Weight 116.4, calories 1125.

BIL is here (arrived last night). I guess he is going to join his sister on their alcoholic indulgences. He had 2 glasses of wine, a margarita and a grand marnier while I was up, but he and SIL stayed up later and were starting more ****tails at that point. One of the OH articles said that some people who overindulged in the empty calories of alcohol still didn't gain weight because they cut back on nutritious calories. This sets them up for malnutrition. I think SIL could be in that category. Good thing she takes vitamins, but the protein she consumes is pretty low. I guess I should MYOB, but it is an eye opener and has made me more aware of alcohol (and I have consumed less of it over the last couple of weeks). Maybe I'm more sensitive as the adult child of an alcoholic?

Activities today are undetermined other than a trip to the food store. Tonight we have a show at our lodge (aka clubhouse).

OH, and Queenie who DH loved was adopted! I guess if we make a decision to adopt down here rather than at home that we will have to move quickly.

Have a thoroughly good Thursday!

Good morning!

Liz, I would guess that being an adult child of an alcoholic heightens your alcoholic spidey sense. Lets add on to their problems: did you know that more than one alcoholic drink in women per day and more than 2 daily in men raises blood pressure, sometimes by whopping amounts?

Redwood trip: Now that Buster can't go due to silly Redwood trail restrictions, DD has invited a friend. I'll meet friend's mom this weekend over coffee so they can better consider the offer. We frequently bring a friend for DD on trips but never this particular friend and I don't know her mom well at all.

Gotta run, have fun today

Shel

Great parenting ! Those extra steps are critical! My girls used to be "so embarrassed" by my vetting but at 31 and 29, they now see it as love.

Yes! Important steps to take. DS#3 has a formal dance this weekend. Told me he was sleeping over at friend's - I know the family well, they lived a few houses down from us in our old neighborhood, kids have been friends forever and I do bible studies with the Mom. Something told me to check on it, so I FB messaged her and asked if her son was hosting a post dance sleepover - he isn't. He had plans to stay over at someone else's house. Now she is checking to see if he is actually invited to stay at that friend's house. Not sure what the real plans were going to be, but I'm picking up my son from the dance and he is staying at home that night! Kids!

Good morning ! Snow storm #$@!& beginning in full force. Yesterday morning, I walked in 70 degree weather, feeling a bit sticky toward the end. By 2 PM, it was 33 degrees and windy. I hope to do some snow shoeing later.

Yesterday's trip to the maple farm made me glad I'd had a plan ! I was tempted to skip the eggs to have "more room" for pancakes..old thinking. It has been a while since I've had pure maple syrup and it won't be happening again any time soon! That sugar hit me like a ton of bricks and I initially actually felt high... until I felt so miserably sick. I had two tablespoons at the most, and spent the rest of the day recovering. All I could manage for dinner was cottage cheese with some left over roasted brussel sprouts. Live and learn !

I like pancakes and will have them very occasionally but have found that my sleeve (thankfully) will only allow me one small one. They are sooooooooo filling!

Oh, DianeO ... I can really feel your pain. That's how the 750? calorie piece of carrot cake hit me about a month ago. And that's how I felt by Monday morning after a weekend of sugar and salt. It felt like an altered state. I really don't recall feeling that sh***y years ago when I ODed on sweets.

145.6 today. Calories were roughly 1170 with 108 C, 54 F and 95 P. There was some guesstimation in there on amounts - didn't measure a few things but I'm pretty good at eyeballing these days!

I'm having a little bit of the "poor me's" as of late. I'm feeling very stir crazy from the winter and want to get out and DO something, preferably in warm weather! All Ben and I do is sit on the couch and watch stupid TV. I'm a very social person and this being holed in the house is getting to me. I feel like our lives have been "on hold" for over a year - unable to do much or plan much because of all of the unknowns and him not feeling up to par. And the "on holdness" of our lives is going to continue for a while. Then I feel guilty for feeling this way and complaining about it - I should just be grateful that I still have him to sit on the couch with.

Massage scheduled for 1:00 today. Perhaps that will help lift my spirits a bit. Ben did suggest a movie this weekend. That is at least something!

I did book at few days at a hotel in Chicago over Spring Break. The 2 younger boys and Ben and I will go. Maybe take in the art museum, get some Chicago style pizza and do some shopping (though I refuse to buy clothes at this higher weight! - my 0-2 size has turned into a 4-6!). Too bad I'm not at goal weight - if I were I would do the Dexa scan that I wanted to do while in Chicago!

Liz, sorry that the puppy that Paul fell in love with was already adopted. Another one will surely come along though!
