Positive #1 - almost 9 hours of sleep.

Positive #2 - the sky is a beautiful, clean blue behind the green of the black walnuts and oaks and creek willows in the yard.

Positive #3 - new underwear - super duper comfy and fit well.

Positive #4 - At the Woofstock dog show I wore my hippy outfit and flip flops and did not fall or trip in the ring.

Delta #1 - weight is still 250ish.... Eh.... it is what it is....

My thoughts are with Paula and Ben.

Today is my first official day of summer vacation. I think I must go to a movie tonight. I am feeling a bit, how shall I say, self indulgent this late morning. I must write a list of things to accomplish and also to enjoy during my next month of partial freedom. You know once the puppies come I become the dedicated puppy papa and most everything else flies out the window!

I wish I had something wonderful to say about my eating, my weight, and my plans for "back on track", but I haven't. So, instead today I am going to rejoice in the fact that I do not need to be focused on teaching for the next 6 to 8 weeks! (Have no idea if I'm teaching the damn 3/4 combo yet or not. Apparently, now the powers that be have decided to wait to officially announce until August. Guess they just wanted to stir the pot before the end of the year. So kind of them.)

Be well.

Lots of positives! Enjoy your freedom while you can (and I know like a good parent you will also enjoy those pups even with the work).

LOL on "Woofstock" btw (my iPad keeps trying to change it to Woodstock)!

Paula-just read your update and wanted to say I hope for peace for you and Ben. I am so sorry you are feeling alone in all this. I hope you can just take it one day at a time and have some friends and family members to lean on. Your family is so lucky to have you.

2-for-1. What an interesting thought. You know what's weird? Sometimes my positives can be negatives, lol. Especially in the case of food. Like "I had a snowcone yesterday."

Weight was predictably up today. I hate that I'm hovering right around 169. It's not a weight I'm comfortable with. I feel much thicker than usual. And yet I cannot seem to force myself to say no!!

DH and I went on a dive bar pub crawl with friends on Saturday. It was the 7th anniversary of my meeting DH. Highlight of my evening was getting ID'd at the final pub of the night. And I was the only one!! Been nearly a decade since not being allowed to drink! Ha!

We planted our flower beds yesterday. That's always a lot of work but so nice to see it done! Every year I think "next year I'll plant in early May." And then the time escapes me.

DH's first day working from home seems to be going well. Still working very hard at only focusing on what's ahead of me. I can get overwhelmed worrying about the future. Why waste today doing that?

Tonight's dinner will either be grilled schwarma chicken thighs and tahini, pepita, and apricot slaw or grilled steaks, beet salad with goat cheese, grilled zucchini. I think. We'll see how I'm feeling in a few hours.

Greetings Two for Oneder Wonders

What a great idea Diane O. Two for one. My two are : beautiful day filled with roses, great cup of coffee. My one is 150 on the scale. I managed to do some extra walking today by leaving the car parked and walking around for the various errands. Of course it was walking around Trinidad, Shel, so hardly a chore. More banking today. Seems like I spend a lot of time waiting in lines in banks. Its to make deposits so there isn't any way to streamline it.

Dinner last night was steak and it turned out to be a good one. Also the excellent cherry tomatoes - the yellow ones.

Our older dog Chip seems to be really slowing down. He mainly wants to eat and bask in the sun (know the feeling) though he is up for a walk now and then. He needs a shot so he may get a senior check up too. Hope everyones fur babies are ok.

Everyone is doing fun stuff. Country road walks (remember the James Taylor song "On a Country Road"), Aruba beaches, pub crawl, puppies etc. Gotta plan some fun. Kiln opens today so we will see what there is to behold.

Our neighbor gave us a cool bottle brush plant, DH promptly killed it by planting it too shallow. We are going to sneak off to the nursery to get another one and hope she doesn't notice. Like people do when their kid's goldfish die. The kids always know.

Well Peps hope Woofstock was fun. I may have told you when I went I didn't know the costume tradition but loved it. Judges in Nehru jackets! Jimmy Hendrix Star Spangled Banner!

Good for you Miss150 on the article. I think you should do it. It really would help others. I bow to your success. Your little horse emogie must be "Justify"!

As always, thinking of Paula.

Thinking of you too Cecily and hope that surgeon has some magic up his sleeve.

Peace. Over and Out. Diane S

I didn't reply this morning because I couldn't come up with 2 positives. But I think I ended the day with two small ones. I did drive myself to my doctor's appointment (1.5 hrs there, 2 hrs. home) and lived to tell the tale. And the surgeon cut out a lot of dead tissue, so hopefully that will jumpstart the healing. He switched me to all honey for all my wounds which will be easier than the current regimen. We'll see how it goes! Still no showers, but I was encouraged to shower my groin wound openings. I'll take half a body shower I guess. And he said the good news is I have no signs of infection in my openings, so that's a bonus and one less hurdle.

Anyway, that's what I've got for the day. Love reading about all ya'll's goings on!

PS - read this article about forest bathing in our local paper. Reminded me of Shel's tree exploits!

Though this quote made me snort in a most unladylike fashion:

"As we take sips of water, we experience what it is to swallow the water," she reminded the group.

Snort. Powerful words, them's are...

OK, so this is one of my favorite parts in the article:

"Clifford ... founder of The Association of Nature and Forest Therapy Guides and Programs ... [said] "This is totally taking off."

Talk about a market-maker!

Snort!
