Weight 117.8, calories 655. I actually wasn't very hungry yesterday so maybe my body knew it was bloated. Anyway, down 2 pounds and back in range (barely, but I'll take it).

I think Justice knows he is our forever dog now. He took DH for a good walk and was busy spending time in everyone's laps laps last night as we watched the Harry Potter movie (including DD's lap). We are watching the movie to get ready for Universal at the end of this week. I'm also halfway through re-reading book 2 (after finishing book 1). DD is going to Tampa this afternoon and for early tomorrow so we will have relatively quiet days until we go for our 2 day trip to Orlando. DH needs that.

Have a tutorial Tuesday!

The eyes of a dog who knows he is loved and safe ! 10,789 steps yesterday and down a pound. I did not have ham, but did have mashed potatoes, buttered baby carrots and carrot cake in addition to lamb. So, my youngest DD felt it was time for me to create an online avatar. She had me download Bitmoji, and it really was pretty simple. I always wrestle with the complexion because the caucasian options are always too light, and the darker tones are too dark. It's so much simpler when I'm tan, which I will be in a week. You can see the final result on Facebook. Speaking of Facebook, several weeks ago, I posted a picture of the lake in our backyard. It has been raining and thawing and I didn't think much of it... first year in a new house... Well, yesterday, I cleaned up dog poop and picked up debris in the back yard. It was bone dry. Fifteen minutes later Chuck came home and asked how long our yard had been flooded. I looked, and it was worse than before. Upon closer inspection, water was pouring from our neighbor's higher yard, into ours. They had a huge ice rink for their son to play hockey on, and the entire volume is now in our back yard. He was out in his yard, pulling the system down. I called him over and indicated there was a problem. He told me the drain wasn't angling correctly, and it had never happened before. (Except for three weeks ago, we now realize !) He indicated that it was no big deal, that it was jus****er and it would dry. I responded that a muddy yard with two big dogs WAS a big deal. I asked DH to go inside as I felt a not great situation coming on, and he actually did. The guy is a State trooper, so getting a police report for property damage (the currents caused erosion and shifting of our yard) is a lost cause. If he had come over and told us there was a problem, that he was sorry (which he never said) and offered to help make it right... what happened to those kind of people ? But, didn't eat over it and DH actually handled it better than I did. Whew, I feel better now ! Thanks for letting me share !

It sounds like you handled the "flood" situation with much dignity (and perhaps resignation). I would have been pissed and might have made things worse if I let my mouth fly!

Diane, good on you and DH for not losing your s**t about the flooding of your yard. That would've made me nuts. My bad.

When I hear stories like this I'm glad I live in the country -- NOT that I don't have neighbors, but at least they're farther away than the other side of the fence.

Dagnabit! Living in community is a complex dance.

That would have made my head explode!!! I would ask him how he plans to keep it from happening next year...

Peanut butter/chocolate candy good; protein bad. Words I can live by.

I'm not sure who noted it first, but I agree that is a dog confident in himself and his future. Beautiful pic.

No weight today....I weigh when it is convenient in the morning which isn't everyday. My clothes feel loose today, tho, so who the heck cares about anything else.

Cecily, "access" at doctors' office is a science. It doesn't sound like your current primary care office has invested the time/structure/management to make it happen. That is so basic! It makes me what other important things they aren't investing in. I would move to a different office, too. (I am assuming that your PCP hadn't been out for an extended period for something like a medical leave.)

DianeO, good job dealing with a very stressful situation!

My gym is doing a challenge that involves total mileage during April. I was going to sign up for the bottom tier (typically prefer power walking at high incline which is lower miles, I am a slow runner, and will be gone for a week) but my friend said the words "you should challenge yourself" so I signed up for the top tier. Can Not Turn Down A Challenge.

So now I find myself running much faster than I normally would and while not pleasant, it is also not terrible. Perhaps I have been sandbagging in my prior efforts. So, I guess April will be "improve running" month. Or perhaps I will fall of the treadmill. Stay tuned.

Sleep was good last night and I am (sadly) keeping caffeine intake lower.

