Good day all the way around yesterday. Eating good, back pain good, work on the house productive. It does not matter what the speed... forward is the direction. Putting the kitchen back together. The cabinetmaker really knew what he was doing. (Brag brag). Placing the bar cabinet today and maybe see if the granite top can be glued back together. DW and DD#1 and Adalyn are coming in tonight. I do not have a rocker here but I will make do with holding her as much as she will let me. Liz- Back to your summer home. Hope Justice is fitting right in to the flow of things. My dogs sense when I will be gone and when they are coming with me. Diane S. - You get extra points. Not only did you do your taxes but you are helping other people to get their taxes straighten out. Wow. Paula - Y'all are in my thoughts and prayers. I have the Christmas picture up and think of you often. Diane O.- You look so fit in your hiking pictures on FB. Looks like fun times. VSG Ann-Glad your NOLA trip went so well and upcoming travels are good times. Peps- Way to go with the dog show. Not only did your dogs do well but your talents as trainer, breeder, handler and groomer all shined too. Shel - Smiling and running is out of my comfort zone too. But it did make me laugh. BB- Balance with your sleep, baby sleep, your eating and baby eating, social life in compressed moments to get back to family life. I was 17 when I had DS#1. No balance. You are doing great! Cecily-I am 5-8 always wanted to be taller. Had a friend that was 6-8 and people ALWAYS asked how tall he was. He told them he was 5-20. Travelher- Nice to be a fast healer. Linda- good to hear from you. More later, David

Good morning Dave! Nice to see your face and welcome back Linda!

Weight 118.2, calories around 2000. I was fine with eating until the focaccia bread at the restaurant and then when I got home and there was a fair amount of pandemonium getting settled in. I don't remember where I left the key to my car! I do have the spare one, but where is mine???

Justice was great yesterday! Not a peep out of him and he didn't mess his carry bag during the 8 hours he was in it. He ate and drank well when we got home and this morning and slept quietly overnight. The older chihuahua, Chiquita, gave a warning growl last night but that's about it. Justice has been just checking out the place while giving Chiquita a wide berth. Right now he is on my lap in the sunroom.

It is rainy and quite cool here today - neither Justice nor I was pleased with that this morning, but it is supposed to warm up next week. I take him to the vet this morning to be checked out and get his prescription for heartworm preventative (now that he has been treated). Then I can spend the rest of the day getting the house in order, unpacking and figuring out what we need for food... Thank goodness I don't have to go into work anymore!

Have a thoughtful Thursday!

I panic when I can't find my keys. One time during home health nursing I stopped at a clinic to drop some paperwork. As I closed the door I realized I had just looked my running vehicle with my keys in the ignition. My DW had to drive 20 miles to bring another key. I now have extra keys.

One of the things I did not mention about my dog show weekend was that on the last day my keys fell out of my pocket! I had changed into my work out shorts for the drive home. The shorts have shallow pockets. As I was walking away from the van I felt for my keys and noticed they were not there. I turned around and did not see them on the ground. I figured they were in the van, but promised myself to look for them before I left Cal Expo. Of course, I did not remember and the keys were not in the van. They must have fallen when I got out of the van and I'm guessing were just underneath the van. Oh well... they are only keys. No ID on the key chain, so I have no worries - especially because any door the keys open are 100 miles from where the keys were left!

My school office manager did give me the fish eye when I told her I needed a new room key, though!

It does not matter what the speed, forward is the direction ! Love that David... I'm going to repeat that mantra today as we fly home. Travel is such a crap shoot out here....it could take thirty minutes to four hours to get to the airport, then there's the whole rental car shuttle thing. It does not matter what the speed, forward is the direction.

Thanks for all of the positive feedback on my hiking photo. I do feel fit ! This is the longest I've gone without a scale. Curious but not manic ! Growth !

Weight: 165.6

I think my "real" weight is right around this 165 mark. I'm tempted to be disappointed by it because I felt so good and tone and slender last year at this time when I had shed 12lbs. and was going to Hawaii. And that took what felt like a lot of work. A lot of choosing the right foods, and not eating even when hungry, and taking an appetite suppressant! On the other hand, I've just had a baby and am basically back to my normal weight. For me to be lower takes work--regardless of whether I've had a baby or not!

David-glad the kitchen is getting put back together. I am trying to be balanced, but I have a lot of help! I'm very fortunate to be able to be at home with her in these early weeks, to not have financial stress (ask me that question again next week and I may have a different answer!), nearby grandparents, older stepkids, and a really chill baby. I feel like my biggest advantage is age, actually. When she's having a tough day, I remember it's just a day. My husband had just turned 20 when his first was born. He was in school full-time, working full-time, and very worried about the cost of diapers, etc.!

Liz-wonder what kind of temps you're getting? Our weather has been so bizarre! Quite warm and windy some days (like Tuesday was 85ish!) and then cool and rainy weekends. Boo. Like we had snow weekend before last, a good freeze last weekend, and high 55 with 100% rain this weekend.

