Got almost 8 hours of sleep last night! I had to force myself to stay in bed and doze early this morning, but that was easier to do than it's been of late.
Yesterday's 9 servings of V/Fs came from carrots, spring lettuces, black beans, cherry tomatoes, yellow onions (caramelized -- yum!), plantains, kale (I baked "kale chips"), and another wonderful whole avocado.
Yesterday turned out to be very lazy. I did nothing I didn't want to do and refused to feel (very) guilty about it. I had a long, delicious phone call with my stepdaughter, wrote in my journal, decided that this month's book club selection is pitiful and that I won't fini**** (this decision reflects significant personal growth on my part), read haiku, tried on some "skinny clothes," ate very well, and visited with the deer at sunset. Sadly, the sunset was hidden behind thick clouds. Today's weather will be much nicer.
Today's plan is to do all of yesterday's and today's to-dos.
Today's theme: Sunshine and good sleep make everything better.

Work today and then counseling appt. afterwards.
Gotta run, 6:30 start time for me today!
Paula, that's an amazing fiber number. Exercise looks great, too!

Weight 118.2 (still), calories 963. I need to buckle down to get back to the middle of my range. It scares me to be above range several days in a row.
Ann, I'm glad you had a good day, good sleep and many vegetables!
Today is more animal shelter training. We will start the 5 hours of shadowing. Basically you start by watching someone and by the end you are doing the walking. It is primarily a safety thing. To make sure you know how to get in the dogs crate and get him leashed without him escaping or scraping yourself on the crate; making sure you can control the dog when walking (he won't fly off wherever he wants to go); making sure you understand the importance of a 10 foot buffer between dogs to make sure fights don't ensue; to make sure you know when to back off and get help and not intercede (dogs running around, fighting dogs, etc.). One example of where my instinct would be wrong would be to protect the dog I'm walking if another ran over and started a fight. They absolutely don't want that because a dog bite is a serious business in many ways (including legally). They said they can deal with dogs biting one another much easier than a dog biting a human.
DH is entering the not remembering and not believing that he forgot stage. He accused his sister of "stealing" his fudge. When I tried to reason with him he got angry and yelled like a kid. He gobbled the remains of the fudge and smeared it everywhere while we were at the pool to make sure his sister didn't get it. Sigh...
Have a marvelous Monday!

Is it already Monday?
Yesterday's snowshoe was fabulous. There is plenty of snow left for that tho it wouldn't have been good snow for skiing. There was intermittent sun! I had signed up for an all-women's REI class, mostly because I liked the date/time rather than the gender. There was some talk in the group about how most (including the instructors) really preferred all women classes because the group dynamic is so much more positive. I think I might be able to see that, now.
Liz, your weight will come down with your usual excellent fundamentals in place. No worries. Ann, thrilled to see sleep, avocado and sun. Paula! Look at you all self activated!!!!! David: Loved seeing that baby holding onto your shirt. So, so sweet.
Shoeshow pics below. It was about 6.5 miles, mostly on flat. There were beautiful little privately owned cabins sprinkled in the woods, accessible only by foot. I want one.
Best conversation of the day was with a few boys in a boy scout troop that had broken camp and was hauling gear out on sleds. The were full of self incrimination that they failed at making igloos and had to camp in tents like normal people.
We later came across 6 failed igloos. My REI leader knows how to build igloos and pointed out where they had gone wrong. (You need to dig DOWN to make your blocks. More than a 1/2 of an igloos is below ground. Also, would have been easier with small igloos) Now I want to take an igloo/snow cave building class.
Peace and hope,
Shel
