Hi Guys,
I didn't log in MFP yesterday but tried to add stuff in at the very end. I just estimated up and I knew it wouldn't be pretty and it was 2100 cals. All "quality" foods, but generally more than I need. I usually don't have overly low days to offset days like that so it always makes me a nervous to see a number that high that even if tho I intellectually know it can easily balance out. I also don't like that it was grazing by myself, rather than social.
Worked out first thing this morning and getting ready to snowshoe. Snoeshow snacks dutifully logged already.
I met DD's friend's mom yesterday to go over NoCA details. The mom is aok with her daughter coming however she said her husband hadn't given permission yet. He just can't imagine what this would be like. That family has never done vacations in general, and what activities they do are never road trips for the sake of a road trip
Also, the concept of taking a friend "for free" on a vacation was a foreign concept to both her and her husband. She thought it would be ok, just needed to know a better idea of how it would flow.
I explained road trips thru parks were The Vacation I grew up (tho we camped, never hotels!). Also, since that I have an only child, bringing a plus-one makes the trip more enjoyable for everyone.
I always find it interesting how different peeps have such different "normals." Even when, from a demographic standpoint, they are so similar
Good sleep info, all around. Garden planning! Let spring begin! Lets all get baby goats, ok? DianeO, you looked great in the facebook pics.
Better get rolling, snowshoes await!
Hug your skinny,
Shel

Always so weird for me to encounter people who can't make sense of anything other than what they've personally experienced.
Do people have no freakin' imagination?

And here's another very interesting (to me) approach to losing weight and weight maintenance employed by "two formerly fat economists" for anyone, whether they've had WLS or not.
http://www.businessinsider.com/how-to-lose-weight-according- to-economists-2018-1
Spoiler: Use meta-rules (guidelines you set in advance that cover all situations). By using meta-rules you're eliminating as much choice (as many decisions) as possible.
The two economists have some other really useful decison-making and behavioral guidance principles that are worth considering, which I realized (while reading this) I already do follow.

Thank you so much for pointing this article out, loved it! Those peeps could easily fit in here.
I really like it when people publish things that I agree mostly already do or agree with :). In contrast, there is an article currently in the NYT's that talks about how eating fast is linked with obesity. Well, I don't want to hear THAT! (Self defeating, I know!)
I loved the term meta-rules and how they apply them most of the time but celebrate when they make an exception.
Also loved the quote that supports daily weighing: "Your obesity -- or lack thereof -- it's not a secret to anyone," he said. "You should get acquainted with that number." This is So Very True.

Greetings Sunday Sojourners
145 today so at least I am not up. I seem to be maintaining at this level but wi**** were 10 pounds lower. No sense whining - I know what to do. JFDI.
We actually had some real bacon last night. I cooked it burnt to a crisp and we had cherry tomatoes with it. No bread or anything. Its a good taste. DH is going to Costco which means shrimp tonight.
Interesting on the sleep stuff Ann. I remember years ago in a huge business closing that took several days. We represented the seller. The buyer's counsel came in from out of town and were staying in hotels and getting almost no sleep. they became sort of zombie like in their focus on details. They almost made a huge mistake in the closing. We gently pointed it out without embarrassing them (yes there is honor among lawyers) as it was part of the agreed deal, but it really made an impression. As lawyers we were expected to tough it out and go without sleep if thats what it took. I remember flying to Chicago on little notice and being in the same position. Its tough. Thats why I really enjoy not having to get up at any particular hour and if I want to sleep in, I do.
Liz, sorry about the BIL drama. Will he be there a lot longer? Is there any way to limit booze access? Good on SIL on engaging DH in conversation.
Diane O, I will go look at farm pictures. Sounds like fun. And enjoy the garden thing. I have seen raised beds that are actually about 2 feet tall and have a board all the way around to sit on. Makes it easy to garden in old age. Not that you need that but its something I would like eventually. And get "sun gold" cherry tomatoes. Sweet as candy. Its too chilly here to grow tomatoes without a greenhouse but some years our deck gets warm enough for a few. I used to keep a container herb garden on the deck. Maybe I will do that again this year if I can get DH to help.
Yeah Shel, funny about the trip thing. I had a friend who never ate in a restaurant until she was 20. I had another friend who never went out of the state and even then only 100 miles to a dog show with other people. She had no curiosity about other places. She had a 17 year old son who had no interest in learning how to drive. I am lucky to have grown up with the family road trips and a dad who traveled internationally all the time. No moss on me.
Well enough of this. Have a great Sunday all. Diane S
