Weight 117.2, calories 1639, of which 3 were chocolate chip cookies.

This is a mixed emotion week. Today is the anniversary of my son's arrival at 4 days old (since he was adopted) and Friday is my birthday. It is also the 13 year anniversary of my daughter's last good week as she had a crisis the morning of my birthday 13 years ago, had to go on morophine and died 6 days later. I kind of relive it every year. I think my emotions about DD were exacerbated a bit when one of our walking friends told us yesterday that her husband has liver cancer. She is usually a super controlled woman, but broke down over the news which took them entirely by surprise.

On a better note, the news of Rebecca Rose's arrival reawakens all the best memories. When people ask about favorite smells, I always say the smell of my children. As I fell in love with each of them (born to me or adopted), part of what bonded us was their smell. Such a marvelous time, BB!

Today we are going to Clearwater to visit friends, stopping for lunch and going to an aquarium on the way. Should be a good day. Hopefully people back at home will start getting power back today. Cape Cod got a lot of very heavy snow so power lines were down everywhere and power was out. My son said that 2 pine trees came down at our house and the generator was running all day. He wanted to know if he needed to fill it. Luckily no, as it is tied into the natural gas line.

Have a wonderous Wednesday!

Liz, what a big week of intersecting anniversaries for you! That would be a lot for me to process in such a short while. I feel for you.

I also feel for your walking friend. Been there, felt that. It's so hard.

Yesterday's 8 V/F servings included some regulars (cherry tomatoes, spring lettuces, raw carrots, blueberries, strawberries, kale/spinach/greens), but also edamame and shiitake mushrooms (dinner was a Healthy Choice Shiitake Chicken Power Bowl, which was excellent).

Not much new happening here - daily exercise, housekeeping, shopping, reading, fika, crosswords. I'm finalizing my spring/summer travel arrangements for the April trip to NOLA, the April/May cruise to Ireland and the July Venice/Croatia/Greece tour. Yeah, it sounds like tough duty. ;) But I know that soon things will start to roll fast, and this morning I'm wishing I could climb back into bed and pull the emotional covers up over me for a while longer.

Today's theme: To everything (turn, turn, turn) there is a season (turn, turn, turn) and a time to every purpose under heaven. http://bit.ly/2FH6dKW

Good morning ! Rebecca Ann's picture with BB simply fills me with joy !! Mutual adoration is such a powerful emotion !! Liz... positive thoughts and energy your way, as you work your way through a week of deep emotions. Ann, thanks for that reminder of the circle of life. Looks like this storm will remain under 6". Hopefully no more power outages/surges to fry equipment. Exactly four weeks from today, I'll be San Diego bound !! Sun and warmth !!

It seems that posting active links and photos are equally challenging for me ! I've posted some interesting links about aura color significance and spirit guides below. This is a "take it for what it is worth to you in the moment" and a "revisit this when you are in a different space" kind of thing. My understanding of spirituality is continually evolving. I firmly believe that I am a small part of a greater whole, and that my potential is limitless if I am open to the lessons/knowledge available to me when I am ready for it.

Also, The traditional purple color meaning is that of spiritual fulfilment. The meaning of purple is also associated with royalty, nobility and power. It is such a deeply comforting, rich and engulfing color. It has the energy, passion and warmth of red plus the coolness, calmness and sophistication of blue. A blue dot often represents available knowledge.

I went to see the Leisure Seeker starring Donald Sutherland and Helen Mirren last night. It was a good movie, but for those in the throws of cancer and dementia with their loved ones, it might be best avoided...

For all my talk of needing to clean out my closet, I hadn't attempted to start until, inspired by all Diane's talk of purging, something snapped in me last night and I started hauling things out. I've made a good dent and totally messed up a guest room with piles in the process. It's going to take a lot more work, but I'm determined to get it clean and then bring in a closet designer to make me something functional that's not the incredible waste of space it is now. I've found a bunch of things I've been looking for for ages and have several boxes already for donation. The dust in there is disgusting. How a tiny closet with a door that stays shut gets so dusty, I don't know. Next up is my dreaded shoe pile...