Find your full today, Shel

139.8, still in the 130's but barely! Funny how the Chicago trip didn't increase my weight but having Mom and Dad here did! Eating will be better today!

Busy day today. DS#1 and I had a call with the residential treatment center - looks like they might recommend a intensive day program (6 hours a day) more locally, he will sleep at home! Hope insurance will agree to pay. Then Ben and I had a phone conversation with the State's benefit provided in Madison to discuss how his retirement benefits will transfer to me and how to use his banked sick time to purchase on-going health insurance. The process doesn't sound too onerous. We then voted in local elections, I was most interested in getting some of the old fuddy duddy's off of the School Board and getting in some new more progressive thinking people on board! I will try to call Ann here is just a bit and then I have a counseling appointment at 2. The snow hasn't started yet but they are promising it will come.

Liz, love the picture of Justice! What a handsome boy you have there. Diane O, I think you handled the neighbor situation well. Shel, good for you for signing up for the challenge. I have tried to like running but it just hasn't worked out for me. Like you, I prefer walking at an elevation. I will put in some jogging intervals with my outside walking if I don't feel I am getting enough of a workout in. That wouldn't happen now as I have been a slug and any exercise would feel challenging enough. Time to ramp up my fitness level again!

Weight 164.4

Two more Reece's peanut butter eggs and down another 0.6 pounds. I think I'm onto something here... (totally kidding. I know they're not a healthy choice!)

Vet visit for the dog today. He's started his Spring itchy cycle and is uncomfortable. But we get to go in the new Fergmobile, so that'll be nice.

I'm missing the morning hike, but may go do a different one this afternoon.

Have a happy Tuesday!

Greetings Tuesday Peeps

146.5. Up a half no doubt due to the two chocolate mints I ate. The grandfather of the bride, a delightful courtly man, sent us a little box of artisan candies since we gave him rides at the wedding. So cute. Fortunately it is a small box. Dinner was more leftover ham.

I was pretty active yesterday going around for blood draw, sending certified letter, picking up good items, doing bank deposits. printing documents and on and on. The papers keep piling up in spite of me tossing bags and bags.

Yep, Justice is indeed the crown prince of the household. What an irresistible guy. I would be calling him by the French pronunciation "zhuuuusteeece".

Ann so glad you have the spa thing. I may look into that myself. Always loved facials.

Well Cecily, the plastics are coming right up. Hope you have someone to help you. Many many years ago I had my thighs sucked out and my best friend and her daughter came and stayed with me. It was a party.

Diane O, I can't believe your neighbor would dump his ice rink in your yard! If its jus****er that will dry out then why doesn't he just leave it in his own yard until it dries? I hope you took some pictures of the waterfall. Hopefully you can work it out where it doesn't happen again. Getting along with neighbors is important. Ours were nice when our old Tiger dog kept digging under the fence and visiting.

Hey Paula, its up and down all the time for all of us. You are doing well. Keep at it.

Shel, peanut butter cups are a food group unto themselves. Now they have all these new kinds - minis - dark etc. My old self would have researched them all.

Today's mission is to get the second dog flu shots. Its a pain because they are unruly and we have to load a crate into the suv and haul them to another nearby town and then wait around for eons. Last time there was a dog there named "Chumlee" (anybody watch Pawn Stars?)

Our colds are into the final cough stage. Wish I had some codeine cough syrup but won't bother the doctor for it.

Well we have two more days of sun before the rains begin. Dogs will get a walk. Diane S

Ugh the cough. A study was done not long ago that said the cough part lasts an average of 18 days no matter what you do. I would bug the doctor for it if you can. 18 days is a long time...

As for recovery, I'm staying at the post-op recovery center for 5 nights. Then I go home. I have friends who can help out at home in a pinch. If it's too much, I think I can call in a home nurse, but my optimism is praying 5 days of 24 hour help is enough to get by.

Chumlee is a great dog name (yes, I shamelessly admit to seeing Pawn Stars). I love good dog names. My favorite was a Bassett Hound at the dog park named Lord Byron.
