I'll get this party rolling again.
Look what I discovered yesterday--when I eat less, I lose weight. Yesterday, thanks to a busy afternoon (physical therapy appointment and visits to the public library and our local art museum), I wound up eating only 1,228 calories. That meant there was no fika and no biscotti. Oddly, eating less in the afternoon made me less hungry last night.
Today's goals--get back to 8 V/Fs, cut back on the biscotti, hydrate extra well, and keep moving.
I had only 6 V/Fs, which were spring lettuces, steamed zucchini, bamboo shoots, carrots, kale/spinach, and a big Bosc pear that I ate with an ounce of blue cheese--wowzah!
My physical therapist says I'll need to do these neck at-home exercises (which take about 15 minutes spread out over the day) for the rest of my life. Apparently, my neck C8 nerve boo boo isn't due only to yoga shoulder stands. The fact that I have parked my behind in a recliner for years and stared for days and nights at a laptop, tablet, cell phone, and books has altered how my neck and upper back are aligned. My posture still looks great (no dowager hump yet), but my big bobble head hangs down off the front of my spine for far too many hours a day, and that's not a good thing. It's just another way I now must to try to repair late in life the consequences of abusing my body over the years. Clearly, this wasn't a lifestyle danger anyone had anticipated back in the dark ages when I took high school and college health classes.
Today will involve aquarobics, more errands, housekeeping, paying bills, balancing the checkbook, and feeding all these birds who no longer qualify as "wild." They are definitely living on the dole now.
Yesterday's theme remains today's, since it rang a bell for so many: I invite restoration and peace for my body and mind.

Weight 117.6, calories 884. I'm planning to continue keeping calories low this week to get back further in my range post-Birthday (and before our 2 day Boston trip next week and DD arriving on Easter).
Ann, I tried to straighten up as I typed on my iPad when I read this. SIL and I had this conversation yesterday about reading books, etc. at eye level rather than hanging our heads down. She has had physical therapy for what sounds like the same problem. She had a couple of cortisone shots, has exercises to do and was told to stop sitting with her head hanging!
Have a warm Wednesday!

N'or easter #4 will just brush us with some flurries. Today, I'll have the opportunity to walk rather than shovel. Have an emergency visit with Orkin scheduled tomorrow. Even though we are on a maintenance plan, some little bugs have arrived, hanging out near kitty litter boxes and floating around in rarely used downstairs toilet. With three cats and two dogs, I'm praying that treatment is quick and simple and does not involve fumigation.
Shel, Liz and Cecily ... I'm enjoying adventure, sun and warmth vicariously through you ! Dave and BB, thanks for providing baby fixes ! Ann, I aspire to be as tuned in to nature and mindful of living in the moment as you are. Diane... your creativity and free spirit inspire me ! Devon, Paula & Joey... you're my resilience touchstones. We are all so strong and talented in our own ways, at our own moments. The challenge is to be willing to reach out and catch a draft off a stronger teammate when the climb seems a bit daunting.
I invite the abundance and opportunities headed my way !

'Morning!
i sit here, pecking away, head bobbing my way to a medical condition. But, now we know so will eventually do something different
Ann, yes we actually lose when we eat less. I am continually amazed that applies to me.
And interesting about no Fika leading to lesser evening appetite. Yesterday I started my day with a lemon-lavender "breakfast" cake. I don't know that I can blame my all day and night dive into nuts and snacks on that. I think there is a lot of body chemistry involved but someone else will need to untangle it.
And let's marvel at the wonders of personalized marketing. This morning I sit surrounded by continental breakfast and it has no appeal to me. I look with some interest but only see stuff I don't want in my body. Even the apples are red delicious.
(Some of you might like red delicious. You probably also prefer Atlantic Salmon. That's ok, I'm progressive and open minded. Bless your heart.)
In contrast, yesterday's cake was produced on site in a cafe that only serves 100% organic meals and their upsell with everything is "would you like a side of micro greens?" I had to smuggle in my individually packaged Truvia because nothing of that ilk was offered.
And, lemon-lavender! Well, under the cir****tances, how could I say no?
By the way, I am no food Puritan. I will grab an apple on the way out. I have some sympathy for being genetically engineered for function, rather than frill.
I miss my parents. There are two couples smiling and chatting at a table nearby that would fit right into my parent's friend set.
I think I will find a quiet place to give my peeps a call while I wait for teenagers.
DianeO, best wishes on storm and bugs. DianeS, still reveling in how special that studio was. You seemed to inhabit every corner of it. What a mind hive. BB, still blown away by that nursery and floored by the car seat's glamour. What good fun! Don't worry about needing formula. Just let that worry go.
Have a great day! I will hug redwood for each of you,
Shel

Love honeycrisp, Jazz, envy, and pink lady.
Our local food coop bought an orchard and they have some fun varieties too. Their descriptions of flavor and texture read like fine wine descriptions.

I eat all those apple varieties, too. Haven't had a Red Delicious on purpose in over a year. And ditto re the fine wine descriptions of all the apple varieties showing up in grocery storeis lately. I'm expecting to see cards in front of each apple bin featuring Robert Parker ratings ("96 - nose of cinnamon, long caramel finish, notes of nutmeg"). Modern life doesn't completely suck, does it?
And in contrast to that, I found out this morning that one of my pool aquamates thinks we're all going to be living in caves in front of campfires soon. Oy, those preppers! How disappointed they'll be if those who don't murder each other for the last can of tuna don't all starve to death because they didn't sock away enough heirloom seeds. Bless their hearts!
