Weight 119.8, calories ???? Much good food, ham, rolls, carrot cake, oh my! Clean eating is needed this week. Easter was enjoyable with friends and DD here for a late afternoon dinner. DD arrived a bit early which took some time pressure off.

Justice just had his last medication and he is done with quarantine. Time for this boy to take some long walks (and me too clearly). I'm going to go this morning to do his adoption papers and make it offficial. We took him in the car in his airline bag to pick up DD yesterday and he did great so I think he will be fine flying home in a couple of weeks.

This afternoon we are going to the beach on Boca Grande with DD. She is going to drive to Tampa tomorrow and stay overnight visiting friends and going to a Bruins/Tampa game. Thursday and Friday we go to Universal Studios. So a very busy week is coming up!

Have a mondo Monday!

Quick drive-by this morning -- have a very busy day!

Weighed 133 this morning -- up two pounds from yesterday. Ruh roh! It's got to be due to a lot of salt in yesterday's ham and red eye gravy. Like Liz says, this week will be all about clean eating.

April is going to be busy, busy, busy -- lots of good stuff, but many tasks to finish, including taxes.

Everybody have a great Monday and get a great week going for yourselves.

Good morning,

Count me in the group with weight up by almost 2 lbs. I blame ham. I did make a lemon bundt cake but found a recipe for 2 mini cakes and then made 4. I froze one and 2/3 of them in the freezer to see how they do. The problem (there is always a problem) of mini bundt cakes is there is a fair amount of opportunity for batter tasting as you fill those small molds with small dabs of batter. I am not afraid of raw egg. The lemon was perfect.

I'm happy that Justice survived treatment! He is going to be so happy happy happy to get out and walk!

I'm making April the month of sleep. (Please join me.) When on a normal work schedule, it isn't unusual to run on 5 hours a night. I'm pretty sure that 7 hrs is my minimum needed. Coffee doesn't keep me from falling asleep but I know for sure that it decreases my sleep duration so getting up at 3:45 after 5 hours of sleep isn't a problem.

Pharmacy fun fact: coffee's 1/2 life is about 6 hours. If a pharmacist drinks 6 cups at 6am, there are still 3 cups on board at noon and 1 and 1/2 cups on board at 6pm.

Last night I got 7 hrs 44 min of sleep but feel so freaking tired! Maybe ham tired? It is a rest day in terms of physical activity and I am grateful for that. I would like to go back to bed but instead I am back to work.

Hi-Ho, Hi-Ho,

Shel

Put me in the up group ! I agree, clean eating, hydration and walking today ! My daughter in Brooklyn is getting snow, we just had a dusting and it is supposed to get to 50 today. Airbnb sent me the code to my California condo for next week, so it's getting real !! I really have to get going on digging out options other than long underware, lined leggings and sweaters ! Just got back from our first therapy dog school visit of three this week. Several kids got Frisbees, books and games in their Easter baskets, so there IS hope for this generation !

Greetings Fellow Ham Eaters

Up a half to 146 today. I too ate ham plus chocolate cake and pate. Didn't do too badly. DH stayed home with a bad cold. I had a great time with my friends but was struck by the huge plates of food they all ate. Extra large paper plates were used and everyone at the table except me and one other person was seriously overweight. Makes you think. I really was not envious other than I wished I could eat a Red Lobster biscuit but I got over it. No evening dinner but cheese and almonds.

We watched the Jesus Christ Superstar performance last night (taped). It was good but I couldn't help thinking the orchestra was too loud and much of the singing was drowned out. I am not musical but DH is and he agreed. So I am not losing my hearing (yet).

Me too Ann, lots of business and financial chores today. Gotta get at it. My favorite: standing in line at the post office.

Shel, sorry you are tired. Holidays really suck the energy even if they are fun. You need a tree fix. (RX: one tree every four hours taken with sunshine.)

Yay Justice is off the meds and ready for walks. So glad he is well and you have a great little dog. DH is about to take ours on walks for the first time since the cold onset.

Diane O, glad you are back to the dog therapy visits. Such a worthy thing. My dog Chip would probably make a good therapy dog but he is 11 and probably too old to start this stuff. Tesla is too much of a flake.

Tulips are up at our friends house. She has them in pots all over the deck and its beautiful. A great way to not feed bulbs to the gophers.

Well better do something useful but first, well you know.... Diane S

Count me in the UP category too! I had such a little piece of ham but all the other stuff I am sure didn't help.

It was nice to have a Holiday with family - it had been years since we have spent one with relatives. I think I needed my family even more this year!

Day of work is done - I feel exhausted! Scouts tonight but I don't plan on doing much there.

So happy Justice can now take long walks. He will be so happy!

Weight 165

Hooray, Justice! It had to be the ham, my friends, because I didn't have any and was down a pound. But I did eat two Reeces peanut butter eggs. Moral of the story, peanut butter and chocolate candy good, protein bad?

What a crazy day. I spent all morning on the phone trying to find a doctor willing to do my pre-op clearance. My internist can't see me until May 2 no matter how hard I tried and the surgeon wants the clearance and tests by April 25. The urgent care associated with my internist's group doesn't do them. The urgent care near me has 6 branches and no doctors free until August(!). My bariatric surgeon and endocrinologist are both on two week long vacations. So after much soul searching, I have come to the realization that I need a new doctor who can fit me in when I need them. I really like my doctor, but if I can't get in what's the point? When I had my first kidney stone last March, she couldn't see me either. And I had to make my annual physical appointment 4 months in advance this year.

So after some research today I found a doctor who has sort of a concierge setup (you pay a reasonable monthly fee and can have unlimited visits), fantastic Yelp reviews, and he can see me April 10. I'll really miss my other doctor, but her practice setup/appt scheduling/accessibility is the pits.

I made two dishes for the freezer tonight - little mini meatloaves and a bbq chicken quinoa casserole. I'm not a huge fan of quinoa, but it was pretty good...

My pantry cleaning yielded many items that expired in 2013. Yummy.

Anyway, more of the same tomorrow plus my Tuesday morning hike.

Hope everyone sheds their ham weight quickly!

LOL on peanut butter cups helping with weight loss! It will be interesting to hear how the concierge doctor goes. I assume that procedures are still covered by insurance and the fee is to ensure that they don't have so many patients that they don't have time to see the ones they have?

I read a little more about it last night. It's an idea called Direct Primary Care, similar to concierge medicine, but not quite the same. Their website says, "In general, concierge practices charge an annual retainer along with billing insurance. The typical annual retainers are over $1800 per year. Direct primary care practices generally charge monthly fees which tend to be less than $100 and generally do not also bill insurance for other services." There's a list of included services and a list of services with small fees attached. And you can email, text, call or video chat anytime. For $99 they'll make a house call. Sounds worth a try!
