Good morning!

Paula, hugs to you and family today.

Ozarks=extreme grass growing. Who knew?

I worked out yesterday morning at 6AM and was on the road by 7:30 to the trailhead. Hikers start early because even tho the parking lots up there are large, the number of hikers is larger. I scored one of the last regular spots. Someday, the irregular parking is going to block me in. Hopefully I will have my SOS gadget by then so I can sic a tow-truck on that Fiat that is NOT small enough to fit into motorcycle parking. (Parking lot anger in the woods. Gotta love it)

The hike was about 8 miles but elevation gain was less robust than in recent weeks. Totally worth it for a hike I haven't done before. Pics below.

Peps, I agree with Ann. You are a total goofball.

About food.....I know for sure this uptick in hiking is driving an uptick in appetite, particularly at night. My weight is up by more than few so I am not keeping things balanced. I shall work on it.

Go find some recess,

Shel

Oh Shel, what a beautiful hike! I live in the wrong state.

HEY! I resemble that remark!!!!

I should take pics of our dried up brown hills and post. Such a contrast to your beautiful redwoods. We have beautiful redwoods close by. My dog club is taking a walk in the Oakland redwoods today. I will miss it. Sad...

What David said! Your recess really is awesome.

Your hiking pictures are some of my best internet moments these days.

Peps, thought of you as I scanned a NYT's article. You are probably more advanced than the article but maybe it has a tidbit or link that you will find interesting. Why You Should Stop Being So Hard On Yourself

Thoughts are on Paula and family.

Weight: 154.4 in compression garment, but no sleep shirt

I am eating all my regular high protein stuff, but given my mental state and the fact that I'm still losing weight, I've been eating treats I should stay away from. In the last week+ I've had a ton of ice cream and two huge slices of low carb cheesecake. I know it's not a habit I should get into, but frankly, my eyes are sunken enough and I need to not lose anymore. I suppose I could eat nuts or something like that instead. But those don't sound good in the moment.

The surgeon giveth and the surgeon taketh away. He emailed me this morning and said, by the way, no showers until my new opening is under control. Sponge baths only. Kill me now.

Nothing on the books today. It's getting hot. Yesterday I watched 200 acres of one of my hiking areas burn on tv. My county had all of 2.60" of rain in the year ending May 31st. After years of that, it's so crispy out there leaving a lot to burn.

Liz, enjoy your Irish festival!

Ann, your day sounds so idyllic!

David, love your Adalyn stories! Best of luck in advance for your Tuesday procedure.

Off to eat something...

I'm just imagining your surgeon on Sunday morning, drinking lots of coffee, chatting on his favorite forum. Then he pauses to think about you and bathing. Vetos bathing with a few taps on the keyboard. And then back to his usual Sunday routine.

They are predicting a worse than normal forest fire season here, too. I am sorry to hear about your hiking area, watching it on TV must be heartbreaking.