Today is the plastic surgery appointment! I think I'll just get on the schedule if I can and worry about sharing any of the blood stuff with him later if it comes to pass next week. It may end up being nothing, right? My good friend offered to come with me as a warm body for the carpool lane. Given the anticipated drive time home is 3 hours to go a measly 50 something miles, I'll take it! No wonder I hate going to LA, especially the west side. We might spend some time walking around Santa Monica and/or having dinner to wait for some of the traffic to clear.

My passport had expired and I think I'll be heading to Canada this summer to see my cousin so I got all the passport renewal stuff taken care of yesterday including a new picture. I was very fat in the last one. In this one my neck and collar bones look really tendony/stringy in a not so great way. Never satisfied. But I think I prefer stringy me to bloated me...

Hope your day is filled with goodness!

I just read something interesting and thought I'd share...

Greetings Wednesday Wonderful Ones

145.5 today. Chicken and grilled peppers for dinner last night. Tonight is likely to be a bad eating night because its our quarterly gallery membership meeting which is basically a wine and nibbles party with a sort of meeting thrown in. People always bring good yummies which is my weakness. How come thin people go around eating bread and butter?

Liz, thinking of you in this emotion filled time. Enjoy your birthday even with the conflicting feelings. Sorry your walking friend's husband has liver cancer. I have a friend who was diagnosed 5 or more years ago with that and he has had successful treatment at Mayo's in Minnesota. He is riding his bike through Belize right now. And I saw film on the news on storms in Cape Cod and wondered if your home is ok. Sounds like it is except for a couple of trees.

Interesting stuff Diane O on the meaning of purple. It has become my favorite color replacing pink. Colors really do trigger emotional responses which is why the colors of our surroundings are important. Hope the dog grooming went well. We took ours in for the flu shot yesterday. I was prepared for Tesla to be terrible but they sort of sneaked up behind her and she was good. Chip is always good.

BB I was looking at little Becca's picture again. She so looks like that ultrasound picture you posted! A blessing indeed.

Cecily I hope your appointment goes well. Bringing a warm body for the car pool lane! What a concept. Hope you can work in some fun after the appointment.

As I told Shel, it is predicted to be dry for the couple of days she is in my immediate area. So thats a good thing.

Yep, its amazing how DH has been bitten by the de-clutter bug. I had been after him for years to do this. Today I was awakened by the sound of the paper shredder. Still, a lot has been moved out of the back bedrooms and out into the great room. Now it needs to go out the front door.

Ann I am always amazed by the F and V list. I am going to have to get some power bowls. The upcoming trips you have sound great. Part of the fun is the anticipation.

Well, back to my balance exercises while my coffee pours through the filter. A good thing to do when you have to wait about 1 minute for something. Over and out. Diane S

Diane, those power bowls rock! The Korean and Cuban are still my favorites, but the new Italian Sausage and the Shiitake Chicken bowls are very good, too. As is the Adobo Chicken bowl. Not so crazy about the Chicken Sausage and Barley one, but it's not awful.

And my sleeve must be able to hold more than most VSG patients' sleeves can hold. I really do chow these veggies down. I have a turkey sandwich or a veggie burger most days for lunch -- with melted cheese and sliced cherry tomatoes piled on it -- with a salad bowl just full of organic spring lettuces and radicchio (2 cups). It takes me almost half an hour to eat it all, but it doesn't give me any discomfort at all.

About an hour after dinner I have 1 to 2 cups of berries (blueberries, strawberries or both) with a little vanilla yogurt (about a quarter cup) to sweeten them up. It's a luscious dessert and has so much good fiber.

I've turned into a vegetarian who still eats meat. :)

BTW, I still get in around 100 grams of protein most days. More and more of my protein these days is coming from whole grains like whole wheat bread, red rice, black rice, brown rice, quinoa and some (but not many) seeds and nuts.

Real food is SO DELICIOUS!

Hi all....Keira's pathology came back yesterday. NO CANCER! YIPPEE! The surgery is considered curative.

Report cards go home on Friday. Diane O I'm sure will attest I'm a busy boy with grades, comments, and testing.

Weight, food, WLS.... I've got nothing! (Not really the truth, but I'm choosing to "not go there" here.)

Cheers!
