I am sure Ben deserves the award, even without illness.
But I will say that I also won an award well into my year of treatment. Like Ben, I didn't take sick time except right after mastectomy.
But, that doesn't mean I was entirely present either. In hindsight. I should have taken time off cuz I was so unreliable. Everyone was super understanding when things came up (sometimes literally) and my schedule had to be shuffled. I never got a whiff of annoyance from coworkers or patients.
So, I put them thru hell for months, wasn't very productive, and they give me a freaking award. WTH. When I brought it up to someone, she said something like, we couldn't help ourselves, people think a lot of you.
So often people are gone without opportunity to experience a shower of affection. Maybe Ben's illness played a part, but this was an opportunity for his professional community to show their love. They think a lot of him. What a gift for all.

Illness can make us take stock of how much we appreciate someone and want to make sure that person knows it. It's not a cancer award, it's a we want Ben to know how much his efforts matter. And teaching as long as he has through his illness is heroic and deserves acknowledgement so that is part of it too no doubt!

148.5 today thanks to that evil pizza. One slice was dinner. Yesterday was a good day. We went and test drove a Volt and a Bolt. Both very nice cars. I liked the Volt better because of the range, it seemed roomier and the way the hatch back opens and seats fold for dog cages. Yep, they must fit any car we get. But DH has his heart set on the Bolt as he thinks the technology is better. With all the tax credits from feds and state its a pretty good deal. We will probably buy through costco so we can get color choices. Both these were black. Hate black cars.
Then we went to the nursery and got some flowers and such. I did a little gardening in the front with thick gloves. Don't think I did any damage.
TeeHee, DH is snoring in his recliner and Tesla is sitting and staring at him like the RCA Victor dog.
Liz sounds like a fun reunion. My college one is this summer but its such a huge trek back there I don't think I will go. I would sort of like to do a high school one as I was fat at the last one but again, too much travel. Glad Chiquita has perked up.
Awesome pictures Shel. Is that park pretty crowded? Many more hoodoos to you.
Gallery duty today but no fudge for me. Its sunny and should stay that way all week so at least we will get visitors.
So we watched our nephew's home remodel show. Judson and Lalo (Laura's nick name). It was great. We had seen the results but the designers managed to make a drama out of it. Very fun.
Hey Paula, congrats to Ben on the award. A nice tribute. Enjoy the event.
Cecily nice of you to surprise your aunt. So glad you have good cousins. The older we get the more important it is to have good family.
And the older we get the more important it is to have good coffee. Time for more. Diane S
Not too crowded even tho it is spring break. I read somewhere that it gets the least love of the Utah National Parks. The park itself is terrific, exactly what you would expect of a NP. The towns around it aren't very commercialized, for better or worse. The park looks to be the only entertainment.
From the outside, the lodge within the park looked nice. I never plan far enough ahead to score a room in the lodge.
Elevation, tho, is 7700 ft. I am pretty sure my house at home is 100 ft. I think I have a touch of altitude sickness. I love that everyone gets a terrific view since we all start at the rim. Peeps can walk on the flat around the rim or venture down into the canyon as much, or as little, as they want.
I do love Utah. 80 miles per hour and frequent rest areas. Drive fast, rested. Not a bad motto.
Hey! When I get back I will get that Humbolt hiking book back to you! You really do live in a fab area....Redwoods, nature preserves......on and on.

Weather in the 50's today. Picked up topsoil to begin to work the raised beds and Atlas yard holes, as well as more river rocks to repair the holes in the garden Atlas has designed. Got both dogs a horse ball at Tractor Supply...something they can't pop in fifteen seconds. Normal eating until 5 PM tomorrow, then colonoscopy prep begins!

I don't know if I weighed today or if I weighed yesterday. I was up 2 pounds. Had a great workout on Friday, so I'm chocking it up to water weight. LOL! That's total BS, but it's working for me at the moment.
Dave, I would like to know more about the Podcast - e.g. specific name to "google" so I can subscribe and listen, too!
I want to be retired. Or I want to be less busy. Broken record, huh? I am working on it really. I refused a new client today. Step in the right direction!
Two full days of dog shows has me tired, but I did want to check in and say hey, so..... HEY!
My guess is that if you "retired" it would only be from one element in your life, not all. I can't imagine you giving up dog shows!
