I especially enjoyed the FB pictures of your porch and property yesterday. Absolutely gorgeous! So inviting. The lawn and trees were also beautiful but I immediately took note of the need for lawn mowers :)
Enjoy your holiday, friends and memories.

LOL! Yes, those pictures definitely clarify my need for lawn mowers that are in excellent condition!
I'm headed out shortly for The Big City, but it's so pretty here today I almost wish I were staying home.

Ann,
The scale gods must be smiling down on us collectively --155.8 I do try to remember the fickle nature of the beast- as frustrating as they can be, they cause me daily to take inventory of eating behaviors. If I'm correct with those, I'm ok. I do agree that sometimes it takes a while for our bodies to "give it up" ,and thus the sudden adjustment on scales.
Beautiful outside today. We have a community "Church Service in the Park" this morning. It is a time when I get to see casual acquaintances outside of my day to day encounters that I don't see often (sort of an Easter Parade, as it were). I haven't been in 3 years, afraid of the judgement that goes with such a drastic weight gain--logic being, if comments are freely given regarding large weight losses, then of course, the opposite applies. Crazy the self imposed incarceration I impose upon myself due to my own harsh judgement. Like Peps said in an earlier post, it's hard to wipe the earlier messages- regarding what makes a person worthy, lovable, acceptable, whatever- that are pounded into you as a child by family and social indoctrination.
DH downstairs..time to stop dilly-dally-ing and enjoy some more of this wonderful Memorial Day weekend.
Smiles your way!

Re Estates. It's so sad how even family members who normally get along cease to do so when dividing up an estate. I hear people say all the time "I don't care" and "we won't argue about it." I still feel like, at least with regard to big items, it's good for the deceased family member to have it written down.
Liz-pooh on the rain, though bills are necessary. DH needs to get some done today but we are having a pool party/bbq! Difficult with an infant because so many things to get done and sometimes only one of us can be productive at a time!
Ann-happy anniversary. My parent's first day was the Saturday before Memorial Day :)
Yesterday was such a wonderful day that I don't even care what my weight was!
It began by getting Nugget up and we went to the Farmer's market. I didn't buy too much--purple asparagus, green onions, beets, zucchini, zucchini bread, and a strawberry preserves. Nugget and I then stopped at the nearby coffee shop before heading home. At home DH and I ate zucchini bread and fruit salad and then took Nugget for a walk around our neighborhood. Before lunch we went to meet the person I think will watch Rebecca. She has a 2.5 year old herself and I'm worried he may be rough with her :( But I think I'd be worried with anyone so I still think this woman will get the gig. We then had salad for lunch. I spent the rest of the afternoon preparing dinner and our brisket for today. For dinner last night we smoked chicken leg quarters and I made asparagus and white bean salad, and a watermelon, blueberry, feta salad. Chicken was awesome, love the bean salad, bu****ermelon salad wasn't the greatest. I took that and a Sam's-bought mac and cheese over to my parents to eat with my aunts and uncles. Aunt also brought humus and pita and mom put out veggie tray and we topped it all off with strawberry shortcake. It was a beautiful evening. We watched "The shootist" outside as it was John Wayne's birthday.

Weight 155.4 in my garb
Day 19 of my captivity... I have narrowed down my regret to this thigh lift and it's accompanying complications. Everything else is healing well, but my world now revolves around my groin and not in a fun way! I did sneeze for the first time yesterday and in no way recommend it after stomach muscle tightening. Ouch.
My friend is taking me out to drive around a bit yoday just to get me out of the house and focused on something other than this chair.
My weight keeps dropping even though I'm eating peanut butter and jelly sandwiches in addition to other heavier stuff like a hamburger with some fries and chicken parmigiana with pasta. I'm getting more than 120g of protein a day per the surgeon, but healing is sucking up a lot of calories.
Groin is not improving. But I'm following the protocol. I wonder what comes next.
Hugs!
Please do keep eating. Crazy about the need for extra calories but just roll with it!
Thigh lifts! Peeps seem to ultimately very happy with the results despite frequent complications. I'm glad the rest of you is doing well so hopefully your body can focus its healing on the groin.
Loved that picture of Fergie....he is obviously such a love.

