Weight: 130.0
Macros: Cals - 1,624, carbs - 200, fats - 49, protein - 95, fiber - 31
Veggies/Fruits (goal 8): 9
Sleep (goal 8 hours): 6.5
Exercise: Walked

Yesterday's 9 servings of V/Fs came from carrots, spring lettuces, cherry tomatoes, black beans, onions, mushrooms, bamboo shoots, more carrots and some tasty mangos. I am gradually eating more, which has halted the recent weight loss.

I'll spare you details, but grieving takes so much energy and goes so slowly.

Yesterday morning I walked in town with friends. It snowed here yesterday, so if the pool is closed this morning (and, yes, I hear some of you smirking at Southern snow-drama), I'll drive into town and walk there.

This morning I feel much better after 6.5 hours of sleep than I did yesterday with only 3 hours.

Today's theme: One thing at a time.

Glad your weight is stabilizing a bit Ann! And mangos.....yum, one of my very favorite fruits!

149 OTD today. Higher than yesterday but normal daily fluctuation again. Calories were low at 966 with 119 C, 30 F and 75 P. Still no exercise. Booooooo!

Started taking my "crazy" pill (thanks Shel, it makes it kinda fun to poke fun at myself) yesterday and I of course had the side effects of drowsiness and lack of appetite. Now, my science brain KNOWS that I wouldn't really start having side effects 4 hours after taking the first dose, but I won't complain if lack of appetite continues!

Work today. It is my turn to come in late for low census but I'm not sure when they need me (forgot to look at the patient schedule on Friday before I left). I'll have to call my co-workers first thing when they open and then if it looks busy, hop right in my car to get there as it takes 30-40 minutes!

Hope those of you that are football fans enjoyed the game. I didn'****ch any of it, not even the commercials. I did however stay up to watch the special "This is Us" episode, love that show!

DS#1 must be in more of a manic cycle with his bipolar. Came into my office all excited about his new plan to get healthy (he has a BMI of 40). He wants to get back on a regular daytime sleeping schedule, start exercising and lose weight. I printed him off a food plan from My Daily Plate https://www.choosemyplate.gov/MyPlate-Daily-Checklist (it is the same website I use to compute food plans for my patients.) and I showed him how to use My Fitness Pal. I don't have high hopes that he will do much with any of it, but at least he seems motivated for the time being. We added up his credit card expenditures from stealing my credit card and they were just over $400. While that is not good, it could have been much worse. Thankfully the fear of getting caught (which he eventually did) kept the spending on the lower side!

My Dad is doing better and might be able to go home from the hospital today.

I have my counseling appointment set for tomorrow. Self care.....here I come!

Have a great Monday everyone! I will try and check in later and see how everyone is doing!

Paula, that's ALL good news (in my book). Especially the self care part for you. Congrats! :)

I'm glad that you are taking care of yourself. Those highs with bipolar can sometimes seem so positive until they aren't... It's good that DS's internal conscience stopped him from too much spending on your card.

Hi Paula, this is Shel, calling from Dr OH, she asked that I check in with you to see how you are doing with the crazy pill start. Lack of appetite and drowsiness in the first 4 hours? LOL. You are not imagining it! There are serotonin receptors all over the body and the cymbalta begins to tickle them right away. These are start up side effects, which might last hours to several days. Unless you are Dave, then they will last forever.

Good job moving forward with the counseling! And, don't forget to do something you enjoy today!

Day 2 of the medication. Was hungry around 11 so ate a protein bar but now my lunch just looks yuck so I'm going to pass. I could get used to the lack of appetite for sure! Don't feel too tired today (at least not yet). Hmmmm, something I enjoy. Not sure I will find it at work!

Glad that the drowsiness isn't as bad today. I am alway envious when peeps tell me their appetite is supressed.

Were you warned that SNRI's are associated with weight gain over the long run? They are. It isn't thought to be anything beyond calories in/calories out imbalance but something to keep in mind.

Ok, look for something you enjoy outside of work. Maybe something between work and home? I know that travel is pretty iffy right now but is there a swanky hotel nearby that you and Ben could enjoy? Maybe with a spa?

Not sure if a swanky hotel would appeal to Ben and I know a spa would not! If I didn't just have basal cell carcinoma last year and am seeing the dermatologist again tomorrow to check out another spot, I would go to a tanning bed! I know they are bad for you but they are nice and warm!!!!!! I guess I will have to settle for a soak in boy's bathroom - complete with their clothes filled floor and stinkyness (not as relaxing as I might want!)

Weight 117.2 (unchanged), calories 1674. Hopefully my weight won't creep up some more tomorrow as a result of eating yesterday. I did well through the main meal, but then had a piece mango Key lime pie, an extra piece of cornbread and some more wine. The pie and cornbread need to disappear from the house.

Ann, one thing at a time is a good motto right now. It is good to hear that your eating and sleeping are improving. I think that sometimes just doing the things you have to moves you forward ultimately to a place where you can cope better.

So I put a new (bright) nightlight near the bathroom and discovered that the battery light I had previously installed can be left on all the time if the switch is in a different position. DH thought it was an improvement. Though yesterday he said it was my fault that he was having night wandering problems and was because I put the two bedroom lights on a switch. Kind of nonsensical but he said this to a friend and told him that he was going to speak to me about it. He did, and though I knew his hypothesis didn't make sense I told him I was going to make changes to the lighting (which of course I had already planned). The only problem is that I kept waking up thinking that the sun was coming up (I have a hard time sleeping when there is light and/or noise). I guess I'll have to get used to it or maybe wear an eye mask. I do wear earplugs for the noise issue. DS wears an eye mask, but I never have.

Anyway, today is supposed to be a nice warm day. Too bad the Patriots lost, but the Eagles played well and deserved the win. Have a marvelous Monday!
