Thursday, March 1st!

Quick check in. Technically it is not the 1st for me. About 10 minutes more....

CAN NOT BELIEVE IT IS MARCH ALREADY! Time truly does fly faster and faster the older I get. I do not like it.

Haven't read in several days. Wanted to say I am alive, hanging in, but not doing the best I could be. I have reasons...

Among those reasons, was saying goodbye to Bramble today. So sad because she turned a year old on Feb. 20th. last week she was playing in the snow having a blast. Today she could not void her bladder. My heart broke just a little more and I have another little hole in my heart. At least she did not suffer. Bramble's passing was followed later in the day by taking Keira to the vet for her annual physical, a geriatric blood panel, and to have her ears checked, and get the flu vaccine (she's the last one to get vaccinated). Well, turns out Keira's bigger belly was more than just weight gain. After ultra sound and xray, her prognosis is not good. Her spleen is riddled with tumors. None of the options for treatment sound appealing. I have not yet decided what I will do. Getting the blood work back tomorrow will help with the upcoming decisions. I'm glad Keira is oblivious. She's a happy camper.

I do not know what I weigh. Yesterday was fine though.

off to bed to get some much needed rest before going to the One Room School House in Danville, CA tomorrow with my class. You can check it out here: 1 Room Schoolhouse More on the 1 Rm Schoolhouse

Devon, so sorry about Bramble and the news on Kiera. Unexpected events like that involving beloved family members can be devastating. My heart goes out to you. The one room school house looks stately and inviting. Are you going to be on a field trip, or teaching your class from there for the day ?

The weather looks crazy on both coasts. We've had two days of 60 degree weather and there is a winter storm warning for tonight to tomorrow night for 10" of snow. So much for thoughts of gardens !

Storms are a good time to arrive, Nugget !

Looks like Maine, at least in our part of the state, will miss the snow. Rain and wind, with coastal flooding is predicted up here. Hope the storm coming your way, Diane, turns out to be less than they're forecasting.

It's a field trip. Our "teacher" today was an ancient retired teacher from the area. I'm guessing she was mid 80s and retired before I began teaching! LOL! The kids liked her and her husband who was her "assistant". He was much more with it than she!

Devon, I'm so sorry about Bramble and Keira. That must be so tough. Hugs and hugs.

Exercise:

Slept only 6.5 hours last night, since I got home "late" (9:00 pm) from my new book club's first meeting. There are only four of us, and we spent 3.5 hours together, mostly getting to know each other. I think it's going to be a good group. Next month's selection is The Storied Life of A. J. Fikry: A Novel.

Yesterday's food was so bizarre for a variety of reasons that started with a terrible GNC-branded sleep aid I took on Tuesday night, which I will NEVER take again, and that netted me only 3.5 hours sleep Tuesday night. As a result, I logged only 4 V/Fs yesterday and am looking forward to lots more V/Fs today!

Yesterday I didn't go to aquarobics because I was so tired after too little sleep. I observed how hard it was to give myself permission not to exercise when my body was that tired, because at times like that I feel like I'm on a slippery slope, i.e., "If I skip exercise this time, will this be the beginning of the end of my discipline?" Boy, it's hard to learn after a lifetime of always powering through to recognize that all situations that are similar are not identical, nor do they demand of me the exact same responses. Instead, I behaved like Shel did last weekend when she obeyed her instincts out in the snowy wilds and turned around.

Today's theme: Fiber, baby!

Sometimes stopping and resting is taking better care of yourself than pushing too hard. I think of the last line of the Serenity Prayer "and the wisdom to know the difference". Sounds like you had that wisdom Ann.

Weight 115.6, calories 1289. I too like to eat between 5-6, but need a planned snack around 8-8:30 to be safe.

BIL is gone!!! The room he was holed up in has the windows wide open and everything has been washed and is in the dryer this morning. The room was incredibly hot and stuffy from him keeping it closed down and the fan on the ceiling off. I did have a calm talk with him. He didn't say anything but that is probably just as well. I wrote an email to his wife about rentals and just said that it was too bad he didn't want to do much (I knew she was aware of that). She wrote back that she definitely wants to rent in our park if possible next year!

The garage door was fixed yesterday morning by 10. New springs and some other new stuff so it doesn't have to be lubricated (I'd forget even if it did need it). The door works so smoothly and quietly now!

So... The other news is that we are probably going to foster little Justice while he has Heartworm treatment starting tomorrow. He is a 4 year old Chihuahua mix, probably about 8-10 pounds. Very sweet and affectionate, though his time here will be very quiet as he goes through this. He doesn't seem to be physically affected, but tests positive, so hopefully the treatment will work well. Picture below:

Have a thoughtful Thursday!
