Another 6.5 hours of sleep. I stayed up until 9pm, seduced by Olympi**** skating, which wasn't nearly worth it.

Yesterday's V/Fs included a Gala apple, spring greens, grilled sweet peppers, cherry tomatoes, bamboo shoots, mushrooms, beans, and that fabulous, huge Bosc pear, which was indeed scrumptious with blue cheese.

Yesterday I got three more memorial service to-dos done and had a nice visit with a friend in town at her lovely clothing store. Then I came home at sunset to sit on the porch with my glass of wine while the deer came out of the woods for supper.

Tomorrow (Saturday) I'll get all dressed up for a charity luncheon that benefits our local hospital. Last year I was the speaker; this year I get to be quiet.

Today's theme: T.G.I.F.

LOL, having some special issues this morning....

Good morning You Slumberers!

I don't know why I am up this early when I don't have a 5am gym class. The only good thing about this is that I am not yet eating. That starts at 5am (57 minutes to go.)

Worked out yesterday and dutifully logged my foods. (I know, I know....for some of you that is such a given!) Paula, can't believe those low days you are having. Enjoy your lunch with DH (or maybe that was yesterday?)

DianeS, I am thoroughly enjoying the Lonely Planet info. There is a lot of information available on line but LP puts it together better than most. Humboldt county really sounds terrific. Cell data doesn't look good but that is why God gave us Garmin.

Find some space for peace and tranquility (maybe that is why I am up early.)

Shel

Weight 117.8, calories 1895. Though still in my weight range, I keep hovering near the top. I looked at the weight graph on MFP, and it is clear that the during last 3 months (post-retirement) I have hovered in the higher part where previously it was in the lower end. And the high spikes are more frequent than the low spikes were a couple of months ago. I'm not ready to accept a higher range yet because I know that stuff that I shouldn't have much of like wine and almonds are the culprits.

I think I mentioned that SIL has several vodka and tonics each night (3-4 minimum). I knew she did that on weekends but not every day. At approximately 200 calories per drink (they are tall glasses, regular tonic), she is taking in 600-800 empty calories a day. No wonder she eats so little to stay thin! She only weighs about 130, doesn't have much muscle, and doesn't exercise other than walking so her caloric needs might be around the same as mine (1350 or so). So to stay at her usual weight, she can only eat about 700-800 food calories. I had realized quite a while ago that she ate about the same number of calories at dinner, but she frequently skips breakfast or lunch and rarely snacks. I couldn't fathom how she could eat so little but now I have figured it out.
Anyway, it is a little disturbing and makes me think more than twice about having wine too often. I used to have 1-2 glasses 1-2 nights a week. Now it is 1-3 glasses 3-4 nights a week. I need to go back to where I was. I'm a little concerned as I think technically she may be an alcoholic. Regardless if she ever got very sick she wouldn't have a lot of reserve. My mother was an alcoholic but more of the out of control kind, but SIL has 2 brothers who have similar alcohol issues (function but regularly have alcohol on-board).

Those are my Friday musings... Bonnie one more month???? Have a fantastic Friday (if you can)!

It is surprising the things we learn about family members. A big issue, hidden in plain sight. (In contrast, my SMO used to be right out there for everyone to see. Now it is cloaked.) Too much alcohol over a long period of time has a way of exacting a price, eventually. I wish your SIL well.

Looks like Ann, Shel and I were all posting at the same time (Ann won by a Hair). For a few seconds there were 3 February 9 posts.

Ann, Shel, and Liz... My head was initially spinning with all of the "simultaneous original posts". I poured another cup of coffee, came back, and it was all sorted out ! The power of coffee ! Liz, you got me thinking...I have 1-3 glasses of wine 4-5 nights of the week. To this point, it hasn't impacted my eating, but the volume of wine is creeping up. I have to look at that. I'm also seeing a need to check my "to do list" and address issues/items right then and there rather than drawing on some patience and investigating an even better outcome. Contrary to that, my list has included taking a draw from my 403b "while the market is so favorable". Ugh...I didn't do that, trying to wait out tomorrow's income tax challenge... determining the actual $$ I anticipate I owe.

I had an awesome cross country skiing adventure yesterday... pictures on Facebook. It was 14 degrees, with a wind chill close to zero. If I could have headed into the sun (out of the wind) the entire time, I could have gone twice as long. Cecily.. your hike on the other end of the extreme was inspirational ! Ann... Your blue cheese has me thinking...I need to increase my veggie count... Heading to kitchen to chop some fresh basil to mix with blue cheese tomatoes, onions, and some balsamic vinegar and oil!
