I was thinking it would be an added incentive too...

Good morning!

Still logging. Last night was an accountability challenge because I kept getting up for "just a little more." What I am looking for in that repetitive action I may never know.

On yesterday's hike, I came to an intersection whi*****luded a sign. Signs are almost unheard of in this maze of trails. It said that the other trail isn't well maintained, very steep, dangerous, and almost all should avoid it.

Well, how could I resist such a siren call? I turned and up up up I went. It wasn't long before I was praying for deliverance. Where is a bear to eat you when you need one?

Then, literally out of no where, a superhero passed me. She was too speedy for me to see her clearly, but I would guess that she was 10 years my senior. A few minutes later, another superhero, this time a man passed me with a comment "I am constantly following her. I am constantly trying to keep up." I love these types of encounters. You just never know what marvels you will see out in nature.

Later I read that trail is 1.5 miles up with 2200 ft gain.

About sleep, it is so easy for short-sleep to become a chronic, but unrealized, habit. I'm glad this group keeps reminding me to pay attention.

Peace, Hope, and 8 hours shut eye,

Shel

Love your hiking story, Shel! There is a lady who does fitness hikes in a few groups I'm part of who is 81 and has the longest stride, beautiful posture, and can walk for 15 miles with no troubles. I want to be her...

Shel, one could remember those two interactions for the rest of her life. What tiny but surely accurate glimpses into two lives!

And 2200 feet elevation gain in 1.5 miles ... Yowzah!

My Dad just texted that his preliminary urine test came back negative for cancer! His other tests and scans will be Thursday at Mayo, but I had to pass along the early good news...

Thank you Ann! I've learned you have to rejoice any time you hear something good with this terrible disease. His doctors told him over a year and hal*****hat he didn't have 5 years left so any good news is news worth celebrating!