Yesterday was not a great eating day, and it somewhat continued that way for the day. I did have a decent crockpot dinner: Moroccan chicken tagine. It had chicken breasts, chickpeas, carrots, tomatoes, apricots and served over couscous. Both stepkids then watched Thunder game with us. Thunder lost. Pretty sure they're not making it far into the Finals.

I cannot wait for the limbo at DH's work to be over. We will probably know next week. I think I hope they offer him another job (it would be a demotion since he's now manager and they're cutting out layers of management). But that does make for a difficult decision. It would be setting him back to where he was 6 years ago, but that was a great job too. Oh what a chess game this is. If we could only know the future! As someone who loves routine and certainty about the future, this has been a pretty wild month! Trying to trust that no matter the outcome or decision (if he gets the chance to even make a decision!) we will be okay.

Oh, and baby slept over 7 hours last night AGAIN! That's the 3rd time in a week it'**** the 7hr. mark!

David! So nice to see your smiling face starting the thread today - not that I mind seeing Liz's, hers is nice too but change is good! Best of luck getting that kitchen done and love on Adalyn some for me. I would love to have baby snuggles right about now. Thankfully, I get doggie snuggles daily and once in a while a boy snuggle!

Welcome back to home #1 Liz. I bet the 3 of you are getting a bit of a weather shock. I wonder if Justice was always a Floridian?

Diane O - continue to have a great time on vacation. The weather looks gorgeous!

BB - what a blessing to have a chill baby that sleeps 7 hours in a row already. I have 2 co-workers that have babies right around a year old and neither of them are sleeping that long even now! Prayers that DHs work situation turns out for the best!

Thank you all for you thoughts and prayers for me and my family. They really do mean the world to me!

137.8 today. Did get a good walk in at lunch yesterday at work and made it to 11,000 steps by the end of the day.

Today is super busy. Already have taken DS#3 to a dermatology appointment and then need to take DS#1 to a physical for admission to the mental health program and to his psychiatrist. Calls already made for Ben today too. We will meet with Oncology again tomorrow. I have opted out of my scrapbooking weekend. My family needs me and I need them!

Happy Thursday all!

I had an anxiety filled night last night, waking up at 3 and not getting back to sleep until 6:30 for a cat nap. Last night's anxiety was about the logistics of surgery (sorry to keep yapping on about it!). My friend is taking me, but I have to be there by 5am. So that means leaving my house around 3:30. And given that surgery will be about 12 hours, I don't want her having to stay up there that long and then driving home in LA traffic. So I think I'll have her head back after I get settled. But then I'm wondering what happens with the bag of stuff I need to take to the recovery center if I don't have someone there to take it over? And who do I have them call when I'm done as my Dad is in ET and that would be late for them? And speaking of my bag of stuff, what will I need in those 5 days? Argh. I wish I had one of those brains that didn't worry about the minutiae, but I don't. This would be a lot easier with family close by or a husband!

Today I need to take Ferg to the boarder for the weekend, pack for my Cincinnati trip and I have knitting tonight, but won't stay long as my flight boarding time is 6:15. Ugh.

Hope you all have a great day!

I like hearing about your upcoming surgery

Where is the recovery center relative to the surgery center? Will the surgery center be ok with releasing you to Uber (for example)? Is this expected to be a day procedure? There are companies that transport patients even just out of hospital. We have used them for in-laws.

Do you already have a compression garment for after the procedure? (Not all surgeons use them)

The recovery center will have stuff, probably even hospital type gowns, as needed.

I bought a couple of big comfy shirts for post procedure that I wore 24/7. I read somewhere that they should be able to open to the front. It was nice for drain/tube management but it was hard to find that so I only had one like that.

I didn't wear pants those first few days. Easier not to and my big shirts covered my assets. I had a pair of bigger pull on leggings for follow up appts. The loose waist band was handy for drain/tubing management.

People always comment about lip balm. So, yes, lip balm.

I just looked up the distance between the surgery center and the recovery center. It's 7.2 miles and takes 30 minutes (hello, LA traffic!). I do know I'll be transported via ambulance after I wake up from surgery and spend a little time in recovery. Maybe they can just throw my personal belongings/bag in there with me? Good question for when I go for my pre-op appointment next week...

I will be measured for my surgical garments at my appointment next week, so that's one thing I don't have to worry about! (Other than how I get myself in and out of them by myself once I'm home after 5 days with help)

I need to figure out the clothes stuff. I did keep some larger pants and t shirts that I otherwise shrunk out of since I hear swelling is problematic and my current clothes probably won't fit for a while. But I don't have button up shirts. I'll have to see if I can find some! Good tip on not wearing pants. As I understand it, the garment goes to my ankles, but has a split crotch. Best be careful about flashing people...
