Greetings Sunday Sojourners

Not much sun here today but the dogs will get a walk. Still at 148. Slow day at the gallery and my iPad was running out of juice so I did walking lunges in circles around the room. I drank an organic whey protein shake that wasn't half bad.

Welcome (back) Bonnie. Glad to have you. Please tell us how you were successful with dealing with the regain. What an accomplishment. And tell us about your life as all of life's issues seem to be woven into this weight management thing.

Well Liz, glad you have a slow day today. Driving and funerals are stressful. Hope Justice isn't sick.

Cute pic of Buster Shel. Even 5 miles sounds like a butt burner to me! No wonder Buster was tuckered out.

Today is another scrabble party so it will be fun to meet up with some old friends. Some of these people are frighteningly good players but no one takes it too seriously. But it will be a food free for all. Pot luck hippie food. Healthy but full of brown rice. I will have to drive by the health food deli to have something to offer.

Diane O you always offer such thoughtful posts. You should write a blog or book.

Thinking of Ann on the glorious cruise. Can't wait to hear about it.

Coffee and peace to all. Diane S

Pot luck hippie food full of brown rice . And kale too no doubt! Or quinoa (like eating sand).

Back to Bryce Canyon.....

Here is the site for the in-park lodge: The lodge in Bryce Canyon Nation Park. It has always been my dream to stay in a park lodge but have yet to accomplish that.

The Lodge is between Sunset Point and Sunrise Point.....you can easily walk to either. The lodge has some sort of restaurant (breakfast/lunch/dinner) and gift shop but I didn't go into any of it.

Sunset and Sunrise points aren't all that far from one another. And,either point does well for Sunset or Sunrise.....they just had to name the points something. Dogs are allowed on the paved sidewalks in the park. The paved sidewalks ring the rim and I wouldn't be surprised if some peeps only walk the rim and never go into the Canyon. It goes a bazillion miles (or 32) so more than enough for most people.

Some would say that the view from the rim are the best views anyway. I also rather liked he walks down into the canyon, too. You don't have to go very far down to get a slightly different hoodoo views. Those trails aren't paved (so no dogs) but they are just about as smooth as a trail can be.

Just outside the entrance of the park there is a small village (Canyon Village?) where there are a couple of Best Westerns (plus other lodging) and a bunch of touristy stuff. A lot of them are named Rosie-this and Rosie-that. There was something really unappealing about that whole development. Usually I like touristy stuff, because I am a tourist.

When I was in Zion, an art gallery gal told me that land just outside of Bryce is owned by a Bryce descendant so hotels and restaurants...everything.... in that little town are owned by one person. "No competition" is how the Zion person described it. I would add that one person doesn't seem to have a knack of how to create a touristy town that makes tourists want to linger and spend money. I ended up staying in Tropic. In general, the whole Bryce area appears to be a food desert. I have never seen such poor food choices in grocery stores. That makes that Lodge in Bryce all the more appealing, I think.

(Zion, in contrast, had a small commercial area with a variety of lodging/galleries/restaurants/decent grocery and I definitely was will to spend money on it all. No excellent salmon jerky, tho)

There is a bus shuttle in Bryce that goes to all the best places (including the lodge), so you don't have to drive and park within the park....much easier that way.

I did feel like I was on a Star Wars set when I walked in the canyon. I don't think my pictures ever adequately captured that feeling. In fact, that whole park is vista after vista.....my mind's memory is much better than the pictures.

Anyway, I easily see you and DH there. Maybe with a dog or two. Lots of relaxing to be done there, too.

Wow Shel! I wish I could see that someday. With DH's issues, I don't think I will, so thank you for the pictures!

Well, Miss150's lifted my spirits. If she can come back from a 125 pound regain, there is no reason why I can't come back from mine. Right? Right! It is also so very nice to know there is someone like me out there who is willing to step into the light.

Anyhow...I am battling with myself over my sugar fondness/attraction/compulsion/addiction/consumption/etc... I am eating less, yes, but there is that old all or nothing part of me that wants to force myself into compliance. Heavens, this is a mental game....

Living in the moment. I did plenty of that on Friday and as I've said when I live in the moment I do not think through consequences or future goals. Again, I must live in the awareness of the moment to be successful. Such a minor difference, but for me a significant one.

I have noticed a change in my perception of all y'alls successes and weight strategies. While I still look at trim attractive men and have my self incriminating and demeaning "I hate you" thoughts, I am not doing the same when I read the successes with you. I am reflecting more on what you write and seeing how I might incorporate some of your thinking into my own life. I know I must make things work for me on a personal front, but I am feeling inspired by you (especially Diane O's inner harmony) rather than jealous. That for me is a large and peaceful step.

Must Run! People to see and things to do. Oh, Ella and Phil will be making puppies again this week (fingers crossed, please!)

Happy Sunday.

My first thought seeing Miss150's post was, ooh she'll be good for Peps!
