VSG Maintenance Group

I'm glad you have the Chicago trip booked. It sounds like a manageable and enjoyable trip for your family.
There will be another dog and I really need to have decided whether we want to get one here or wait until we get home so we can decide quickly when we meet the right doggie. The sweet, small ones go quickly (which is a good thing)!

Wanted to make another comment NYT article about recent JAMA study.
The reason for the study was to have the participants split into two groups, both eating "clean" (my word) but one was healthy low fat and the other healthy low carb.
Then, at the end of the study, they checked genotypes to see if patients with certain DNA did better on one diet or the other. They were testing to see if DNA testing (which had something to do with insulin response) could help personalize dietary patterns for particular patients.
As it turned out, genotyping predicted nothing. So, a negative finding which is the real take home message of the study.
Pretty interesting for me, as someone that was just shy of diabetes before VSG. Doesn't change what I am doing now, but challenges a fundamental belief I had about me and healthy carbs including grains/starchy carbs.

I am curious what your fundamental belief was about healthy carbs and you. Do you mind explaining in more detail?

Weight 163.8
Today is my one year surgiversary! It really has flown by. Officially today I'm 119 pounds from when I started the process, 102 pounds from what I weighed on surgery day, 174.6 down from my highest weight ever, in maintenance for 104 days, and thinking about plastic surgery. Life is good.
Pilates was great yesterday. I'm sore, but I feel like I'm getting better at it. I've been thinking about doing some more weight bearing exercise. To that end, there is a small gym that has opened near my house that just does HIIT circuit classes. Every class is 45 minutes and you work around a circuit with stuff like TRX straps, planks, kettlebells, rowing machine, etc. You do each thing for 45 seconds, then rest for 15 seconds. I can't believe I'm considering it because I've never been to a gym, but I am. Maybe by putting it out here, it'll spur me to follow through.
Must go tidy. The cleaning people are coming....
You are going to be in fantastic shape after all the exercising! I'm just happy that I'm walking 1-2 hours a day.

Happy surgiversary! It really is a landmark day in your post VSG life. Congratulations on all you have been able to accomplish during this year! I hope you recognize the work, effort, love and determination you have put into your post VSG journey. What you have accomplished, really is no small feat! YAY YOU!!!!!
Oh, Cecily! First surgiversary really is a big deal. Congratulations. Your accomplishments are truly remarkable.
I've had three surgiversaries now -- nothing like the number of ones some of you all have had thus far. But each one has been a big deal to me. I feel like (I imagine) people in AA feel when they get their one-year, two-year, three-year, four-year, etc. pins or tokens or Gucci purses or whatever they get. It feels like I've been sober for one more year.
