Weight 117, calories 1784. I feel like I need to de-carb again after eating a lot of stuff I normally don't over the last few days.

It was a rainy day yesterday and may be more of the same today so I don't know what we are going to be doing other than washing clothes.

Justice continues to do well and is happy feeling part of the family. Some other large dog left a pile on our front lawn that I had to pick up which peeved me immensely. This is a gated park with animal ownership policies and I have always picked up after my own dogs. I resent having to deal with an irresponsible owner. I posted this on the neighborhood FB Page:

Happy DST ! For me, it is worth the few more days of darker mornings, to get a later sunset. We are looking at ANOTHER Nor'easter early this week, so Spring is still elusive ! I think all of the snow, dampness, and cloudy skies started to get to me. It is amazing how fast a "glass half full" outlook can shift to "glass half empty" perspective. Before this awareness emerged, I bought a bag of jelly beans, planning on eating the "single serving of nine" in whites, reds and purples. I quickly did that, and threw out the rest of the bag. A half hour later, I ashamedly admit to raiding the intact bag in the garbage once more, this time having the sense to POUR OUT what was left. Didn't make me feel better, but it caused me to take a good look at my behavior and why and direct my thoughts back toward gratitude for everything that IS going well. Thank you for your support and responses to yesterday's post.

I understand about the glass half full turning to the glass half empty. It happens, and sometimes over seemingly insignificant things. I have grown to understand that for me when that happens it is usually a build up of little things and the last little thing weights one side of the fulcrum in the half empty favor.

I'm impressed that you are able to quickly focus on the positives and pull yourself out.

I felt for you when I read your post yesterday. It's a difficult place to be. You will work through/compromise/overlook those differences if you decide it is important to do so. Whenever I am focused on the negatives of my relationship I draw up a plus minus chart (either for real or on paper). Never, ever has the minus side out weighed or out valued the positive side. It's a good strategy to use to put things in perspective - for me anyway.

I just perused some of the discussion that I missed yesterday. Lots of food for thought, but I'm pretty good about putting off thinking about upcoming difficulties until I have to. Eldest DD was like that too. For us it was/is self-preservation. Our support group people keep asking me if I need therapy. Not now, but the time will come I'm sure.

This morning my weight is up a bit. And my calories yesterday were a bit up, too. I stayed up late last nigh****ching TV to get a jump on DST and got a snacking urge -- cheese, Wasa crackers. Wasn't a bad snack. But boy, could I use some bathroom time. I'm going to drink lots of water today.

As a result of TV watching, last night I got only 5.5 hours sleep. But I don't feel bad this morning, thanks probably to that good run of 7-8-9 hours nightly sleep I had last week. Patterns are informative, eh?

Yesterday for lunch I had one of those delicious Morning Star spicy black bean veggie burgers loaded with cherry tomatoes with a big bowl of spring lettuces and raw carrot chips. For dinner I reverted to my trusty Healthy Choice Korean-inspired power bowl and a monstrous, delicious, perfectly ripened mango sliced with a little vanilla yogurt.

I'm heading to town to walk this morning. It's still pretty outside, although it'll be raining soon. I'll spend this afternoon doing some more weekend housecleaning (got a good start on that already), reading this month's book club selection, balancing the check-book, fika and crosswords. A lovely Sunday plan.

Good morning!

Yesterday's MIL at FIL's was sweet. Two of his childhood friends attended, he hadn't seen either for a very long time. Wowza, did they have stories! Truly free-range children who made the most of their freedom.

DianeO, my husband is in full butt-mode since MIL died. His baseline is a bit *****ly and heavily structured. There is his-way and there is the wrong-way. Travel planning and then travel itself can be difficult. He wants every meal down to the last hot dog written out ahead of time. I am organized in travel but extremely flexible in what actually happens.

I refuse to do a hot dog count. I tried once. Then I ate an extra hot dog so the count was off.

I think he really has to work to have empathy for others but (to his credit) he usually does work at that. However, if there is any sort of stress (which might be a missing hot dog) then he might rapidly devolve. I hate that I am on-guard for the rapid devolve. I am happy he didn't have a desire to see the Redwoods.

Back to butt-mode and lets just get out there that I know that "everyone grieves differently." I know he was greatly affected by MIL's passing. Yesterday, he skipped yesterday's service with his dad and he has yet to visit his dad since MIL passed. Last night I said he needs to visit and he asked "why?"

Really good at counting hot dogs. Social ties, not so much.

Whew.

It is sunny today, I'm going to Tiger mtn which is close to the city.

That is so funny. You made me laugh.

Lordy, yes there is a major family story regarding FIL, in particular.

I am feeling more kindly towards DH this evening after a fabulous hike that involved sun. Oh, and paragliders galore. I thought of you :)

Plus, he somehow lost his glasses in the yard as he spread bark which I find highly amusing. I feel like karma bit him in the butt and now everything is even.

And, he grilled hamburgers. I can be bought with hamburgers.

I slept until almost 9! Oops. DST plus a sleep mask is my formula for a late lie-in.

Later today I'm doing a beach walk with a friend. An aside, I'm in my family room with the back door open for the dog and I can smell the citrus blossoms that are about 25 feet from the door. I wish I could share it over internet - smellernet? My favorite scent in the world! Even more than baking cookies. Imagine that.

Not to transition so quickly to a less pleasantly scented subject, but Liz, we have a real dog poop problem in my neighborhood. Drives me nuts. Not only do we have the non-picker uppers, but we have those that pick it up and drop the bag right there! Like the freakin' Poop Fairy is going to magically fly it to a trash can. I would never not pick up after my dog. Some people were raised by wolves.
