157.6 garbed up

So much positive energy on here today! I'm going to just try to soak some of that up and improve my mood a bit...

Hey, girlie! You are simply living the old adage Beauty Knows No Pain!

Yeah, it probably hurt like hell, your wounds aren't healing as you hoped, but they will heal, and you are going to look like a million bucks when this is all done.

Oh, and you've got Fergus! Looking at his pics gives me the warm fuzzies. I can't imagine what he does to one in person.

Whenever I am in a brutal funk about Ron I sit down and write a list about the plusses and the deltas in our relationship. Doing so never fails to pull me out of my ridiculous funk, because the plus side is always so much longer than delta side. I applied the same principal to school this year at times. It kept me sane realizing how much more positive I find in my work than negative.

I'm sorry this post plastics period is such a trying time for you. We are here for you, so vent and qvetch away. Post us some fugly pics so we can commiserate!

Hugs!

Thank you, Peps!!! I needed that. I'll work on a list this morning.

Today I'm feeling like a crappy dog mom because I can't take a Ferg for the walk he wants. The dog walker is coming at 2 and he can go in the backyard, but he doesn't want to. So he's been begging me for 2 hours.

Today is 18 days and I'm just worn down and worn out... off to make my list!

Hoodoo village and trees for your soul

In the second pic there is a redwood with a big gnarl on it that looked like a face as I hiked towards it. I was in a foul mood because I was taking DD's teenage foul mood too personally. Gnarl-face set me straight. Or at least tried to. Maybe he will have better luck with you :)

Gnarl Face is awesome. Do you see that he's smiling at your mood?

Absolutely! It is on a very large redwood so the gnarl is also very large. We had a long time to observe each other as I made my way down the path. I kept thinking I would lose the illusion as I got closer but, nope.....still there when I was close enough to snap a pic. Glad you can see him, too.

Gnarly face tree is so cool. Don't know about this gnarl but redwoods get these big bumpy growths on them called burls. They are prized for their beautiful work. Poachers actually sneak into the protected areas and saw off the burls, leaving the old tree with square chunks out of it!!!! Talk about a crime against nature. One of the things the guerrilla tree huggers used to do is put metal spikes into old redwoods so it would wreck the saw of anyone trying to cut. ds

I wondered about the burl connection. DH is a pretty good woodworker and has made bowls, etc from burl wood. If I remember right, it is hard to work with because the crazy grain makes saws jump.

But, I didn't know how burls looked on a tree. Pretty awful to think of poachers defiling an ancient giant. No wonder guerrilla tree huggers exist.
