Oh! "No pain, no gain!" is so unworkable. I've had to learn that anew in / with my yoga practice.

I'm not only NOT competing with others, but I'm also NOT competing with my body. We're supposed to be listening to each other and working together. Or that's how I think of it.

Carbon, you are so right, sometimes "no pain, no gain" is poor advise. Take it easy with the knee.

155.8

Today is "lighten the load of the house" day. Tons and tons of clothes to Saint Vinnies (my go to shopping place) They do good works in our little community, and I do not mind that I buy for very little and then turn around and donate the stuff right back. I see it as renting clothes for a little while, then updating to the latest, albeit several years removed, sometimes, fashions. It's win-win. The money goes to all kinds of helpful projects and needy folks.

Am also dropping off approximately 9 pounds of yarn that was given to me some time ago- as if- well, of course I haven't done anything with it--truth be told, I won't, so off to the Naz Church ladies knitting and crocheting group.

Lunch with Kurt and one of the kiddos and home for - ??

May your day of ???????'s be most entertaining, productive and enjoyable!

Garbed weight 155.8

I am seeing improvements in how I move, but still can't bend over to pick anything up. I need to ask the doctor tomorrow if that's a psychological fear or if my body is right in me thinking doing so will tear me in half. My wounds at least don't look worse, but I think I need the surgeon's input to know if they look better. The rest of them are incredibly tight, but closed, dry, and healing. My drains are done, so those will come out tomorrow. I hope to God that means showering, but my wounds may be in the way of that. I pray not.

On a positive note, I drove yesterday! It may have been less than a mile to the drive through pharmacy, but I drove! When I got in the car, I had trouble reaching the door to close it, but after some maneuvering, managed.

A friend of a friend is coming to walk Ferg at 8:30 and the regular dog walker comes at 2. So doggie is set for the day.

Otherwise, no plans for today other than sitting and healing. I made an appointment to get my hair colored next Monday. Not sure how I'll get there or how I'll manage there, but I need it so badly, I'm going to make it happen. I think I could drive it in a week. By then I'll be over a month since my last coloring. I usually go every 2.5 weeks, so it's fair to say I look like a skunk.

Cecily, that is a LOT of progress reported above. Congratulations. I hope you get to shower ASAP! Tomorrow, even.

Weight 118.6, calories 908, sodium double the allowed amount! Those darn mozzarella/prosciutto sticks are filling but WAY too much sodium. I need to pay more attention...

Nice that you cooked Ann. I should do that more often too.

I am a bit depressed today but don't know why. I am sitting on the pond beach hoping it will clear (too cool on ocean beaches).

Have a thorough Tuesday!

Greetings Tuesday Terrific Ones

!49 today. Not good. I have been slowly gaining this past year. Its a bit of cheese here, a few nuts there and an extra glass of wine. As stated, I need to put good in to get good out. Or maybe "put less in and get more off". I was fairly active yesterday and am convinced that is much of my issue. I made Popeye Pie last night and served with cherry tomatoes. A good bariatric friendly dinner.

Ann good on you for getting out and about and for cooking a lovely healthy dinner for yourself. The act of cooking can be as nourishing as the food itself.

Diane O, great picture. What a lovely spot. And congrats on posting it. I still haven't figured it out even though I have done it in the past. I even got some instructions from OH but they were in hieroglyphics (yeah I know thats spelled wrong but autocorrect wanted to put in hypoglycemia)

Miss150 I am with you - mosquitoes LOVE me and I HATE them. They come after me from miles around. Thats one reason we live where we do - there are not too many of them. Its the main reason I refuse to consider camping.

Cecily, glad you are mending even if slowly. Hope it speeds up.

Shel I am glad you are getting the SOS device. There was a terrible event here years ago where an artist went out to pleine air paint as she often did. Took a bad fall. Died slowly. Look up Ingrid Nickelsen artist if you want the details. So be safe my friend.

And hey Shel, I made a hoodoo yesterday! - or started one. I am doing a sculpture of a California condor and I was going to have it on top of a little mountain peak but as I started to make the peak I thought, why not a hoodoo? So we will see how it works. Have to figure out the striations and how to make them without being shiny.

Well its overcast and calm here for the moment. I don't think any rain is predicted so no excuses for goofing off. Well actually, there is more coffee. Cheers all. Diane S

It is the Tuesday after Memorial Day, which means school is HELL! We have 9 school days left. The students are antsy, so keeping them busy and productive is a must. Otherwise, I will go stark raving mad! LOL!

It is also the first truly HOT day of spring today. It's already close to 90 degrees. Should top out somewhere around 94. The heat adds to student inability to focus and concentrate on school appropriate behavior. Heck, let's face it, it makes it hard for me, too! Not looking forward to the next 8 days of school! Onward patient teachers, marching on towards break...Onward patient teachers.....

My twin students are the heirs to a fruit farm owned by their maternal great grandmother. They went cherry picking and I have sitting on my table a gallon bag filled with hand picked cherries. OMG, DELICIOUS!!!!!!

Well, go figure. When I suggested we actually get started on the Great Pantry Purge, I was met with resistance. "You mean you want to do it TODAY?" "Shouldn't we wait a bit?" When I asked why since it was his idea, he said he didn't think I would jump on it so quickly and HE wasn't ready to let go of some things yet. Guess he needs to wrap his brain around a few of his own truths! I get that. I did not know he had brought home a big bag of M&Ms. He was munching those down last night. Perhaps he is more waste not want not than he believes....

I prepped all my lunches for the week yesterday. So far, so good.

Weight is stable... still up a tad, but I'm working towards that 4 in the tens place!

Diane S, I'm going to burst your bubble. Your weight gain is due to too many calories going in than your body uses. upping the exercise will do very little for weight loss, but it won't hurt. It's really about creating a calorie deficit. Take from me - the Regain Kid. I have rationalized my way to almost total regain. But it boils down to the fact that I eat in a manner that does not support long term weight loss or a healthy lifestyle. Yes, I am working on slow, incremental changes, but it's damn hard. Just saying, please consider looking at your food life rather than your exercise life to get the extra pounds off. Pot calling the kettle black? Yes, perhaps, but I am one who has managed to gain weight while continuing to be active and maintaining a strength and fitness level that most of my friends find enviable. I am ready for the virtual smack upside the head now!

Ann, glad you had a nice time at the Loft.

Diane O., name of lake? Looks gorgeous!

Paula, nothing but love coming your way.

Cecily, good on you for driving. The tight scar thing is normal. It's terrifying, but you won't tear in half.

Liz, sorry you are down today. I get that. In your shoes, I would have trouble staying positive all the time. You have had your share of tragedy in your life. To me there is nothing more horrific than losing a child. That loss is catastrophic and I can't imagine ever being really the same after that loss. Now you are slowly losing your husband. He's not even the man you married anymore. Allow yourself the time to actively grieve as you need. Hugs!

Thank you, Devon. I try to be positive and tend to be an optimistic person but sometimes...

Well Peps, "pop" goes the bubble. Yeah you are right that calorie deficit is really what makes you lose weight. Dr. Cirangle says so too. I just feel like I have really slowed down and think of our trip to Italy where we ate pizza and gelato daily with no weight gain due to 4 times the usual step. But it ain't gonna happen. Note to self: start tracking.

I was wondering if school was almost out. Countdown to a summer of fun.

Liz, sorry you are feeling down. Hope you are back to your usual positive self soon. DS
