Weight 118.2, calories 1475. Back up a bit over goal again. Arghhh....

DH and I had our dog walking class yesterday, next step is shadowing with experienced walkers for 5 hours before we go solo. I visited with the doggies while DH did the orientation I had done previously. Those sweet faces beseeched me to take them out (which of course I couldn't). There is a 9 year old Maltese smaller than my 7 pound Chiquita who kept wagging her tail at me with interest. Maybe I can walk her next time.

Today is laundry, putting pictures on the wall (we purchased/framed a few this week), and making crab cakes. Maybe some pool thrown in.

Have a surreal Sunday!

Supah Sunday to all!

Well, supposedly today is finally my Snowshoe with REI. We will see if it really happens.

Yesterday my hike was just shy of 8 miles and about 2000 ft gain. There were paragliders taking off from the top. Those people hiked in from the other direction so about 4 miles and about 1500 ft. Of course their trip down is much more spectacular. They all seemed to be hustling so they could repeat the trip back up for as many flights as possible.

A series of pics are below. That sort of thing has no appeal to me. First of all....death. Also, if not death, then extreme cold. By the way, that is artificial turf at the top of the mountain! Also, there were pretty decent toilets up there, including one built for wheelchairs.

Peace and Hope,

Shel

Oh. Mah. Gawd!

I might, maybe, possibly, could ... go for that!

Yes, there's the possibility of death. But there's also, instead, the probability of a indescribably glorious, joyous memory!

I think it's time for me to make a new bucket list. :)

I think I would like to try that. For some reason it does not seem terribly frightening. However, I would want to have lessons first.

I look at your pictures lately and some remind me of my childhood trips into our local redwood forests. The pictures today made me think how beautiful it is in the PNW. I could live there except for my intense dislike of rain, rain, and more rain. I could handle Portland because it at least gets hot inland in the summer.

Devon, Liz, Ann, Diane S., Paula, Shel-I am very touched by the gifts you sent! We received them yesterday just as we arrived home from the baby shower. It could not have been more perfect. My husband couldn't believe it!! Please message me your addresses so I can send you proper thanks.

I feel so thankful for this online community. I think the anonymity allows us to be more ourselves. I know I've had my fair share of ups and downs and I'm confident there will be more. I know it's been a rough year for many of you and I hurt for you. This has become about so much more than just weight. It's really all about life. This is a big turning point in my life and I'm glad to have been able to share it with all of you.

It was frigidly cold yesterday and, once again, I did not dress weather-appropriate! But I did get to wear my pink dress, so there's that! I am having two showers--one more of a my age friends shower, and then next week will be more of a family/my mom's friends shower. I tried to allow myself to be surprised and not controlling and guess what? It all exceeded my expectations!! I was definitely overwhelmed by the love I felt. These girls decorated everything in blush and gold. There was cake and punch and oreo bonbons and chocolate covered strawberries, along with cheese and crackers, fruit and dip, veggies and dip, taco pinwheels, and ham and cheese sliders. I had a diaper cake and they had barefoot wine favors.

We received so many wonderful gifts. One that really sticks out in my mind is my stepdaughter bought Nugget a shirt that says "little sister." My sister bought Nugget a Harry Potter "snuggle the muggle" sleep set. I'll include a few pictures so that we can have that little virtual shower. And you won't even have to pass up the oreo bon bons :)

So love hearing this! New life is a joy for all of us and is the balance in life stories that we need. It just makes me so happy to hear all your news!

BB, your happy post and those pictures of your first shower make me so happy. Like Liz said, beginnings and endings are both part of life. And the middle parts, too.

So happy for you.

Yay! So glad you were surprised! I got a message that the final package arrived today, so I hope you now have found that one, too!

What a pretty shower you had. The food looked great - especially the sliders! Were they grilled? They looked far better than your average ham and cheese on slider rolls.

You may love your pink dress, but my eye went straight to your most festive shoes to go with the pink dress! Two things: 1) Those pumps are fantastic! 2) The fact that you are wearing them with about 4 weeks left before Nugget comes is amazing! Wouldn't worry a bit about your weight gain. You look great and your ankles and feet are still elegant. No preggo cankles for you!

Thanks! My husband insisted I buy them and I'm glad he did. The black shoes with pink floral surprisingly goes with a lot.

I did not feel elegant by the end of yesterday lol

The sliders are the Hawaiian roll sliders. They have ham and cheese and Hawaiian rolls, topped/drenched in melted butter, Worcestershire sauce, dried onion flakes, and poppy seeds and baked. I think they are to-die for, but I think anything with that much butter can't be bad.

Wow, who would think that you need to take a class and have 5 hours of on the job training to be able to walk a rescue dog! The Maltese sounds sweet!

146.8 today. Calories were 773 with 104 C, 22 F and 63 P. I also did a 45 minute step aerobics workout - my favorite Jane Fonda one from the early 90's, lol! Yay me!

We are getting another fresh cover of snow, not sure of the temp. Church today and I think I will try and get on the treadmill and/or do a little yoga.

My woman's bible study group is going to start to bring us some meals....so sweet!

Counseling appointment again tomorrow after work. I'm already feeling less anxious. I think the Cymbalta is working and I have not had too many undesirable side effects.

Love to all of you hiking, yogaing, cross country skiing, snow shoeing, baby rocking, tinkering, baby making, house decorating, dancing, volunteering, dog loving, coffee drinking lovelies!
