Weight 116, calories 1498.

Yesterday was productive in the morning and enjoyable in the afternoon. I got the calls I'd been putting off made (I find that retirement equotes to a certain level of procrastination). I set up Florida car insurance so this morning I can go to the DMV and get the car registered here. It is going to be harder to find the car in parking lots without the Massachusetts plates!

We left mid-afternoon to go to the beach and meet DH and SIL's cousins for beach and dinner. We went to see their new homes afterwards. They are in a huge community north of here with many amenities. Their house are spanking new, but I realized I like the charm and trees better in our smaller community and though I don't have things like new appliances and granite countertops, our older villa is more homey.

BIL didn't come even though the date and place had been chosen to fit his needs in advance of his trip here! He came out once in the morning yesterday and grunted saying that it was a long night. SIL said she heard ice cubes going in a glass a couple of times during the night prior then BIL getting sick in the early morning. We KNEW he was going to back out. I didn't even say hello to him when he came grunting into the kitchen to get a drink when we arrived home at 11 last night. I will be very glad when he leaves tomorrow. I've drafted an email to his wife to let her know the extent of his anti-social drinking while here. Should I send it?

Today I'm going to keep away from BIL as my old feelings from my mothers drinking days have arisen in me and I need to banish them.

Have a thoughtful Tuesday!

Good morning ! Therapy Dogs International has finally (after several years) scheduled a Disaster Stress Relief Dog certification field test in late June in Ohio. These tests are so rare, most teams have to travel to take them. I'm going to get us registered today, as spaces are limited. The first day will be day long testing, and the following day is a massive disaster drill which is mandatory for all newly certified teams and optional for previously certified. We'll be spending the next several months refining some skills in earnest.

Liz... Tough question you asked. I'd think there is no way your SIL is unaware of her husband's serious issues. If she asks, be honest but in my experience, if she is "not ready to know", I'm not sure how much good it would do. Cecily, LOVE your garden ! Here I'm worried about pests... You obviously have some mighty big critters to deflect !

Have a supah day !

Ha! I do. We have huge herds of deer and they are jumpers. I considered an electric fence that would have been cheaper and shorter, but with 3 curious golden retrievers (I have one, my Dad has two), I opted for the tall fence instead...

Diane - what a neat things you are doing for volunteering. I'm sure the school district misses you greatly but the community has gained a gem with all that you are doing! How satisfying!

10 days until due date

I'm suffering along. I really don't think it's the pregnancy. I've had a cold for about 3 weeks now and it seems to have amped back up. Contemplating going back to the Dr. Not much they can do for a cold but maybe it's something else? It honestly has me not looking forward to having the baby because I feel so awful how could I add labor and delivery and sleepless nights to this :( But my sister reminds me moms don't get to be sick. That may be true, but that does nothing to improve this mood I'm in!

There's still a part of me like "no way there's a baby in there."

I had forgotten the "no way there's a baby in there" thoughts! LOL. Freaking amazing, right?

I am sorry that you feel lousy in these remaining days. Is it any consolation that if it wasn't the cold you would be miserable with something else?

No, I didn't think that would be really helpful -- I truly wish I had something more substantial to offer.

It is always ok to give your office a call to check if they would like to see you. These last days are always hard -- few of us are so often pregnant to know what is normal and what is not.

Best wishes that this all becomes wrapped into the gauzy amnesia surrounding delivery. ("delivery" what a weird term for what is about to happen. Like you are a Fed Ex driver)
