And furthermore Shel

Regarding the Lost Coast, its a cool place with black sand beach. There are cliffs to the beaches and you have to be careful hiking there because the tide can come in and then you get stranded on cliffs and the coast guard has to come. Getting to the lost coast (Shelter Cove) is a winding road which takes two or three hours (car sick for me). There is a super scenic way to go which I have not done but I think the road is somewhat treacherous. There are fabulous beach hikes right around here so no need to spend hours driving. I live 1.5 miles from the Hammond trail which goes up and down the ocean - I think all the way to Trinidad which is 7 miles or so and south to Arcata over an old railroad bridge over the Mad River. There is a newly opened trail from the Arcata Marsh down the bay but does not yet connect to Eureka. But its a great view. Also the Samoa peninsula which has many beaches, few people - ocean on one side and bay on the other.

Uh oh, rain has started and DH is out walking the dogs. Cranky alert.

This is all such good information. I need to spread a paper map out and put sticky notes on it so I can gather my thoughts. Thanks so much. I did see a road that was marked as scenic on the way to the lost coast but they don't have any markings that indicate carsick-inducing so one wouldn't know.

You are soooooo adventurous Shel. I don't think I would ever plan a solo vacation/distant outing! Good for you! I guess I'm just not very independent. Might be a skill I could use in the not too distant future!

Well, there is choosing to be independent and there is what is happening to you. Two very different things, my friend.

But, now I am curious, when did you and DH meet? Or maybe my real question is, did you ever just live by yourself or move to a place where you didn't know anyone?

I actually was "independent" for a long time. I didn't get married until I was almost 32 and Ben was almost 35. Lived 2 different places away from "home". I did vacations with friends etc. and travelled alone to see people - I guess I have just been with someone for so long now that it would seem odd to venture out solo! I guess I've become dependent rather than never being independent!

Yes, you definitely were independent :)

I wouldn't call you dependent, now, tho. You are part of a happy partnership in a surreal position of looking at involuntary independence. Very different than driving 8 hours down the coast to walk in Redwoods and then driving back.

Hugs, Hugs for everyone. Maybe wine, too.

145.6. Calories at 1,369 with 131 C, 65 F and 86 P. The anorexic effects of the Cymbalta are clearly gone! Booooooooo!

Church today and I will soon clean the bathroom - oh joy! Worked more on scrapbooking yesterday and today. May still do a little more today. I'm almost caught up with my journaling and titles which I do after I put the basic pages together at my 2 scrapbooking retreats a year.

We are supposed to get a nasty ice storm tomorrow going into Thursday. Yuck! Hope my travel to and from work tomorrow goes okay.

Weight 165

The dog got up to throw up at 4:30am and was kind enough to do it on the tile, so at least I didn't have to add carpet cleaning to my middle of the night activities. When I finally got back to sleep I was in no hurry to get out again and managed to stay in bed until 9:30. Heaven! But it sure throws off the rest of the day. Like I'm not sure how it's already after 2...

I've gone down the wormhole of online plastic surgery pictures and surgeon reviews today. What a huge time suck. At least it's helping me clarify things that would be concerning if mine ended up that way.

Now I'm going to go clean out my sock/underwear drawer. I wear so little of what's in there that digging for what I need is nearly impossible!
