Good morning!

I did have stuff to say about yesterday, but am struggling now to remember why I thought it was so important. I'm sure it involved errands, food, mowing, and summer. ;)

But here's what I really want to say. While fixing coffee this morning I was thinking about what BALLS we all had to have weight loss surgery. This days I don't spend much time remembering how hard it was to overcome my resistance to this last-gasp effort to get healthy and pull the trigger on WLS. I am so proud of myself and of you for running that gauntlet.

And we're still going through a lot to get and stay healthy. Our resilience and focus on health -- no matter what our scale said this morning -- is so untypical of most human beings. Most of us were not gifted with perfect bodies -- beauty-wise or health-wise. And we know that the environments in which we live don't make it easy to treat our bodies and souls with loving kindness. Heck, our own psyches aren't even designed to support our self-care and self-compassion.

That's why this group is so unusual. I sincerely admire each of you for your determination, focus, humor, and courage. We're not perfect and never will be, but we're here, holding hands, and supporting each other.

And now I think we're supposed to sing a hymn. :)

Today's theme: I love you.

I hummed both Kumbaya and We Are the Champions as I read your post, the second becoming my hymn for the day ! We all are pretty amazing !

So, a funny thing happened. When impromptu bowling with friends yesterday, members of a summer league asked us to join their team Friday at 2 PM for the next six weeks. I have never been picked for a team in my life. Ever. I'm doing it. Of course that means I MUST have shoes, a ball, and a bag, LOL !

Off to get bunches accomplished. Cecily... eager to hear what the surgeon has to say. Paula...thinking about you and sending love.

LOL! When DD was a teen, she worked in a bowling alley so ended up joining a team. She still has a bowling ball, shoes and a bag.

Weight 115.8, calories 1342. Weight is up .6 as predicted but I ate healthier than I expected in an Italian restaurant. I had salmon over spinach and white beans infused with lemon. It was great and I have a leftover portion for today!

Ann, we did make a concerted effort to take care of ourselves didn't we? Funny that you should remark on it, as I stole the picture that Kathy S. posted yesterday on OH and put it on FB with this comment: Sometimes we forget that to help others we need to do this first:

Today is an unplanned day. It looks like it will be warm and not rainy so maybe we will go somewhere for a nature walk with Justice. He is cuddled up next to me right now, which I so enjoy. I also need to start updating the Aruba packing list, including a list for DH this year (I can't remember if he was able to pack by himself last year). We leave one week from today!

Have a satisfying Saturday!

Good morning, you Awesome All,

Yes. We Rock.

Yesterday, I saw a patient who, for the first time in her life, has been trying to lose weight. So stinking' cute. She was saying things like "I am so angry that I have to think about what I can't have. I feel like I am........" and I say "grieving?" and she yells "YES!" and on and on.

Our culture doesn't support putting all forms of health first, second or third. I LOL'd when I heard a buzz in our reception area yesterday when they realized it was national donut day and they WEREN'T PREPARED. (Donuts appeared within 30 minutes).

I could go on and on.....but I'm off to the gym and then to a new hike.

Put Good in, Get Good out. Go find some recess.

Shel

Good morning

wow! Everyone is so busy!

re: gardening. As a child we had a 20 acre market garden and we children were the rock pickers, seeders, weeders, harvesters, and more rock pickers. I absolutely loath gardening. My siblings love it and grow fabulous veggies. Have tried hard to like it and have put in gardens but nothing flourishes because the plants KNOW my heart. Sigh.

enjoy the weekend. Rain and cold here which is a pity as it is grad weekend.

Paula sending a hug.

Thanks to everybody who's posted this morning, everyone who will post, those who don't, but are busy with life...hell, thanks to all-ya'-all!!!! I daily need to hear and see and think, and I can't think of a better place to do it.!

Ann, you are so wise to point out the truth found in perspective. Sometimes when I try to micro analyze the importance of the moment's significance as it relates to the overall success or failure that is my life, I lose sight of the growth that has come over time...the trends. Our "moments" do not reflect the whole that is us. Yes, we are amazing!

That being said, I do not sweat the 156.4 that appeared on the scale today, but rather celebrate all that I am because of all that I have been.

Celebrate!

Weight 155.6 garbed up

The surgeon called last night and said not to be upset it will heal and like the others should heal nicely. He said to treat it like the groin incisions until I see him next Friday (Dakin's solution). He asked how my cough was and while it's not gone, it's a lot better. He said if the z-pack is working it's likely I had a touch of pneumonia from the ventilator and then being sedentary for so long. Why not. I feel like I've had everything else!

My friends offered to take me on an outing tomorrow and I said no. I think I'm afraid. What if I have to tinkle? There's no way I could get down and up from a regular toilet right now. And my pants would slide down the slippery spandex garment and I'd have to ask one of them to come in and grab them for me. Ugh. The anxiety of that combined with anxiety about what if the chairs are not right for me for sitting (too upright) makes me feel safer at home. I think this might be how hermits are born!

I am determined to get my hair done Monday and I have to get there myself. Maybe that will help break the anxiety of leaving the safety of my house. Shows you how addicted I am to coloring my hair!

You will get past this. The shower made you feel so much better, I think getting your hair done will as well!
