After my TT I wore super soft stretchy leggings - one pair was a little looser and wider (were for yoga I think), but all were easy to pull up and down and comfortable around my middle. Also, I wore camisoles under my compression wrap which made it more comfortable - maybe that would be applicable for LBL too?

Ooh, I bought some undershirts for that purpose. Must find them...

I have had a fair amount of medical care and my bag of stuff has reliably traveled right next to me on my gurney as I moved from one place to another. Typically, they give you a bag to put them in when you arrive. I would plan to use their bag (or place your lightweight bag into their bag) because they are used to That Bag being the patient's belongings.

I know of at least two hospitals where the movements of the patient's belongings are tracked in the medical record. I think this is a worry that you don't have to worry too much about.

I thought the split crotch was horrible to think about before surgery but worked pretty well. I ordered a second garment to make laundering process easier. My garment only went to mid thigh.

The nurse that measured me said I was a small by measurement but she ordered a medium because "no one is really a small" Huh? She was also worried about potential swelling and that a small would be too small. I thought "isn't the right size suppose to help prevent swelling?" Anyway, the medium was ok and it is the one I wore first. When I did put the small on, it was aok, too and not uncomfortable.

I was terrified of What Would Happen the first time I took it off. I had a cartoon image of in my head of literally collapsing into two pieces. That didn't happen ;)

In the end, I didn't have to have my husband's help, but there was a fair amount of maneuvering because of 4 drains/tubing, etc which would give me an electric zap if they were moved in just the wrong way.

I just took it slow and all was fine. I had plenty of time in the day -- what else was there to do?

Thank you, Shel! This is calming me.

I think he gives me two garments, but I was unclear whether it was two of the same garment or two different stages of garments if there is such a thing? It's a good thing I'm not in charge of ordering them, because I'd probably order XL or 1X or something as my brain hasn't caught up completely to my current size.

My mental image of taking them off to use the bathroom was me standing in my bathroom in tears with the garment around my knees because I couldn't get it back up myself and having to call a friend to drive over while I sat naked from the waist up on my raised toilet seat waiting for help to arrive. I'm afraid that isn't a totally out of the realm of possibility scenario! All my close friends how have keys to my house, so at least I won't have to answer the door naked...

I think your what else is there to do? saying will be my mantra. My only job will be healing and taking care of myself.

You know why I sat on the toilet waiting for deliverance? Cement poop.

I thought I had appropriately pre-treated with stool softener (which I normally never use) and miralax (I use regularly but not daily) starting a few days before surgery. And I did fine initially.

But then I slacked off and very quickly suffered for it. It is hard to get that sort of thing turned around.

Don't be a slacker!

Greetings Thursday Peeps and Peps

147.5 today. At least things are stable but I wish I could "misplace" some pounds. I think Cecily and Peps are on to something - self acceptance may result in healthier eating coming more naturally and thereby weight control. Thats sort of what a diet therapist told me once. Like the chinese finger trap where if you pull your fingers hard it tightens up but if you relax, it relaxes too.

Today is a day of no "have to" but plenty of "should do". I have a bunch of small denomination us savings bonds from my mom and to cash them in I have to write my name and address on every one and the bank teller has to stamp and write stuff on every one and then enter data. It takes a lot of time so I am going to go in and take a few each day. Wears my hand out doing all that writing. Also have to close out an account at one bank and they are so friggin' slow.

Dave, glad the kitchen is going well and that you are feeling some pain relief. I bet you are not the first person to crack a counter top so surely there is a way to glue it together. But ya gotta get a rocker there.

Well BB so glad you have a chill baby who likes to sleep. And your weight situation sounds good. Just wait until Becca starts crawling... And I hope your DH gets some resolution on the job front soon. So much productivity is lost when companies announce these things. Liz, I know you remember all that!

And Liz, glad Justice made the trip well. Yeah, Chiquita probably just doesn't want to rough house with another dog and wants her space. They will be fine I bet.

Cecily, I hear you on obsessing about logistics. I do that too. Like on how we are going to set up our new point of sale system and where each item will fit on the desk. I bet your recovery center has a way to transport your bag - do they come pick you up? Or maybe you could take stuff there ahead of time. See, I told you I obsess about logistics. DH's family never thinks about that stuff and I watch things unfold in an inefficient way and nothing gets done and dinner ends up at 10 pm. Drives me nuts.

Paula I sure hope your son gets the help he needs. And that Ben gets some comfortable rest. You too.

Bon Voyage Ann. Have fun. Can't wait to hear your tales when you get back.

Shel, any exotic hikes planned? This weekend is "Godwitt Days" which is a bird watching festival with crafts and lectures and birdwatch trips. Big activity at the marsh/bird sanctuary which is across the street from our studio. So birders will wander in.

Hey BB I went to the store looking for "Just crack an egg". They had exactly one so I bought it. Small town grocery seems to be like that. I will try it today. I had DH look it up and he wants to eat those too.

Well time for the second cup of coffee. Cheers all. Diane S

"Godwitt Days" I like the name. I'll have to look up Godwitt. I am ill-informed.

Have you heard of Hoo-doo Days? I didn't think so. It is the name of Neola, IA's summertime celebration. (Neola is 7 miles from Minden, my home town.) No one knows where the name came from.

Anyway, you asked about next hike. On Saturday I will be at Bryce National Park, where there is the biggest collection of hoodoo's anywhere.

I am sure that Neola's hoodoo's and Bryce's hoodoo's have nothing to do with one another. But I have great hopes that I will score a hoodoo t-shirt. I'll post pics of the hoodoos....stay tuned!

Mostly, I like saying hoodoo.

Sort of like Peeps and Peps. I like that, too. Some things never get old.