Good morning,
I love the extra sun. It is already dawn at 3:45am, my usual "up" time on weekdays. I go to bed when it is still light, too.
Paula, loved the pic's of you, Addison and Ben. You are indeed beautiful.
About sleep: I made April "improve sleep" month which largely revolved going to bed on time as well as less caffeine in general. I have been able to mostly maintain those gains. I think my face looks more rested and I know that I feel better. I don't think I will ever get to sleeping 8 hours a night but I think 7 per night should be doable on the regular.
Hike yesterday was good, particularly notable because I really wasn't feeling like it when I got up. Then I read BB's 8 year post and remembered how grateful I am to be able to do such a thing. This forum is so helpful in so many unpredictable ways.
I went to Mt Si which is a close-in hike with something for everyone: 7-8 miles and over 3000 ft gain. Mountaineer wannabes hike it with fully loaded packs as fast they can. But it also appropriate for novices, families and everyone in-between. I went really early before the parade really got started. I am faster this year than last and my legs manage the down-the-mountain stress so much better than last year. I didn't feel the need for hiking sticks to save my knees. I felt......young!
Dave, public service announcement: If your CBD is synthetic you should look up an Illinois (?) public health notice stating that some of the synthetics are acting like a vitamin k antagonist (so....like warfarin) Particularly important to know if one is having a procedure! Again, I think (don't know) that this is limited to synthetics.
Have a great day all! Personally, I am going to Mecca -- the flagship REI in Seattle.

Re estates, I have a distinct memory of when our across the street neighbor passed away. She and her husband (also deceased) had no children. There was a screaming match on the front lawn with nieces/other relatives when they were dividing up the stuff. One was an antique leather tooled-top desk. One of the nieces took a letter opener and sliced open the entire leather top during the fight. So disgraceful!!!
Good thing nothing like that happened! DH is happy and that is what counts. He chose some memorabilia to remind him of his parents including a Harvard chair which apparently is in need of some touch ups but it was his Dads so he is pleased (BIL didn't want it or we probably wouldn't be getting it).

Greetings Sunday Lovers
Sounds like everyone has a good weekend so far and there is an extra day for some of us. 148.5 today. My own dang fault (like when would it not be my fault as I have yet to be force fed in my life). Yesterday included peanuts and such.
I did get some extra walking in due to visit to the farmers market. I picked up a couple of heather plants from the heather lady, some lovely snow peas, and some locally made beef sticks. I asked the vendor about the calorie count and we had a discussion of nutrition and sugar and the weight loss surgery thing came up. She told me I was the first person she had met that it had really worked for and everyone she knew had all kinds of complications and regain. I told her that was in part due to the procedure selected and other factors. Interesting what bad information is out there. Also there used to be a surgeon around here that I heard many bad stories about. So grateful for my own choice.
Carbon is right. Tree spiking is indeed dangerous. When we first moved here there were active tree sitters and a dispute about some old growth trees. I think the lumber company finally agreed to put them under protection and leave them be. But if you buy burl wood products you have to make sure they come from a legally harvested place.
Boy, the stories I could tell about estates I handled and people fighting about the dumbest stuff. Of course, its just the manifestation of stuff from years back but is it really worth being estranged from your only sibling over the Wedgewood china? I am so lucky my brothers and I didn't do any of this. Indeed, it was more like nobody wants this stuff and how do we get rid of it! But we all had years to take anything we wanted with my mom's blessing as her house was uninhabited and we all have just a few things we really wanted. Plus I think my brothers and I all had plenty of time to acquire our own junk and didn't need more.
Yep Ann, we all want to come hang out at your farm. It looks so peaceful and lovely. I am so impressed with all that you do and how you are managing this phase of life.
Today we go to friends for a cookout. This is the downsized version. I made the chicken liver pate last night (liberal sampling by me for quality control purposes) plus a few livers for the dogs. Today I make the cheese crisps and those constitute the pre dinner snacks.
Cecily hang in there. I have a feeling that your chair is not going to go to a charity but be burned at the stake!
Peps, I think I too will go cut some roses for the house. Gotta stop and smell some.
But first, I smell coffee.... Diane S
