06/14/18, Flag Day

People do come out of the woodwork when a spouse passes. My Mom died on 12/30 and my Dad was asked out on a date to a Super Bowl party a month later by a woman he really dislikes. His answer? "No. Her ashes aren't even cold yet." I love my Dad!

Hello from Slug-dom!

I must be catching up on some needed sleep. That is the only explanation I have. I stayed in bed today until almost 10 am!

So glad Sadie and Atlas are on the mend.

Liz, I'm sorry the Alzheimer's med trial was a bust, but I believe that because brain "disease" is on the rise as our population continues to age, there will not be a trend to research fewer drugs. On the contrary, I think memory research and research for drugs that prevent memory loss will continue to flourish. There is money to be made in that arena and where there is money to be made there will always be people willing to find the path to that money!

Yesterday evening I felt summer wash over me. A mild breeze kicked up as the sun began its 7 o'clock descent towards the hills that block us from the bay. The day's heat began to dissipate and I was sitting outside drinking iced tea chatting with my BFF on the deck under the oak and black walnut trees. I got up to turn on the grill and get our dinner started. That's when it hit. I loved how that calm, casual relaxed feeling just washed right on over me. Such a peaceful feeling!

Perhaps I expect too much of myself when it comes to chores. I got a lot done yesterday, but didn't do ALL of what I planned to do. Maybe a little lowering of daily expectations are in order.

Wondering how Ben is doing and hope Paula is doing okay, too.

Part of the magic of summer break for me is that the days can flow seamlessly from one to another - not like school days which are fragmented and meeting set objectives to feel successful. What gets done, gets done...all is cool...just one long and gloriously summertime day. No stress. Enjoy.

Greetings Peaceful People

Lets hope its that kind of day for all. 149.5 today so no gain from last night's art meeting/****tail party. I managed to snarf all the crumbs of the pita chips. Good thing I was not sitting near the food table. The presentation went well (I did nothing) and I am hopeful the new point of sale system will work.

I am so glad Atlas and Sadie are on the mend. Did they ever decide exactly what it was? We buy bags of chicken from costco and keep some cooked at all times and dogs get a bit each day. This started when Tesla became a really picky eater and DH thought she was sick (not).

Love the sand sculpture. What a hoot!

Hey Ann, you must be quite the catch! I bet your buddy called you because he though some other guy would beat him too it! Men are so funny about being alone. And I bet this is not your last suitor!

Brother is back in the midwest emptying out mother's remaining storage units. Full of papers and journals. Nearly $2000 to have it hauled away. Perhaps 100 bankers boxes of dusty papers. Moral of the story: DON"T save old papers and magazines.

Peps glad to hear you had a peaceful day. It is iced tea season. Hardly any stores here carry the plain old instant kind I like. We even have a working ice maker again!

Miss150 can't wait to see your quilt when it is pieced. Quilting is a fabulous art form. One of my favorite parts of the county fair.

Lordy do I have a snarl of papers to close out my Mom's estate. Needs a notary which is kind of a headache in our dinky town. I took flowers to this one bank officer since I had to pester her so many times.

Well off to studio and to shop for veggies. But first, you know what. Diane S

168.8 today. WTH?

Lots of stress and adjusting still. Mostly I think DH is having difficulty in general getting a grip on the new job, but especially in working from home this week and not being able to turn "off." Idk if Nugget is feeding off his stress, or if she's just stressing him out. But they both seem to be grumps this week :( However, she continues to sleep nearly 10 hrs. a night and is a comparably very happy baby so I hesitate to complain about it at all.

Had a lunch for a friend who is 39 weeks pregnant with her first. DH hired her, and we got to see several other friends from old job. It's getting a little easier to not keep having to pinch myself and say "he doesn't work there anymore, doh!" Lot of disgruntled workers there, from the sounds of it. Maybe they were just being polite, but even so it's really nice to hear that so many people liked their boss! Oh and my poor friend. It's just miserable here right now. I'm sure being pregnant in Oklahoma during the summer is a bad idea.

I got a salad with lunch. Upset tummy. Wonder if there's any way to cure this? My "IBS" seems to only get worse as time elapses since vsg and gallbladder removal (if there's even any causation between them?)
