Weight 116.2, calories 928. My goal is weight in the low 115's by the end of the week before we leave for Aruba which should be doable since I was 115.2 a couple of times last week. I just planned my dinners for the week to make sure they fit into my plans and we don't leave leftovers behind.

The Irish Festival was good. We listened to one band which was really good: Back West. They had great musicians as well as an Irish dancer. When we went to get some coffee around noon (it was chilly at that point), DH grabbed a plate and started filling it at the Irish breakfast buffet (which we hadn't paid for or planned on). No big deal, we just paid for it and it was his lunch. He was pouting a bit when we left around 5 because he wanted to stay longer, but we drove with friends who had to work today and it was getting really cold. He really does act like a young child a lot.

Today, DH has an eye appointment, then we have an Alzheimer's support meeting in the early afternoon. Those are the plans for the day (I will miss yoga this morning - oh well).

Have a markup Monday!

OK, I'm ready for some bathroom activity--on the scales and the potty.

Yesterday was as predicted--mildly productive and lovely. My niece came over in the late afternoon for a few hours' visit. We drove around the property on the Gator (four-wheel John Deere utility vehicle) and drank wine while we admired all my mowing. :)

This morning it's 56 degrees here. After morning meditation, a few sun salutations, and a little weeding, I cranked up Miles Davis on the porch iPod and had a second cuppa joe. I've cleaned the kitchen and am doing some more laundry. Feels good. :)

In May I accomplished enough out here after returning from Ireland that I am now ready to go back to The Pool and aquarobics three mornings a week. Now I just have to find my bathing suit. Then it's physical therapy for the neck. I'm getting ready to be done with that, although the therapist says I should do my daily exercises the rest of my life). Sure, I will. ;) It's so cute how the older I get the more exercise everyone wants me to do.

Today's affirmations, thanks to Stuart Smalley (I used to think these were so silly, but maybe not): I deserve good things. I am entitled to my share of happiness. I refuse to beat myself up. I am an attractive person. I am fun to be with. ;)

Wine tasting on a Gator. Love that! Did your wine glasses have lids? I have yet to drive on a farm that wasn't bumpy, everywhere.

No lid required. I am a Gator-driving-wine-sipping professional. The niece did ok, too. ;)

Good morning!

Liz, your Irish Festival sounded really good, I love filling up the senses with something different tho I rarely will make an effort to go. DH won't do anything like that ("I am not Irish!") which also curbs my motivation.

My traps are sore and tired. I know this because I used the internet to find out the name of this complaining muscle group. Now I feel all body-builder calling them traps. Even DH commented, out of the blue, that I looked like I had really long arms. I think I was a bit over-aggressive at the gym Sat and Sun.

I was exhausted last night which contributed to lousy LOUSY eating. I am taking a day off activity today

Exhaustion compulsive eating is different from hiking compulsive eating which is different from "I-should-cut-back-cuz-I-am-gaining" compulsive eating. I can distinguish between the three. I suppose that is progress? Notice that none of them was eating because I am hungry :)

Paula, hugs for you. I bet your pups are enjoying the extra family naps. Cecily, hoping your body healed itself overnight.

I would say time for recess.....but really it is Hi-ho...hi-ho time for me. The rest of you go have fun, tho.

Shel

Supposedly lack of sleep is one of the primary causes of obesity. I do believe it - I think exhaustion breaks down barriers and causes one to want "comfort" food.

As Devon says, I resemble that remark. :)

158- Geeze, Louise!

Thanks, Shel, for the reminder re compulsive overeating. My list is your list + one which is is- eating because by doing Something, I will be able to change the current state of my life that is (out of my control, not to my liking, in my control-but I'm unwilling or too lazy to do what is necessary , unpleasant, unfair..) fill in the blank with whatever a person can whine about.

It was somewhere on this forum some one wrote--If it's NOT hunger, FOOD WON'T FIX IT.

Good morning ! Congratulations to Ben, Paula and family for attaining Ben's retirement goal ! Cecily, we all wish we were a little closer to you, too, as you work through the next phase of recovery. Hopefully the return to sponge baths will be short lived. We met my youngest daughter and my mom, brother, and sister along with wives, husbands, et al for brunch two hours away yesterday. It's going to take a while to catch up on yesterday's posts. I want to reread and make some notes, as there were some powerful awarenesses and insights there.

As I watched my two ~ 18 month grand nephews eat yesterday, I was struck by the dramatic difference between their approaches. Jackson is a picky eater. He slowly and methodically worked his way through half a pancake, turning each small bite around in his fingers, studying it from different angles, then chewing each carefully and completely. He played with his table toys between bites. Andrew stuffed handful after handful of chopped up hotdog and broken up French fries into his mouth, barely chewing before swallowing. When he finished his hotdog and French fries, he started in on his dad's plate, working on his fries. He often appeared to be in a daze, almost robotic in his motions. Did any of the other adults at the table observe what I did ? Nurture or nature ?

Jackson is my hero for the day !
