Weight - 131
Macronutrients - Cals 1,861, Carbs 207, Fats 69, Protein 105, Fiber 38
Sleep (goal 8 hrs.) - almost 8
Vegetables/Fruits (goal 8/day) - 10
Exercise - Aquarobics

Another 10 veggies and fruits yesterday, coming from spring lettuces, avocado, cherry tomatoes, black bean veggie burger, plantains, red and yellow peppers, more avocado, and sooo many blueberries!

Had a good day yesterday -- got some good yard work done. Have more to do today. Also have a lot of paperwork to finish and some additional travel reservations to make. Also got in some good walking yesterday and am heading out very soon to do more.

BTW, flocks of lady turkeys are now promenading in such a stately fashion around the property. Yesterday noonish I saw eleven ladies slowly, gracefully strolling along the back fences and then along the edges of the woods. They were so impressive! Guess I should go to town today and buy some "turkey corn."

Pretty soon the mama deer will start to birth their new fawns! Maybe I'll get lucky and find one or two fawns hiding in tall grasses, where their mothers bed them down for the day and then go out to feed. BTW, wildlife folklore says that humans should never touch deer fawns, which puts human scent on them and causes their mothers to reject them. There's little evidence supporting this advice, but I'm not going to conduct any science on the subject. If you're interested, check out this link: https://www.qdma.com/magic-myths-fawns/

Great theme Ann. Thank you!

Weight 116.2, calories 1278. Today we are going to the beach as it is warm enough again finally. We head out at 10 for Boca Grande, an island about 45 minutes south of of here with beautiful white beaches and not many people. Because there is a $6 fee to cross the bridge and $3 to park, not too many people go there, but it is well worth it (it is where SIL and I went on my birthday last week).

Have a satisfying Sunday!

Liz, isn't that a great theme! I made it up. :) Thang ya verra mudge. ;)

Boca Grande sounds like it's definitely worth the fare. It's funny to me how I used to be willing to spend $25 on a mediocre lunch at a mediocre restaurant, but angst over spending $25 on a non-food experience that offers more pleasure and much nicer memories.

Good morning,

Enough nuts, already! That's all I am going to say about that.

Yesterday did Chinatown, Farmer's Market, Alcatraz and (for the millionth time) Fisherman's Warf.

Food, food, everywhere except for Alcatraz. I see my food tendencies in DD. She is spurred on by the bombardment of food offerings. If she is limiting herself, it is hard to tell. Her friend enjoys treats and then is done with food for hours cuz she is full. Lucky girl.

This, from the NYT about American Adults getting fatter. https://www.nytimes.com/2018/03/23/health/obesity-us-adults. html?hpw&rref=health&action=click&pgtype=Homepage&module=wel l-region®ion=bottom-well&WT.nav=bottom-well

For myself, These days I find it easier to resist the (what I consider) to be the worst of the offerings or have very small portions. Oh, but the nuts....

We are heading North today. Unfortunately, will leave without seeing Devon. He has an incredibly busy weekend with grooming and dog show. I thought about asking exactly where the dog show is but that seemed stalker-ish....plus, the North is calling.

Have a great day! Resist the statistics.

Shel

Shel, home is calling. It's a good signal. No place like it. :)

But the new obesity statistics discussed in that NYTimes article are surprising and sad. I was under the misapprehension that Americans were getting less obese these days. Well, dagnabit!

So I didn't post yesterday, ruminating over whether we failed Devon in some way. His "deactivation post" hit the abandonment button for me. I can have a hard time with finding the best way to support someone who is struggling. When all of you stare your every day truths of finding success and balance in maintenance, it really does help me. Paula, your return to the 130's was incredibly reassuring and motivational. Ann and Liz ... your daily efforts to use the information as objective data and learn/adjust accordingly is the balance I invite. I want it to be more about stamina, strength and flexibility... what new foods I can try and less about the number on the scale. Each of you inspires me in some way.

Looking forward to a long walk in sunny thirty degree weather to find peace with this.

Paula... cant wait to hear about your adventure and how DS #1 made out. Shel, looking forward to more updates and DH finding some peace while you were gone. Diane... looking forward to more wedding stories, Cecily, your weekend with Dad, BB, Becca updates and Dave... our sole male voice for the time, always a much needed perspective. Liz, hopefully Justice will ease the continuing transition for DH. Maybe putting together a "baby book" for Justice to document favorite places, special routines etc. would be something to "anchor" DH ?

Thank you, DianeO. I appreciate everything you said.

I also appreciate those times when we're able to share our truth of the moment. Because sometimes we're doing great, and sometimes we're not. And sometimes we're in the mood to "talk about it" and sometimes we're not, which is, happily, within our power. :)

Devon's decision to deactivate for a while made me remember how responsible I used to feel (and still often feel) about others' feelings, especially their uncomfortable feelings. Of the many things I respect about Devon is his willingness to feel his feelings and then actually own up to how he's feeling. I can learn from his example.

I'm pretty sure we all live in social milieus where we're expected not to upset anyone so we stifle the expression of our feelings. So Midwestern, eh? So Southern, eh? So New England, eh? Not sure about Northwestern. ;) And then we go ahead and stifle not only the expression of our feelings, but our feelings. There are many nuanced differences on that long scale between "good manners" to "self-censorship" to "stuffing our feelings" to "eating our feelings."

And as y'all know, these days I'm more aware of my own feelings and have grappled with how open to be about them in "polite society."

This is a big subject, isn't it?!

Weight ? Still at my Dad's

I had 22500+ steps yesterday with a hike, a long dog walk, and lots of running around cooking. The dinner we made was fabulous. Lobster tails, asparagus with Gremolata, smashed potatoes, and low sugar lemon bars with raspberries which despite being made with Truvia sugar blend were delicious. I have the restriction of a normal person I think rather than other WLS people or previous me. With normal capacity comes great responsibility :-)

Right now I'm still in bed, it being one of those heavenly mornings where the covers have accepted me as one of their own and I could lie here in a perfect temperature marshmallow cloud forever. Pre-WLS my back would start to hurt and I'd be forced to get up. So I'm grateful for being able to do long lie-ins today!

Later we're going to breakfast and then Ferg and I head home I have another hike with a friend later this afternoon to work off some of yesterday's butter.

Hope you all have a great Sunday!

Your dinner last night sounds divine! And I just learned what gremolata is. Had never heard that word before.

Cecily, I can eat a good deal of food, too -- 9-10 ounces within 25-30 minutes. And if I'm eating over a longer period of time (say, two hours!) I can eat considerably more than that.

But thank goodness I don't eat for nearly two hours at a time very often. :)

Gremolata is heavenly on any veggies or meats. Just finely chopped lemon zest, parsley and garlic. Soooo good!

That's comforting to know you can eat a good bit too! I wondered sometimes if he did mine too big because I can't identify with folks who have to stop eating at one scrambled egg...
