Carbon, thanks for this medical news about joint replacements. My knees are better than I deserve, given everything I've done to them and that have happened to them. I've always imagined I'd have to have new ones at some point. And, of course, old-lady hip fractures are possibly in my future, too. Good to know the surgical trauma is diminishing with new technology and new techniques.

Well, after my recent sleep success, last night was rough sleep-wise. And as sometimes happen on nights I can't get to sleep, I ate more than I usually do, including half a cup of roasted edamame seeds, which were drenched in sodium. Consequently, my weight's up another pound. So I won't do that tonight.
Yesterday I had a much-needed manicure and pedicure and feel quite ladylike this morning. This afternoon I'll have my monthly microderm abrasion and facial. These are good things for me.
Yesterday I also received some packages after online shopping last weekend--some new Skechers to replace the ones I've worn into the ground and some new underwear and bra. It's odd that I'm willing to buy countless pairs of new jeans, but stall on buying new underwear. I cannot explain that.
Today will involve lots of to-dos on the phone and in person. I continue to appreciate everything my husband used to do that made my life easier--dealing with our vehicles, the finances, property and home repairs and maintenance, and errands which seem never-ending.
Today's theme: Show compassion to myself. (This comes from work my yoga class is doing lately.)
P.S. Diane, I'm crazy about your new haircut. I'm glad you figured out how to upload pix here.

So lovely, and Yes, if my hair would behave as nicely as Diane's after a new do... but, no...3 minutes after walking out of the salon...(think Einstein)

DS#2 is troubled, and unhappy, needing to move in a different direction, and has jumped into the chaos of action. (Toxic relationship and accompanied financial woes). This is all a good thing, but painful as he moves through the process.
Therefore, I am troubled, and anxious for him. The "need" to do something- creates an energy that needs to be channeled somewhere (but not into his stuff--he has to work out his own salvation )- which is going to involve pain and suffering, which--see the circle? He feels, so I feel for him. Living with unfinished emotional business is difficult for me.
I think I'm going to have to practice sitting in unhappy feelings without medicating for a change. Maybe doing whatever to make feelings go away is not always a healthy thing to do.

Oh, Lard! (That's an old family expression similar to "Oh, Lord!")
I say a loud amen to everything you said. People we love are often in pain. As are we. Suffering and pain and the struggle for happiness and peace are biggest parts of this thing we call life.
The Buddha had a lot to say on these subjects. And, Lard knows, these days I'm appreciative of the Buddha's perspective, hard as it is to maintain my grip on that perspective. I just found this digestible little piece online that spoke to me:

Greetings Thursday Purple People
Yes, Thursday is a purple day for me. In my purple house. All 148.5 purple pounds of me. I ate some peanuts last night that I didn't need. DH buys them. I must at least put them out of sight. He seems to be able to get away with them. Not moi!
Thanks for the comments on the new hair do. An improvement over the former "charles manson" look. Peps posted it for me as I still can't do it but will figure it out someday. We shall see how the new do survives my neglect and the acid test - when I wash and air dry it. But at least I think I have found a hairdresser and salon I like. Old one was boring. This one has a lot of energy and funny yacking that is the fun part of beauty salons. I now know all about the love life and the mother/family issues of a complete stranger!
Diane O, I looked up the Finger Lakes to see exactly where they are. Looks like a wonderful place. Something I need to add to travel list.
Liz, so sorry Justice had a traumatic event. Hope he recovers soon. Lovely photo as always.
Yuck Shel, phone duty. I hate being on the phone in general and can't imagine doing it all day long. Here's hoping its not a regular thing.
Nothing much scheduled today except studio time with my studio roommate who can talk more than most anybody I know. But its pretty funny and as long as I can keep my hands busy (with the hoodoo or something else) its fine for me to listen. Hopefully will have some stuff to glaze so it can get loaded for tomorrow's firing.
Well Miss150 if you figure out how to live with negative energy going on around you, let us all know. I kind of just ignore it but with a young adult child thats pretty hard. I have a phone ap that you use to sort of meditate - you put your finger on the camera and it reads your heart rate and breathing and such. But don't ask me the name of it as I can't find it right now. Also have a meditation app. Do I use it? No, but its there just in case.
Carbon, glad the surgeon is happy with your progress and glad that trip is over with. Keep doing what the PT says. Knees are such delicate things. Amazing we have evolved as we have with them.
Peps, counting down the school days with you. The longest day of the year will soon be here. More hours to drink coffee! (ok I never drink it in the afternoon). Peace all. Diane S

Weight: forgot
An excellent follow up appointment with the surgeon all around! My last drains came out, he thinks my open wounds are healing really fast, and generally thought I was healing faster than most of his patients with my combo of surgery. That is seriously frightening because I feel really slow...
So I can shower tomorrow! (24 hours after drain removal. Guess where I'll be at noon tomorrow??)
I can climb my stairs to sleep in my own bed, use my shower, and do my own laundry!
He gave me additional antibiotics to try to get at what's in my lungs making me cough and avoid pneumonia.
He's not worried about the fever I've had for weeks (99s) and said it's part of the revved metabolism as my body tries to heal (goes along with needing to eat more calories).
With bending he said first, don't bend at the waist, use my knees and second, listen to what my body is telling me about not bending.
I see him again next week and he said he might switch up to a different wound care regimen for the open ones as they transition to the next phase of healing.
All in all a great check up. Finally!!
I ordered a pooper scooper thing where you attach the bag to the end and can scoop up while standing. So hopefully, I'll be able to take Ferg out for short walks soon.
Anyway, feeling positive for a change!
The best post in weeks!
YEA!!!!!!!!!!
