Happy Memorial Day, when we honor the brave soldiers who have lost their lives for us. We had friends in our former hometown who lost their officer son in Afghanistan when he as in his early thirties. There were so many tributes to him, but his famity was just so devastated to lose him.

Weight 118.2, calories 1028. I need to buckle down and de-carb for a bit here. We leave for Aruba in 12 days (for 2 weeks), and I don't like going while at (or slightly above) the top of my weight range. We have no eating events between now and then, so I'm going to try to stick closely to plan.

I keep thinking of Paula and her family in this important time with Ben. These last days are so precious even though so difficult.

Have a memory Monday.

Yes Paula, thinking of you.

pain filled day yesterday for no good reason. Starting the 6 th week of the total knee replacement and am told that it gets better after this.

Out to water and then a short sloooooow walk up the street. Sigh. It has come to this, although I have managed to conquer the basement stairs, holding on for grim life and going down one step at a time. Physio wants us to be able to go up and down stairs like when we were 16. Hmmmmmmmmmmm.

may your day be filled with love and kindness.

Paula-I'm not able to get into caringbridge but it sounds like you have decided to take off from work to spend these next few weeks with Ben. Please know you are in my nightly prayers. I hope his pain is managed and you are able to spend as much time with him as possible. Please let others help take care of you too.

Today we remember our fallen. So thankful for the brave men and women who gave the ultimate sacrifice so that we can live this life!

Weight: 169

Weight is definitely a bit high. Need to reign things in tomorrow.

Yesterday we had a cookout and swimming. Rich and I smoked a brisket and omg it was deeeelish.

Paula, God's grace and blessings be with you and your family. Please, take loving care of yourself as you lovingly take care of Ben.

Weight- 155.2. A big weekly drop (3.4#) at this stage of the game. 5# to the top of my goal, and 10# away from the sweet spot. Could it be the magic of increased veggies I'm trying to eat? Most are consumed raw as I miss the crunch factor that comes with snack type foods. Hmmm, how does the crunch of a carrot hold up against the thin crack and pop of the delicate outer shells as a-fistful-o-M&Ms are thrown into one's pie-hole?

Coffee with Kurt and Noodle was especially enjoyable this morning. It will not be too long before the heat chases me inside for the day.

Enjoy your Memorial Day, and remember.

Thanks. Scales have been stingy of late-1/2 here, 1 there, followed by nothing.

I live in Southeast Kansas. -dosen't look much like Dorothey's Kansas, does it? I figure way back when the who knows what was carving and chewing up what is now known as the Ozarks--well, after Roscoe (I have no idea what its name is) had finished and was flying its self back to whence it came, said Roscoe burped just a bit of those Ozarks onto this bit of land. Just enough to roll a few hills, carve out some streams and a few muddy rivers, and make things nice and varied.

Not only is today a day we pay tribute to the brave and fallen, it is a day that for me signifies the beginning of summer.

Weight is stable, but rightfully so. My eating was just off yesterday. Busy morning, so all I ate was a small banana until 2:30. By the time I ate I didn't really care what I ate and I ate a bit too much. The "gang" decided on Zachary's Chicago Style (stuffed) pizza for dinner prior to the movie. I ate the topping off one piece and had a full piece. SALTY. Then I took a few handfuls of Ron's popcorn at the movie and ate some candy, too.

The good news - the movie was a fun, feel good, laugh out loud movie. I can't imagine anyone on this board not enjoying it. So, if you have a chance, go see The Book Club. It's well worth it!

Allergies are in full force again. Weather beautiful. It is supposed to get close to 90 degrees, which is a bit warm, but it beats the mid 60s which is what we had most of last week.

I'm glad you all see what I saw in good old Hershel Strong (real name is Alexander Smith - Hershel is his REAL middle name).

I will let you know how the pantry cleaning goes.

You should. It's very good. I thought about you and Ann and Shel in particular during the movie.

No weight today. It would entail taking off my sweatshirt and quite honestly I don't feel like it.

Same old same old here. I backed out of the driving outing yesterday in favor of a nap. I couldn't keep my eyes open.

Sending hugs to all who might need them!
