VSG Maintenance Group
Sunday June 10
Love to you Paula. Your kids don't really know what to do right now. Your strength will be needed by them after Ben peacefully leaves. It will continue to feel exhausting but in a way having to put one foot in front of the other for your children will ultimately help you to function.

Paula ...oh, my dear. So many feelings here for you.
I think at some point you need to come see me here in the country. Remember (if you can through the fog right now) this invitation. We'll work out the logistics when it's time.
Love, Ann

A) More wound saga. Skip if you're tired of me. I'm tired of me!
B) Upon rereading, there are way too many "I's" in this post, but it seems I'm incapable of focusing on anything other than my broken self. Sorry.
I had a freak out last night. While changing my dressings I found yet another inch plus opening on my right hip. That's 5 big ones around my waist plus the groin openings. I just broke down crying. I have no more coping reserves left for this. I sent a picture to the doctor and asked him if I would benefit from seeing a wound care specialist. He answered back at 11:30pm that most wound care docs don't understand LBL incisions and he has had patients who've gone that route end up with unnecessary surgeries and skin grafts. He also said if it makes me feel any better he is the director of several wound care clinics in Southern California so the treatment he is giving me is what I'd get there minus the overkill surgery and grafting.
He wants to see me again Monday (I just went Friday, but I appreciate that he's not just saying wait and see). And he's going to call me today. In the email I told him I am at the end of my rope and don't know how much more of this I can handle. Because I don't. I'm sure I would cope somehow, but I'm depressed.
I will say the groin incisions are looking good with the medicinal honey. If I could get to that point with the waist ones and not split open anymore I would feel so much better. And showers. Showers would feel better.
Anyway hoping you all are having a better Sunday!
I am glad you are posting......this IS a big deal!
I am personally relieved to hear that your surgeon is the director of several wound care clinics. (But honestly hate that "unnecessary surgeries and skin grafts" came up.).
And, shout out to medicinal honey. A naturopath once gave me a 10 dollar honey band aid for radiation burn after failing a bazillion other treatments. Honey rocks. And, now available from Amazon.
Take care, I am glad you are keeping surgeon (and us) in the loop

Cecily, so sorry you're still plagued by the incisions. But glad the surgeon will see you tomorrow.
I've never heard of medicinal honey before. Am going to buy some right now to have on hand if I need it.
