I do post some on the regular forums especially the menu threads, but I have to admit that I am very careful about what I say because some of them may jump on you. I think it is actually a minority but it does tend to squelch a lot of people (IMO).
I feel like this group is more in touch with reality and managing our lives in a healthy way as best we can (mentally and physically). I like that there is no judgement here. There is kindness and help when we ask for it but it is never forced on us.

No weight, no tracking but I did get good exercise in the last 2 days, none so far today and probably won't. I do know my weight is up though. Lots of sweets while Ben's family was here.
All of the family visiting is over. The last of them left yesterday. Unfortunately, their plane flight from Chicago to VW got cancelled last night and the only way they can get back to WV today is to go via Houston! It will be a long day for them.
I will return to work tomorrow after having a week off. I think I could get used to not working, lol! Need the paycheck however and that will be even more important once our major bread winner is gone! Ben continues to decline, fatigue has turned into sleeping a lot more and he continues to not eat much. He is on some pretty heavy duty pain meds - long acting morphine twice daily which he supplements with either hydrocodone or short acting liquid morphine. He should be done with grading by the end of the week and then it should be smooth sailing on the work front until his "retirement" date of June 3rd. DS #2 graduates in 10 days. DS#1 started his intensive day mental health program this morning (finally!). He will attend Monday-Friday for 4-6 hours a day.

Greetings Tuesday Travelers
It is Tuesday, right? As a retired person I sometimes have to think about what day it is. Fortunately my computer calendar keeps me together.
Good post Ann. I am surely a recovering food addict by the definitions provided. Not sure I see much advantage to labeling myself as such except maybe to recognize the problem and use some of the tried and sort of true strategies for handling the issue. If I understand it, its not something you ever fully overcome and leave behind but manage daily.
Interesting thoughts on this group too. This group got started years ago when I was stuck in a hotel room in Scottsdale for a week with a new laptop and not much to do. Some of the people who had then reached goal were wondering "now what?". I love how over the years it has morphed into a discussion of the issues of daily life as well as weight maintenance as they are intertwined and even inseparable.
DH spend yesterday in the attic trying to install cable so that our wi fi works in the garage so that it can talk to the electric car. I could hear much cursing overhead during that time. We have a vaulted living room which means the attic is weird. Fortunately the wifi seems to be working in the garage without DH falling through the ceiling!
Paula glad your sons are making progress in life. Wishing you some peace and comfort in their accomplishments.
Diane O, I hope you get some grass soon. Maybe Ann could send you some. I think I am just going to put wood chips down on the dog paths and forget it. I once went to a garden on a tour which was designed to be dog friendly with paths and such but I don't remember the strategies.
Thanks to Ann I have been trying to do more f and v. Mainly I take baby carrots to the studio and am trying to keep grapes around. DH only wants to eat raw snow peas or raw sugar snaps which is ok but I get sick of them.
Gallery meeting tonight and another board meeting tomorrow night. I usually skip the member meeting of the one gallery but feel like I should show up once in awhile. New artist to vote on whom I think is quite good. Plus more banking. Geez I do that a lot.
My studio roommate is out of town for a few days so I think I will surprise her and mop the floor. It really needs it.
Hey, down to 147.5 today without even jumping up and down on the scale. Remember doing that on those old spring scales? Not a chance with our high tech one. Shrimp and eggs last night, a high protein treat.
Well thats about it. I wish the junk elves would come clean out our living room. No such luck, but the coffee fairy is here. Diane S
Thank goodness for the new laptop in Scottsdale ! Like Ann, I am inspired by the compassion, civility, and genuine fondness on this board. The sarcastic, snarky comments on many of the other boards have significantly decreased the time I spend on them. Yes, everyday life and maintaining balanced health are entwined. Diane, we all owe you a debt of gratitude for your foresight and leadership.

Good afternoon peeps!
Well, I just have so much to say and so little time to do so right now. I have a nano moment of down time, so I shall keep it brief. Possibly, will post again this evening after returning from the gym.
Yesterday turned out to be a little hard in the evening, but I did not cave. I ate extra protein and later more fruit, nuts and yogurt with whipped cream. Met with the shrink yesterday, too. Good timing. One of the things I was able to verbalize was that the difference for me between what I am doing right now on the food front and what I have done before is simply attitude and focus. I am not trying to lose weight. All I am bound and determined to do is to get off sugar and get well. That's how I think of it: Getting Well. The way I have been eating is making me sick on a metabolic level. The effect eating in such a way has on hormones, endocrine systems, metabolic diseases, etc... is very intense. I want to be well, not eating myself "sick" (diabetes, colitis, ulcers, heart diseases, liver disease, etc... you get the picture...) So, my journey has turned away from a focus on weight loss, towards a focus on getting well. I like that. It's taking a lot off my emotional plate.
Check in later....
Ah, yes. Getting my health back. That was my reason for finally screwing up my courage enough to pull the last resort lever -- WLS.
Peps, your perspective is a welcome reminder to me of what was important back then and should be even more important to me now at age 72 -- maintaining my good health as long as possible, to the extent it's within my power to do so.
