Weight 117.6, calories 2005 (if I got everything - some big night eating before bed...). Need to rein it in today!

Today is laundry, bills, errand and small project day as it is supposed to rain this afternoon. Hopefully DH will be functioning well today. His communication has been very off the last couple of days.

The craft fair in Venice was great. We got this to put in our garden just outside our lanai:

Have a surprisingly calm Sunday!

Weight down again. I'm going to find pie today. Or carrot cake. Yeah, carrot cake. That's the ticket.

Yesterday I went on a short (2.5 mile) hike with friends at a little state park I'd never been to and didn't know about. Needless to say, I enjoyed it immensely. I don't have Shel's mountains to climb (sigh), but I'm going to find the tallest, steepest places in Missouri and go climb those suckers.

And on that topic ... Appalachians, anyone?

Yesterday's 8 servings of V/Fs came from carrots, lettuce, tomatoes, sweet onions which I caramelized (O.M.G.!), black beans (in a spicy black bean veggie burger), bamboo shoots, more carrots, mushrooms, greens, and the perennial blueberries.

This morning's meditation and sun salutations were peaceful and joyful. What a beautiful home we have made.

Today's Theme: Notice what helps. Do more of that.

P.S. This morning I found an interesting and useful essay for doctors who support patients in grief at the National Council for Biomedical Information site. Might be of interest to some of you--"Bereavement in Adult Life" at https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC1112778/

P.P.S. Liz, I love your beautiful garden statue.

Only had 2 seconds to scan before heading out and saw Appalachians. I say yes.

Very interesting article. At the end it mentioned support from those who have been through the same type of grief. I found Compassionate Friends to be more helpful than a general hospice grief group. But after a while I did move on. There were people who had been participating for 10+ years, many of them whose children committed suicide (so hard to cope with that). One woman said her grief was so profound that she wished her son had not been born. That shocked me as I always felt so lucky to have had Elise in my life even though I missed her so much.

But overall, an excellent and thought-provoking article for the health profession. I think many of them have a really tough time dealing with grieving patients.

Liz, Great statue, I want this Sunday to be so calm it will surprise me.

Ann, "Today's Theme: Notice what helps. Do more of that." I could not agree more.

No wt.

Have a couple of things to finish up here in the woods then planing on taking the dogs to the house and going to see Baby Lola tomorrow. They discharged DD#2 home quickly. I guess that is a good thing.

More later, David

Supah Sunday to ya all!

I declare myself healthy. Worked out this morning, will get Buster on a walk, later, I hope. Clean up my stuff in house.

Still tracking in MFP, Paula! I wondered why calories were so high yesterday and then realized I forgot to take out my planned snowshoe eats. In a dysfunctional way, it was nice to have some sort of gastric distress going on yesterday. It reminded me of the first few months after VSG when body didn't want food but my head did. (Chop off her head!)

Appalachian Trail: who's interested? If you are, what months? Do you have a preference of what state? In IRL, I have many moving parts to work around but I believe they CAN be worked around but it is helpful if I declare my intentions to workmates and family earlier than later.

So, off the top of my head, what DOESN'T work is June 15-30.

I am thinking long weekend plus a few extra days. Not necessarily a full week but who knows.

I am particularly interested in the Smokey Mtn's but that is just on my mind and my mind is flighty and more than willing to go elsewhere. Of note, I have also never been to Vermont and I hear it is lovely.

Location might driving timing or visa versa. For example, early June in Smokey's might be quite different than Vermont.

I can't remember Ann's theme but I think it is something along the lines of do more of what makes you feel good. I like that. I'll do that.

Hug your skinny, Shel

Declaring my intentions, too.

Smokies would be convenient for me, since I'd probably drive there. But I could also fly to a trailhead farther north.

I don't currently have anything significant booked for June or July. However, August is likely to fill up with friends who will want me to join them at various shores.

Well, those peanut butter filled pretzels showed up big time on the scale today. I'm reigning it in today too...

I had to throw out some trail mix (making sure to empty it out of the bag into the trash so I couldn't retrieve it). Sigh...

I bought peanut butter pretzels a week ago, too. Why don't they come in bags of 5? And don't get me started on the ones that come in barrels.

When me, Paula and DianeO started on this forum, there was a vet, Linda, aka Spencerella who was posting regularly. (LINDA!! COME SAY HI). She was full of good thoughts/analogies. Linda would do better at describing but she hasn't posted for a while so I will try.

One analogy described the difference between WL eating and maintenance eating like a playground. You know how a playground has equipment suitable for different age groups? In WL, our playgrounds were really quite limited. In maintenance, your playground gradually expands.

Personally, I sometimes find myself on playground equipment that is too advanced for me. When I am at my best, I recognize I can't manage and throw out the peanut butter pretzels and go back to playground equipment that I safely enjoy. When I am at my worst, I end up getting rid of the peanut butter pretzels but eating them more quickly. (Oh, the humanity!)
