Good morning, mates!
This morning I realized my scale hasn't been transmitting to its app because I changed internet providers and I hadn't thought to update its wifi. I should have suspected something because it was no longer giving me a weather report.
So, even tho it has been months since a transmission, updating it became my #1 thing to do so that I could get a naked weight into the app. But, besides wifi, it needed to update its software, etc so there was a Process.
This crowd knows that I would NEVER weigh with coffee on board so the whole time was a push-pull between which was more important: naked morning weight for the app. Or coffee. Anyway, it is all done and I now have weather report of rain in morning and rain in afternoon. As if.
This is the best example ever of why we don't want every appliance in the house connected to wifi.
Paula, hope DS1 can harness some of that manic energy for the good. Liz, I would rather sleep in the light with noise than something on my face/ears. Ann, I rather like the energy of a snow day in an area that doesn't have the tools to manage snow. Is it pretty, like frosting? Or just a mess?
DianeS, I am coming to your neck of the woods at the end of March. Rain in the Redwoods sounds lovely. Will PM you about potential dates so we can gaze at the Fresh Fudge sign together.
Let's all do something nice for ourselves today,
Shel

Good morning ! Quick check in between therapy work and my noon board meeting. I've been asked to sit on the board of a community mental health service organization. The agenda was sent two weeks in advance. If they make efficient use of the time and align with their mission and by laws in practice, not just on paper, then this is a contribution I am willing to make. If not, it is not for me.
Positive energy to all of you !

Greetings Monday Mavens
145 today. I did a small amount of off plan eating during Super Bowl but not too bad. We enjoyed the game - a cliff hanger.
Ann, glad you are stabilizing eating and sleep. Grieving is indeed hard work. There are so many things you are "expected" to do when you sometimes just want to curl up in a ball. Good on you for doing your walking and taking care of yourself. I am not smirking at snow drama. Been there done that.
Hey Paula, I have have taken crazy pills for 25 plus years. Went through some rough stuff getting the right one, So here is hoping yours works out. And hoping your son gets things together. Good things start with the will to do something.
Hey Shel, looking forward to meeting up with you. As mentioned, we have a wedding to attend in Long Beach March 24 but should otherwise be around. I still have not found the missing hike book. Duh.
Good on you Diane O for serving on a board of a worthy organization. Hopefully they will be organized enough to work through agenda. Having it two weeks ahead is a good start.
Well the kiln opens today and though I don't have much in it, its always fun to see what others have done.
Liz, glad you have the lights figured out. My DH sleeps with a mask. Also a mouth piece so he won't grind his teeth. Also he wears a hat since he is bald.
Well the dogs and DH are all taking the mid morning nap. Time for more coffee for me. Diane S

I only just glossed over today's posts. Feeling tired.
DH and I had a good weekend. Friday night DH, DSD and I went to a Mexican food dinner with friends. We also bought a couple of Persian rugs. Totally unintended because I was actually just looking for an inexpensive rug for the nursery but somehow ended up buying two large beautiful rugs and spending much more than I intended. Still, very happy with the purchase as they were an eventual want. DSD insisted on rolling them out immediately. Declared it made our living room more "homey." I'm glad she feels that way. The people we bought them from were from Iran and so lovely and warm. It was quite the cultural experience to hear them explain the different patterns and what's more rural versus urban style, and the different patterns associated with different cities and the vegetable dyes and the knotting. I was thrilled when DH felt the same way and commented "I wish we could befriend these people. They seems so genuine and it was so fun learning about something totally different."
On Saturday we spent the day shopping and it was fairly unsuccessful, but enjoyable nonetheless. I wanted to find the perfect bringing home baby outfit but I don't think anything will match what's in my head. A rocker is the last piece of furniture needed for the nursery. I really want a piece that looks somewhat "elegant" but ohmygosh I'm tempted to just go with comfort. Why does it always have to be either or?! We then went to a Brazilian steakhouse with friends and a comedy club. PSA: Get ye to a comedy club!!!!! How can anyone leave there unhappy? Ok, there are a few comedians who take things to far, get too dark, pick on one group too much. But for the most part I find that as long as they're equal opportunity with groups they pick on, I enjoy live comedy and it always makes me feel better!
Yesterday was pretty low-key. Went to a superbowl party. But I am not the biggest NFL watcher. And not drinking when everyone else imbibes is a bummer.
Today is quite cold here.
Go with a comfortable rocker where YOU can curl up and your arms can be supported as they cradle that hungry, teething, unsettled sweet daughter as her weight increases. My "baby" is 29 today, and I still remember those nights like yesterday, with a smile and a tender ache.

Listen to DianeO. There where be times where the only comfort available is from that rocker. You do not want to have to wander around, looking for comfort when you are short on sleep and desperate. You cradle baby. Rocker cradles you.

Me three on comfort for the rocker. I can be all about having the perfect looking piece, but for this one you need comfort.
BUT on the issue of perfect pieces it sounds like you made a great choice on the rugs. I bet they are beautiful!

I agree with the others to go for comfort with the rocker. You will probably keep it in the nursery or in your room, no?
Regarding the going home outfit. Don?t stress this at all. Even my 8lb 5 oz. babies swam in their newborn clothes! I bought a special outfit for the first two and am not sure either wore it. Spend the money on an outfit for the 3 mo. pictures! Will you have newborn pics done? I highly recommend it and they work best the first week of life! No clothes needed (usually)
So with all our chatter on fasting, did anyone notice that there is a new article about it on OH (I haven't read it yet)?
