Good morning !
Positives:
- Atlas and Sadie are on the mend
- I'm okay throwing out the remainder of two forty pound bags of high quality dog food, just in case
- Chicken is BOGO this week
- I'm grateful to be making chicken and rice for TWO doggies
- I see lugging my steam carpet cleaner upstairs and spending some time on the rugs as exercise and a celebration that the vomiting and diarrhea have subsided
- I didn't eat over any of this
Negatives:
- Nothing for you today
Thinking about Paula, Ben and the family. Sorry to hear about DH's trial ending, Liz. Yeah for pantry purging and reorganization. Eager for an update from Dave. Admiring all for the deep thinking, reflection and sharing ongoing in this special tribe. Every struggle, accomplishment, problem and ah ha moment is significant and valued.
Final thought is a shout out to all doctors, for humans or animals, who consistently work in an environment of urgency. The more they specialize in critical care, the more catastrophic news to deliver, the higher the stakes for overlooking something, the greater the odds of not being able to intervene in time. There are days when successes are few and far between. So grateful that's why our Vet cried when she brought Atlas to us !

Weight 119, calories 782. Weight not optimal, but calories were good. I walked about 10 miles on the beach yesterday. Of course we are going out with friends tonight...
I'm glad Atlas and Sadie are doing well. We do love our pets so much. I miss Justice like crazy and hope he doesn't think we abandoned him. Even though he sleeps with DS, I think I am his primary person.
It was probably just as well on the trial as I was going to have to decide whether to continue to the second part at the end of the year anyway. I hadn't seen that it was helping DH. But it is another frustration that there still hasn't been anything found for Alzheimer's in many years. Another one of the more promising drugs apparently failed at the end of last year.
Today is another day in paradise with walking, swimming and going out with friends to eat. I'll have to peruse the menu for something small (or have significant leftovers) as it is a steak place. Last night I gave DH my leftovers from the prior night and it was a full meal for him.
Have a thankful Thursday!

A Good morning back at'cha!!
So glad to hear the pups are on the mend, and good riddance to bad dog food. Chicken is a wonderful - comfort type food for convalescent doggies. Yum.
Liz, I'd love to take a 10 mile stroll down your beach way..Sounds lovely. Kansas humidity building up, and weatherman is predicting a hot one this season.
153.0 today and have fallen into a "normal" BMI for what that is worth.
Am out and about with DH today ?????Adventures????to be seen.
Positives... I have all my fabric choices pulled for quilt. (Yes, Diane, I hand piece and quilt my quilts, but don't confuse me with those amazing people that quilt at about 15 stitches/inch. I'm good at about 8-9, and do it on a lap hoop. I had a frame set up one time in a back bedroom, but it was lonely work.) I've also gathered all the antique lace, etc. and will need to wash the old out of it best I can.
Negatives--nope and nope.
Continuing always to keep Paula and family in prayers along with continued healing for Cecily, .... and all ya'll.. Live life fully and well today.

Such a creative friend! Artists are so different from the rest of us. They imagine and create stuff that would never occur to us. And we're thrilled that they're on the planet, too. :)

Sending my love daily, make that hourly, to Paula and Ben. I actually dreamed about you guys last night, that I was looking at a beautiful Facebook page memorializing your love over the years for each other.
This morning's weight is again the same again (for the third day). Yesterday's calories remained up as well, thanks to a shared piece of key lime cake at a restaurant with a girlfriend. It was so delicious that I actually felt it was "worth it." Consequently, my veggie and fruit servings were lower in response to all the calories in that dessert. Today I'm happy to be back in the V/F/no-dessert groove.
OK, get ready for a weird story.
Yesterday, I turned down a proposal of marriage. It was proffered by someone I've known for 40 years. Via telephone no less. And if you think it's weird, you can imagine how I felt! I've known the guy for 40 years and regarded him as a brotherly kind of guy who's never exhibited an iota of romantic interest in me. But he's been a good friend, the kind who would come fix your flat tire at night if you really needed someone to do that.
Without going into gory detail, I think the deal with him is simply that he's terribly lonely these days. He's one of those playboys who spent his 20s, 30s, and 40s cutting a wide swath through the female gender on both coasts. He's also been married several times, but the marriages were not very successful. And now his lonely eyes have landed on me, since I'm possibly the only woman he knows whom he's never bedded or tried to bed.
My initial reaction was absolutely uncontrollable - I burst out laughing. Really loud. For a long time. Long story short, I told him he was looking in the wrong direction, that I think of him as a brother and always will, that I'm still very much in love with my sweet husband, and that - by the way, dude! - do you realize he died only 5 months and 2 days ago, so WTF?!
Not to mention the salient fact that this is the first marriage proposal I've ever received from someone who's never even asked me out on a date.
And then, as my dear, kind husband would have suggested I do, I said I admired his ambition.
So that was my day yesterday.
Today's theme: Sometimes really weird **** happens.

Now that is a story! I hope the guy was okay afterwards. I think I would have been "snort" laughing, then felt bad and tried to help him feel better about the no answer.
BTW, lime is a fruit! Do you think I could use that logic with coconut cream pie or lemon meringue pie or blueberry pie or apple cake or ...?
Liz 5'3" HW: 219 SW: 185 GW: 125 LW: 113 Desired maintenance range: 120-125 CW: 119ish
Liz, that's exactly what happened -- I reacted just as you would have! I was indeed snort-laughing. And then I did try to help him feel better about the no answer. Mostly, I just felt sorry for him. Terrible timing, execution, and just a bad, bad strategy in general.
Yes, lime is a fruit. So is coconut. So are lemons, blueberries, apple, etc. But you have to eat a big enough portion so it will count as a full serving.
:)
