Weight 117.8, calories 1013. Weight unchanged (I'd like to see it go down, given that we have a fair amount of going out to dinner coming up...).

It is quite cool this morning (58 and breezy) compared to what it has been for walking in the am. The humidity abated late Tuesday when it rained, but it is supposed to reach 90 tomorrow and the next day. Saturday we have booked a boat cruise from the next town to an island called Cabbage Key. It is supposed to be a good all day trip, with dolphins to be seen and poking around a place similar to Key West (but smaller). We want to get one more beach trip in as well but that may be difficult. We are going out to eat with friends tonight, have a dance tomorrow night and it is supposed to rain Sunday. So that only leaves Monday since we need to pack on Tuesday. Hopefully the weather will work out.

Have a thoughtful Thursday!

139.2, still in the 130's but creeping up a bit. Have not tracked my food for probably close to a week. There couldn't possibly be a correlation to that, do you think?

Got upset last night that Ben doesn't talk/tell me things - not a new development in our marriage but more difficult to deal with now with all that is looming. Lots of tears which have not flowed for a while so that was probably good. Bleeding tumor problems again this morning, finding even more new skin tumors. The start of his decline is here. More fatigue, more pain, less appetite. He is still working but it takes all he has and right now he is extra busy with grading. Retirement date will be June 2nd, it can't come soon enough!

Still trying to get DS#1 in some kind of treatment center. Looks like it might be an intensive day program instead of a residential program. That can't come soon enough either!

We met with palliative care on Tuesday, funeral home meeting got rescheduled for next week since they got extra busy with funerals this week, meet with financial planner today to discuss the hows of getting the life insurance payments. Whew! So much.......too much!

I need to be zapped to NOLA to have some wine and dancing or maybe even fika with Ann, or to Florida to go on a boat cruise and watch dolphins and sit on the beach with Liz, or to Diane O's for some Reiki, or to Diane S or Devon's for some dog lovin', or to Cecily's or Shel's for a good hike or to David's or Bonnie's for some baby cuddling! I might even "borrow" Shel's husbands or Dave's THC!

"So much...too much!" True that!

I'm hoping you are making the time for your counselor? I know that you were hoping for Ben to share, but since that may not be in the cards, please do find someone to at least share your thoughts with. (But, even as I type that, I wonder if Ben could tell you things in a written format. Seems like he was a good student, maybe he could answer questions?)

I'm glad you had a good cry. Cry some more

I wish I could send some peace to you as you navigate these unpredictable days.

Paula-I wish there was more I could offer you than my deepest sympathy and admiration for the grace with which you handle all that life has given you. I know you are a person of faith and I hope you can find some help and comfort in your faith and your church home. You have so much going on, I really hope that you take some time to take care of yourself, emotionally and physically.

Weight: i think it was 164.6. Could've been 165.6. Tired eyes.

Baby is doing pretty well. It's not so bad with the sleeping. Mostly I just cannot get the hang of not having a schedule and knowing when I will have a free moment, etc. I am surprised to find that eating is fairly low on the totem pole. First comes using the loo, then sleep, then showering, and then eating. Unfortunately it's still pretty easy to shovel in the calories when you have girl scout cookies hanging around!

Liz you're right about the changing world. People change jobs and even careers so quickly! Idk which came first the chicken or the egg. Is it a generational thing and so companies know that their employees will hop and therefore aren't maintaining the "veterans?" Or do people job hop because they know their loyalty to the company won't be returned? My granddad was a geologist with a company for 25 years before leaving to partner up in his own. That was the kind of thing that I think you worked for back then. Don't bite the hand that feeds you mentality. But now, at least in my husband's industry, it's pretty rare to stay somewhere over 5 years. But maybe this comfort level has held him back. If he find something right away, we might be better off. And if not...time to spend getting to know Nugget and find something that really fits.

Not sure what to do as far as my weightloss plans. Right now it's hard to plan any kind of menu, much less a light one. So maybe I just focus on not gaining?! I do eventually want to get back into the gym, too. Just a lot going on right now. I will say I bought Special K protein cereal and ate a handful dry each time I got up to feed baby last night. Seemed to work well, and not too bad on calories, and pretty decent macros.

Until you have a solid routine I do think it is hard to concentrate on meal planning (or much of anything). It actually usually comes within the first 2-4 months as long as you promote a routine for eating, playing, etc.

Successfully ensconced in Solana Beach at 6PM yesterday. Unpacked, made a quick run to Whole Food for AM essentials (COFFEE), tried to get phones and computers connected to WIFI, and began reconciling the three hour time difference, which continues today. The weather is heavenly! Will have more tomorrow, but so far, so good !

Weight 165

Had my hair cut/colored today and going out to dinner and a play tonight. Nothing else to report!

Liz, I can't believe your time in FL went so fast! Will your place stay empty in the off-season? People ask if I would ever do Airb&b for my CA house since I am gone for so long. I can't think of anything I'd like less than having strangers in my house!

Paula, I wish there was a way for us to help carry your load. If you need to run away this summer, you can always take The Badger from Manitowoc to Ludington, MI and hang out with me for a while.

BB, I agree with you that times have changed and loyalty is no longer rewarded, it's sometimes questioned why you haven't moved around more. Amazing how fast that turned from 20 years ago when job hopping was considered a black mark against you.

DianeO, welcome to CA! I think we ordered perfect weather for you! I'm not sure if we'll be able to meet up, but this Saturday is my only open day until Friday the 27th! How did I ever manage to work and get everything else done??

Happy Thursday, all!
