I was totally too busy bellowing my lungs and trying not to fall to take pictures! This one started at 8:30, which was too late I think for this strenuous a hike in the hot, cloudless weather.
I like my Keen Voyageurs for hiking. The roomy toe box works for me. But attractive they are not on my big feet! I also have my own inserts in them. A coupon makes buying new hikers very okay!
I have a confession... I have a severe clutter problem in my closet. I've been trying to clean it out so I can bring in a professional closet builder without embarrassment to reconfigure it. So I'm hauling things out and find a huge box from Zappos. What do I find in there, but THREE pairs of hiking boots I never tried on. Eek! I'm certain I bought three to find one I liked expecting to send the others back, but I must have shoved them in the closet to "clean" my house for people coming over and they haven't seen the light of day since. 4.5 YEARS to be exact.
Well it was tough, it is over, and you will use it as a marker when you are considering other hikes. Now that you made it thru this hike, you can more confidently approach others. But, no need to do them right away. Rest, recover! Treat those blistered toes well!
I saw positive reviews about those Keen Voyageurs. I am sure they are all good, even the ones in your closet :) Just imagine how many miles you would need to hike to wear thru all of those.
Also, best wishes for your dad! Can't forget about dad.

Good morning, everybody!
My sleep last night lasted almost 6.5 hours. Not great, but better, so I'll take it. What helped was getting to bed by 7:00 pm. Apparently, my husband wasn't the only person here who likes going to bed early.
Yesterday's V/Fs included caramelized onions, black beans, cherry tomatoes, carrots, spring lettuces, plantains, more carrots, red beans, kale, and another luscious avocado.
I swear, these days I'd rather eat an avocado than a piece of carrot cake. I'm already looking forward to a beautiful Bosc pear and some blue cheese for dessert tonight. My interest in food is coming back.
I got some more big to-dos checked off yesterday, including arranging for police security at my husband's memorial service. On the flip side, my car battery died on me while I was running around town from one appointment to another. But in that wonderful small-town way, I called the local Toyota dealership's service department, which sent a nice guy to where I was stranded who charged my battery so I could limp to the dealership and get a new battery installed. I was in and out 15 minutes. While all this was happening, I was calculating how many more hours that would have taken and how many more vendors I'd have had to contact, employ and pay to get back on the road if I still lived in Los Angeles.
And in other news, the corn I've spread is attracting lots of hungry deer to the woodland edges and the fields. During the sunset hour the deer put on quite a show. This summer, I'll convert a clearing in the woods to a "deer food plot" to support the deer through most of next winter. I hope the drought breaks this spring so they'll have lots of acorns to eat next fall.
Today's theme: We all get by with a little help from our friends.

Picturing you in a Cinderella dress with bluebirds dancing around you as you spread goodies to the woodland creatures.
But, the Cinderella I saw in the movies didn't have quite the same (ahem) speaking style that you do.

DH is going to take me to the doctor today. Still feeling under the weather. I don't think it's flu but I want to make for darn sure. DSS tested positive for strep yesterday.
Ann and Cecily-I too have a large ribcage!! Inherited it from my dad. Actually, I have pectus carinatum (pigeon chest). Even with my AA cup I still wore medium sized shirts and looked pretty balanced except for no cleavage. Trouble is, because of the barrel-chest I can essentially never get cleavage anyway, but I feel like my BA makes me look very broad.
I have definitely grown more pleased of my TT since becoming pregnant. I can hardly even see my belly button scar. It is nice and faded white.
Ann-mmmm pear and blue cheese is a match made in heaven
Greetings Thursday Peeps
A lovely sunny day here except I am up to 146. Not good. I did not eat poorly yesterday other than a few Andes mints and a piece of Mexican fancy candy that wasn't that good. Mainly I had a slothful day. I did a lot of getting tax forms printed and completed and similar work for the gallery and my mom's estate but the result of all the butt-sitting was a sore hip so I took some advil and took a nap. Dinner was some hamburger and mashed cauliflower. Very good but I dished out what I thought was an appropriate bariatric portion and it turned out to be too much.
Hey all, check out the Lonely Planet web site. They have chosen our area as the #1 must see place in the USA due to all the redwoods. A hiker's paradise.
well, I guess the Olympics start soon. I always love the opening and closing ceremonies plus the skating. We will have to get the Tivo on double duty so DH won't miss his Viking and other essential shows.
Devon, I wish I had a prescription for you to get a little more sleep. When I was much younger I did without sleep a lot and eventually my body rebelled. I got fatter and fatter and would sleep later and be late to work which did not get me in trouble because of what I did. My advice is to "sleep on it" LOL.
BB, all the best on your doctor visit. Exciting times ahead! I sure hope you are not sick or its something minor. I swear by zinc lozenges for a cold.
Ann, love your story about small town life and the car battery. I have had similar experiences in our dinky town. Kindness indeed goes a long way and what goes around comes around. Bosc pear and blue cheese! Fabulous.
Cecily, hoping for good results for your dad. Waiting can be so hard.
Well take care all. I am off to face the paper pile. But first, more you-know-what. Diane S
