I'm exhausted just thinking about all the work it took to clear those 15" of snow! We lucked out - just a smidge of rain and the winds have been wild.

Good morning friends! I fell asleep on the recliner last night, after watching UMaine beat UNH in the first game of their hockey playoffs - go Black Bears!, so never did get to the computer to read and post here. The work problem got resolved yesterday. I came away with a verbal warning and the need to take an on-line HIPPAA refresher. My supervisors were very supportive and said they knew what happened was for the right reasons, and not malicious, as well as me not realizing at first that it was a HIPPAA issue. They also pushed above them to make sure all got resolved yesterday, so I didn't have to go through the weekend worrying. I love my job and the supportive atmosphere! Thanks to all for your support, as well. On a side note, but a good side note - I didn't eat over this!

Not sure what's in store for today. It's supposed to be in the 40's, but still very windy, so outdoors activity is probably not the best idea. I'd love to go snowshoeing on the trails nearby - we haven't been at all this year, but it will have to wait. Of course, there's always lots of housework to do - YUK, as Paula would say.

Devon, loved the pictures you posted!

Ann, enjoy your trip!

Have a wonderful Saturday! Hugs, Mary

Glad the work thing worked out....just as it should in a positive work environment. All of us make mistakes on occasion and HIPAA is tricky.

And good for you for not eating over it. Sometimes I think I look for things to eat over.

Greetings Weekend Revelers

146 today. Dinner last night was leftover chili from DH lunch out. It was really good. It came from a restaurant that is a barbecue place so it was shredded beef; not ground. Note to self: cook a pot roast to use for chili.

Speaking of chili, DianeO I am glad you had yours made before the power went out. Sounds like the perfect thing for 15" snow day. Whew, I don't envy all that shoveling. Years ago in the midwest when I was single I remember spending hours shoveling out my driveway only to have the snow plow come by and fill it with tons of snow. I almost threw my shovel at it. Stay warm (that goes for everyone).

Shel, interesting on the DNA. I have kind of wanted to do that since this hand disease I have is hereditary. And I am wondering if Parkinsens tends to run in families. Interesting that DD is disappointed in not having more exotic lineage. Its nice that kids these days think its cool to have a diverse background - like Momsy said it used to be rather uncool. One thing I love about California is its diversity, having grown up in the white bread belt of America (which is now much more diverse).

BB. where are you and whats going on? (as if we didn't know).

Liz, little Justice probably thinks he is in heaven and he is. What a good little dog. A quiet chihuahua is almost an oxymoron!

Momsy glad the work thing got resolved. Nice to have good people in charge.

Ann have a great trip and be careful. Can't wait to hear about it.

More gallery duty today. I had a lot of it this week plus checks to do and more next week. I hope the rain holds off so we get visitors; thereby inoculating against the fresh fudge sign.

Well we replaced our 8 year old big tv two months ago. The old one had been sitting in the back of the suv all this time waiting to go to E waste. So I suggested that DH drive that car to the city for his lunch yesterday and get it out of the car plus any other e waste. So he came up with boxes and boxes of e waste - old computer towers, a lap top and endless stuff. Who knew?

Well thats about enough of this. More coffee awaits. Diane S

144.2. Calories 932 with C: 119, F: 32 and P: 71. Walk at lunch yesterday and I am still sore from my walk/strength DVD on Thursday - lots and lots of lunges with doing hand held weights for upper body a the same time!

Ben is getting more skin tumors - I fear this is not a very good sign. He still seems optimistic about the immunotherapy, wish I could be as optimistic as he is!

Diane and Shel, have fun snow shoeing - not sure if Diane could even get out of her house without snowshoes on with the amount of snow dumped there! Yuck is right!

Ann, have a fun trip and drive safely! We will miss you if you don't have a chance to check in and/or post but understand if you can't!

Liz, Justice sounds like a wonderful dog. Any chance you might adopt?

Mary, so glad the work ooopps is being worked out and that your supervisors are being supportive and backing you. None of us (hardly) try to do wrong at our jobs!

Diane S - too funny that DH came home with more E waste than he left! I think you have talked about pack rat tendencies before, correct?

David, hope DW heals fast from her surgery. I know you will take excellent care of her!

Devon - the one room school house experience looked like a lot of fun! I was wondering the same as Diane O if the kids costumed themselves or if the place let them borrow the clothes!

Happy Saturday my friends!

The mammogram was uncomfortable as expected, but a bit moreso at first as she kept repositioning/pulling/squashing me over and over. Finally she asked, "have you lost weight?". When I said yes, she said, "Ah, no wonder the computer doesn't recognize your breasts!" The computer is in good company. I don't recognize them either. Who knew...

Today I went recliner shopping for after surgery. I don't like the appearance of recliners at all, but darn it if they aren't incredibly comfortable. I don't want to spend a ton because after all this is done, I think I'll donate it. My friend runs a local breast cancer support charity and they have given recliners to members who can't afford one as it's helpful after surgeries and during chemo. I did end up in a Relax the Back store and they have a few super awesome Zero Gravity recliner chairs, but they were around $3000 . I'm sort of sorry I sat in those, because they make the cheap ones seem junky in comparison!

I rented a fancy electronic recliner from a medical supply place with my LBL ---- did you look into that? It was brand new when it arrived. I think the purchase price was at least 2000.00.

It was absolutely fabulous --- huge assist even standing and then easing back into sitting/lounging. It was also zero gravity (lovely!)

The company delivered and then picked it up when I was done. Easy peasy. Money well spent.

I have been looking at that too, Shel! The thought of a used cloth one was kind of skeeving me out and all the notes of "we sanitize our chairs" frankly just made me think of what was on them pre-sanitization. Maybe if I can find one that had new chairs or pleather ones, that would be okay...

How long did you need yours?

Agree with the "used" issue. If I remember correctly, I had a choice of coverings for the rental and had decided that I could live with the cleaning of a leather one. Then, it turned out to be brand new in original plastic and tags. Some luck at play, there.

I think I had it for 3 weeks but wasn't needing as much that 3rd week tho I did still use it right up to the day they picked it up because it was there in the middle of the family room. Honestly, it was so comfortable to sleep in that I didn't feel the need to test sleeping in bed for quite a while.

There is a fair amount of discomfort in the beginning....nothing terrible but finding some comfort (and better sleep) has huge value.

Snowshoe post!

I rocked the snowshoe today because I had better equipment. Dear Neighbor and her best friend don't suffer from addiction transfer so they don't feel the need to have all-the-things from REI. They save a lot of money buying perfectly good gear elsewhere.

Their snowshoes are from Costco and have served them gloriously for years. However, they stunk in comparison to mine. As my neighbor said "I thought ours were fine, until I saw you on yours. Now I can never be satisfied." She just texted to say that she is already shopping for new ones.

Anyhoo, we went almost 9 miles in total, 1400ft gain. Ozzie the dog was with us today. He is a infectious joy to be around as long as there are no other dogs. We didn't encounter another dog until the last 15 minutes. As soon as we realized there was a dog in the distance, the owner began to leash and I trotted ahead to tell the happy man with happy puppy that Ozzie looks nice but is an azzhole. He picked up the puppy til safely by the snarling ball of fur.

You can see Infectious Joyous Ozzie in the bottom photo. I didn't take a picture of Azzhole Ozzie.
