Good morning!

Weight: 167.4

8 years ago today my life changed when i had VSG. It was life changing in so many ways. I feel kinda like I got a second chance to finally do all those things I had wanted to do.

I may be a few pounds over my low weight this year, and about 12lbs. from where I was this time last year, but I feel more confident than ever that I can keep rocking this.

What an awesome ride this has been!! I've done countless things that I never could've/would've before. Does wls/weightloss make life better. Yes and no. My life was not "bad" overweight, and it's not perfect now, but it can definitely open up more doors, and at the very least gives me more confidence to walk through those doors. I'm less afraid to meet and talk to new people, knowing that they aren't seeing my extra 100lbs. walk in a room first. I never spend hours worrying about chairs size, or while I'm there self-consciously wondering if my thigh is touching the person next to me. I ride rides without attention to weight limits. I wear swimsuits (in front of others!). The clothes...oh the clothes!! I spent my entire life relegated to "pretty plus" and I think I will spend the rest of my life trying to make up for it!! I've gone go-karting and horseback riding and 4 wheeling and rafting. I've gotten married and actually enjoyed dress shopping!! I've had a baby and didn't entirely wig out about weight. And even though I do think about calories and food still, and post here often, the need to lose weight isn't the only story of my life, and what a huge sad energy-sucker it was before. I am so grateful. Shortly after my surgery, my mom so sweetly said "I'm so excited for other people to see you the way I always have." WLS has allowed me to be who I am and do what I want to do!

Good morning BB! Did the nugget get you up earlier than usual?

Weight 118.8 (arghhh), calories 931. Thursday's high calories are hitting today and I'm also a little backed up (probably not 3 pounds worth, but one can only hope).

The sun is out and it is 70 already! I'm planning on going to the beach at the pond around the corner in about an hour. I would LOVE to go to the ocean, but we have family stuff this afternoon so there isn't time.

We have to go split up the remaining furniture and trinkets from MIL's estate. She passed away over a year ago and nothing has been distributed yet. We are in the process of making final payments on our September Scotland/Ireland/Paris trip and I have to pay for a new deck, so I'm hoping the estate gets finished soon. I don't want to tap into our other principal if I can avoid it at this point. Executor (BIL) is quite well-off so he doesn't seem to feel any need to do the distribution on any particular schedule.

I hope Paula's sons graduation went well and Ben was able to attend. I know it was very important to him. Two weeks before my daughter passed (and she was on hospice), she insisted that we celebrate her brothers birthday as usual and go out to Olive Garden. She had a large exterior drainage bag, she was totally loopy on medication to combat severe nausea, and had difficulty walking but it was important to her to do it (she did make it but there were some rough moments).

Have a superlative Sunday and don't procrastiPost too much!

Yeah a little! About 6:30, so she "only" slept for about 8 hours yesterday. Maybe 9! But I also knew I wanted to take her to the farmer's market this morning and we have a busy Memorial Day weekend!!

All the feels today, you guys. I feel truly grateful for this group. You really challenge me to be better--not just with respect to calories and exercise, but in life as well. I'm in awe with how great all of you are at life. I know this has been a challenging year for many of you, and the way you handle it with grace and raw truth and optimism only inspires me all the more.

Congratulations on eight years, Bonnie ! Nicely said, and very inspiring. What a great way to start us off today !

Looking forward to a great three day weekend. Will post two pictures of my outdoor painting projects. The metal star on the side of the barn (shed) has pinholes and solar lights behind it, and twinkles at night. Inside are some gardening tools and a big dog rug and five gallon water bubbler.. the dog house, which is why one door is bungyed open. The small barn (ex-playhouse) is additional storage and a sitting area up top, and the shaded dog pool / white stone area below. We have two adult hammock swings also. Time to mow again, but plan to enjoy the yard lots !

Thinking of you, Paula !! Peace and good family time to all !

P.S. Double photos are on my profile page...just can't make them appear here. Thwarted again, but on my bucket list !!

I was going to just quickly read before leaving house but I had to post to congratulate BB on 8 years!!! I particularly appreciate your learnings on finding a personalized path that truly (!) works for you thru regular life and pregnancy. Quite a journey!

LOL about wondering "if my thigh is touching the person next to me...." so very true!

And also sadly true about the need to lose weight being an energy-sucker.

Lets go celebrate! I'm going to a mountain because I CAN. Find your toes! (Still thinking about that cutie Adalyn which I am sure I am misspelling, apologies!) Find your recess. Enjoy a delicious nap! Create wit and whimsy and boxer shorts!

Hugs to all! (Extra one for you, Paula)

BB, what a wonderful surgiversary post. I keep forgetting that you've been at this maintenance thing twice as long as I have. My four-year visit is coming up this August.

My post-cruise weight is stabilizing. The 5 pounds from 2.5 weeks on the ship and a trans-Atlantic flight have gone in only 16 days. I'd like to lose only one more pound in June before my next trip starts. My body's willingness to cooperate and quickly lose my quickly-gained vacation weight just knocks me out! :)

My Social Security appointment yesterday was almost painless. Turns out, the SS lady I was supposed to meet with called early in the morning and said, "Let's do this on the phone so you don't have to come in--and no, I don't need to see your marriage license or death certificate." So huzzah for our kind, federal government employees. :)

I got SO much done yesterday, and the place is looking great! The hired grandsons rock-raked all the driveways using my tractor (which I STILL don't know how to operate), weed whacked, and power-washed their little hearts out. And I mowed. We have lots more summer projects lined up--cutting a fire lane through woods, replacing/repairing a porch ceiling, and painting porches, decks, and outside window trim, among others.

A funny (positive) thing seems to be happening for many of my friends in the last week: A lot of them have been struggling with some truly crappy developments related to their families, health, work, etc. But now, quite suddenly, things are going much better for them all. Put another way, the disturbance in the force seems to be self-correcting. I hope you all are also benefiting from this correction. :)

Today I'm going to be domestic, but I want to be self-indulgent, too. I'll figure that out, right after I get the laundry going. ;)

Paula, I'm thinking of you and yours throughout the day. David and Cecily, I hope your recoveries from surgery progress wonderfully this weekend. And I'm thinking of every member of our little band throughout the day. I treasure the touchpoints we make here.

Today's theme: Be good to yourself.

Checking in!

DS #2 is all graduated and Ben was able to make the ceremony along with my parents! Yay!

We went from winter here to 90's - go figure. I'm not complaining though. I would rather have 90's any day rather than snow!

Congrats on 8 years BB! Nice reflections too!

While I am about 10 pounds above where I would like to be weight wise. I was pretty pleased with how I looked in the graduation pics. This is certainly the longest I've been able to keep the majority of weight lost off, so that is a win!

Love to you all!
