Weight 116.8, calories? We had dinner at SIL's last night. The salmon and spinach salad were on plan but not the cannoli dip...
So I'm the one with insomnia this time (pre-travel version). I have been awake since 2:30 am so I finally got up just before 4. I had a bit of insomnia the prior two nights as well but was able to fall back asleep for a couple of hours in the early morning. Not today, as we are leaving here for the airport at 6:30. So Justice and I are curled up on the couch.
I should be able to sleep pretty well tonight. We will be on the beach in about 12 hours.
Paula, thinking about Ben, you and your family.
Have a stress-free Saturday!

Good early morning Liz and sleepers.
Liz have a great trip.
Paula you and yours are in my heart.
Cecily hope you are healing.
Shel all the best with scary scary school issues.
Diane be gentle with yourself.
Sorry if have missed anyone.
Sleepless yet again, am fighting the urge to get up and bake cookies but the house is cold and I don't want to turn on the heat as it is June for heavens sakes. It has been raining all day long and the weatherman ( person ) promises much more. Much much more. Sigh.
Have a great Sat. Does anyone here go to garage sales?
About garage sales: I love stories about great finds at amazing prices. So, I want to like garage sales but it turns out my brain isn't wired for hunting and gathering.
I also never liked Easter egg hunts---just give me my treats in a basket and be done with it!

Good morning ! Yesterday's walk was down the road with fertilized fields. Today was around the village of Hammondsport, with the lake never far from view. Had a different experience at lunch yesterday. The group elected to go to a huge pay by weight of container buffet before bowling league yesterday. The veggies all called to me... spring lettuces, beets, spring peas, corn and black bean salsa, carrots, tomato, peppers... the only protein I ended up with was a hard boiled egg. I was full right after I ate, but famished within an hour. Dense protein certainly stays with me longer !
Wine club members luncheon at a local winery today. The food pairings mean I'll be sipping and eating so that will be two days in a row that I am not utilizing my sleeve to its potential, but I'm human and it is not the norm.

I've never been a salad only person for that reason. Protein keeps me full for a long time, but veggies not so much.

Eating is going well. Weight down 11 since I finished the house, alcohol is down. So much more to go. I was just taking in way too many calories. Pizza, chips, ice cream ibuprofen and bourbon for pain control. All to just push through and get the house done. I lack a few hours on it but it is stuff that can wait.
Adalyn 4 th ear infection is behind us. She spent the night with us last night to give her momma a taste of a full night uninterrupted sleep. Police were called to one of her neighbors house because of drug dealing and noise disturbances. She did go right back to sleep though.
Farming is going good too. I really need to do better with the dogs. They like to run in a certain place in the farm. It has water where they can get in and drink. I have really been just too busy. And to top it of the chickens will not go in the coup until dark so it has been running my bedtime late. I have been sleeping late to make up for it .
I have caught 3 bee swarms by accident already this year. I had 1 trap hanging and the other 2 were just empty boxes that they moved into. I went to clean an empty hive out and bees came out to greet me.
Liz, safe travels.
Prayers Paula
More later, David

Another beautiful sunrise here, and summer is settling in. Our ten-day forecast is for highs of 90, lows of 70, with 20-40% chances of thunderstorms. In other words, perfect grass- and weed-growing weather. I can predict my near-term future. :)
EDIT 90 MINUTES LATER: After that beautiful sunrise, the sky clouded over, which is great mowing weather. So I hopped on the big mower and finished cleaning up the hayfield. Then a little thunderstorm developed, and I'm back inside with coffee doing laundry and talking to y'all.
Anyhoo ... in other news, yesterday my landscaper broke the news that we can't put in new border plantings until late August at the earliest. I figured that would be the case, but rats!
Here's a small, but interesting (to me) observation: Yesterday morning, following my ice cream bacchanalia the day before, I had so much energy. After early meditation, I walked half an hour on the property, mowed for an hour and a half, splashed in the pool for an hour, and at physical therapy did my neck and shoulder exercises with enthusiasm. It was interesting to observe that my body was feeling good, rather than to default immediately to my usual judgments about how my body should be feeling after I ate "food that is bad for me." Boy, it's hard, even at 72 years of age, to resist sending myself to self-care detention even when I haven't actually hurt myself.
And while folding laundry just now, I've had another thought. What if I gave myself a daily assignment to break one of my precious rules? Would the earth tilt? Would I regain 100 pounds? If I think so highly of The Middle Way, shouldn't I respect the space between saintliness and sin?
Today's theme (inspired by Shel): Today, I AM going to take recess.

Carbs = glucose. Glucose = easily available energy source. Therefore, Carbs=energy!
Ever heard of the Keto Flu? It comes at the onset of an extremely low carb or ketogenic diet. Main symptoms: malaise, lack of energy, lethargy, overall blah, and in some rare cases, even a slight rise in body temperature.
Devon, thanks. :)
I did know about carbs = glucose = energy. I do remember, back in the day, my long-distance running friends would carbo-load the night before a marathon -- pasta, pasta, pasta. So, duh!
But no -- I had never heard of "Keto Flu." However, it makes sense. Hmmm. That might explain some behavior on the OH forums. ;)

Good morning, all!
It is a rainy weekend. But really what I have to report is that I have been eating like crap since Thur. Well, healthy stuff, too, but with processed sugar crap in-between. The home environment is not controlled! And, I am the one who brought it in. My stripes have faded but are still there!
Cecily, I saw your post on the PS forum because I am a stalker. I wish I knew what would help or could fast forward you to the date that you are healed and ready for a ceremonial chair burning.
Ann, glad you are finding recess today! For me, I'm going to enjoy getting some house stuff done. DianeO, your neighborhood is very VERY pretty.
Paula, hugs to you!
Shel
