a daily thing like breathing. Not a destination or task that is ever completed. Sort of like mowing. Its never finished.

Lots of good thoughts Ocean Diane. Why does it seem to take 50 or 60 years to learn these basic truths? I don't remember anyone trying to teach me stuff like this when I was young. I probably wasn't listening. Too busy worrying about being fat.

Liz sorry your uncle is acting up. Hope it gets straightened out by the time you get home. Interesting that you sensed that something was wrong but not surprising. We have all had those vibes that turned out to mean something.

Not much on the calendar today. My studio needs a good cleaning. So dusty and junky in there. Maybe I will start on that. DH goes to lunch in the big city today with his buddies so he gets to drive the electric car - his big thrill.

BB having two dogs with house training issues must be tough when added to a baby in diapers. Not sure I have any sage advice other than crate training. But that takes some time and energy which you don't have extra right now. Maybe there is an area in your yard where you could put in a kennel run for the dogs to be outside for a few hours at a time? Ultimately, poop has to be picked up no matter where it is deposited. When I lived in the midwest I had a service that came once a week and picked up dog poop from the yard. Worth the cost.

Carbon, how is your knee doing? Cecily how are your incisions? Keep on healing my friends.

Fish and broccoli for dinner last night. Boy do I know how to stink up the kitchen.

Dave, hope you had a great birthday.

Not much going on here. Guess I had better find some mischief. But coffee first. Diane S

Still healing! I saw a small new spot near an older open spot that is leaking a bit, but sizewise it's so small compared to the others, I just can't get worked up about it. Slapped some honey on it and moved on. 3 of the older waist ones are starting to granulate (they get red spots in them where the lowest layers of skin start to build, so that's a good sign.

First let me say thank you for everyone wishing me a happy birthday. I thought I was 62 going on 63 but was reminded that I am only 61 by a friend of my same age. So I actually grew younger this year. I did about the same thing in my 30s. DS#1 fixed homemade enchiladas for a birthday supper. I had never had them. They were wonderful.

Adalyn spent the night with us last night. She is feeling better. We slept til after 8.

Farming and mowing have kept me busy lately. The farming consists of driving in an air conditioned cab planting grass seed. It has been very hot even with the AC. I overheated one day. Happened so quick. The rain over the past couple of days was greatly needed. Every drop has soaked up and the ground is still dusty.

BB- my experience with older dogs is that I had to train myself to offer the dogs every opportunity to go outside. Our pit is not really house trained. We got her when she was 3. She does have a doggie door so mostly goes outside. It was raining last night and she pooped in the shop. She is scared of storms. Big difference from wood shop to your house as far as accidents go.

Carbon- Lots of loss and tragedy. Life does go on. We are impacted. But it goes on.

Cecily- Hope the healing continues. Once the granulation tissue forms it is amazing how fast it can heal.

Diane O.- so frustrating to feed your dogs what you think is healthy and then have to go to the vet ER. We have been dealing with some food issues too. Our part Havenese was chewing his legs raw. Vet said it was food allergies. $50 for #20 bag of hypoallergenic food. It worked but we don?t have that in our budget long term. I made dog food for a couple of months and he loved it. And no reactions. It is labor intensive. Have tried other foods but they turned their nose up at it. It is sad to watch your puppy go for 2 or 3 days with a full dog dish. And with dogs you never know what they eat outside. Maybe our dog is allergic to armadillo or deer poop.

Diane S- Cleaning is not at all creative. I have to stop and clean then go back to being creative. But it has to be done at some point. Good advice on the financial affairs. I tell my mom to spend it all. She has enough to live where she is living until she is 99. She just turned 87. I need to follow your advise.

Liz-Hope you are enjoying your travel to the fullest. Sorry DH has been sad lately. I had years of sadness after a nervous breakdown. I am sure I was no fun to be around. Sounds like you gave him hope by saying you both can still enjoy life. A little hope goes a long way. The beach pics are beautiful.

Miss150, thanks for sharing yesterdays post. Going to re read. Childhood messages can really mess you up. My dad was a preacher and I thought that if I did not obey everything he said I was disobeying God directly.

Paula - (((Hugs)))

Peps - Pup petting in the night. Great way to wake up. Yes, ?We are all in a continual state of maintenance?

Shel - You say you are still slow on your hikes. I am not sure I could even live through your hikes. Keep up the training for your 60s 70s and beyond.

VSG Ann- I enjoyed the birthday cake pic. No calories. Packing without taking everything is an art form. Hope you enjoy your trip

More later, David

Mmm, enchiladas... I grew up going to a Catholic school from pre-school to 8th grade where many of the nuns were from Mexico so we had a lot of homemade Mexican food for our daily hot lunches. They made awesome enchiladas among other things. (We won't speak of the sides of canned peaches in heavy syrup that cake with them which we all referred to as 'goldfish').

I'm so pleased to hear that granulation means it might go faster from here!!!!
