Liz, my heart goes out to you. Birthdays, anniversaries, etc., can trigger memories and emotions that can be overwhelming. February was the month that all 4 of us in my birth family were born. My mom and dad were at the beginning of the month, two days apart. Though it's been many years since my mom died, way too young, and more than 5 since my dad died, those days can still be difficult.

Have you tried Smooth Move tea for constipation? I have found it to be quite helpful. I also have issues with nuts. I will keep eating them until they're gone or I feel ill, whichever comes first. I try to convince myself that they're good for me and have protein, but the fact is they can trigger me. Sigh.

Today was the usual work, etc. They're re-configuring our office space tomorrow, so this afternoon we all spent time moving things around. It felt good, as my job is sedentary. Tomorrow we'll work in conference rooms, then spend time putting everything back together.

Food continues to be within boundaries. I've been toying with trying intermittent fasting, along with continuing to eat low-carb. My boss, who had RNY 8 or 9 years ago, and gained a lot of the weight back, has been following such a plan since after Christmas, and has lost 30 lbs. Another person in the office is doing the IF a bit differently, but is losing as well. Both of them have said they feel fine and it hasn't been hard. They have also been eating healthy foods, as well. I delayed eating today, and did ok, though I was quite hungry. I'm not sure about this, as I don't want to go on some fad diet. I also know the danger of getting too hungry - eating everything in sight. However, the little I've read about IF and the results I'm seeing in others, it sounds like it may not be a crazy fad, but rather a viable option. It's recommended to go slowly and gradually increase the fasting time. I'm just going to experiment for a few days to see where it leads to. One day at a time...

Well, it's time to go off to bed. Hugs to all! Mary

A dietician I work with won't give approval to anything that stinks of fad. She specifically said recently that IF isn't necessarily a fad, there is some evidence that it is helpful for weight loss. So, not crazy.....as you said, a viable option.

It's so late it's almost tomorrow! The hike yesterday was good and the movie, The Greatest Showman, was even better. I liked it a whole lot more than I thought I would. Highly recommended. Today was Pilates which is getting progressively harder (but I'm hanging in there) and my painting class, which I'm really enjoying. Food is marginally back on track - could be better, could be worse.

My Dad's scans/appts at Mayo have been rescheduled for February 8th.

Aside from that, all is calm in my corner of the universe. I hope the same calmness finds all of you too

I have had a couple of nights lately that I woke from a sound sleep and can not remember what house I am in. Very confusing. Odd how awakenings transport us. I have never lost someone I was close to. My family is not a close knit family. I am closer to DW s family than mine. Anniversaries of anything connecting to your eldest DD make you miss her even more.
