There are web services where you can sign up to be a dog walker or take care of a dog for a few days. I've had great luck with Rover.com. Wag! is another. They may not work well in rural areas, but I've seen a bunch of people on there to offer dog walking/boarding who for whatever reason don't want a full time pet, but enjoy short interactions with them.
I've thought about baby rocking but not dog sitting/rocking. I need to look into both! The feel of a new baby in your arms! Or a doggie to pet! I could go for that.

I really am sorry that it has been so long since I posted. I have written several post that have not been posted because before I could post I would go to sleep. And I can not keep up with you all.
Last time I weighed I was down 2 to 241. We will see if it stays. Not sticking to my plan very well. Did half the alcohol and reduced only a third on nuts and yogurt. A decline on the scales is very welcome.
Insurance came through on an estimate. It was more than expected. That is nice for a change. I took some tools and a little bit of material to the house to begin on it. Living in 2 places is confusing and I do not have Alzheimer's yet.
We are all getting over what bugs we had. It was not flu. I still have a stuffy nose but I will take that over the flu any day.
Rocking the granddaughter is still every morning that I am in the trailer in the woods. I am smitten by this little girl. Visibly to others smitten. I asked DW why and she said maybe for the same reason she has because she is too. We have cared for hundreds of children and I can only think of 2 that melt me into a puddle. I was too young with my own children. I told them they were cheated with a good raising because I was just a kid. DD#2 is due any day now.
Took mom to retina specialist 2 days ago. New bleeding. Injected the eye but he said our best hope is to only prevent further degeneration. He said it would not improve her vision. Her vision has declined over the past 6 months. She could read on the 3rd line in one eye. Now she can not make out the big E on the 1st line.
Need to take a load of wet material out of the house to the dump to free up my trailer. Need the trailer empty to haul a new to us refrigerator. Maybe today. I am going to be busy today.
Ann, I swear we need bouncers surrounding periods of grief to prevent negative people from getting in our space. They could just put a chain up and turn certain people away. Madam X is RUDE, RUDE, RUDE. On so many levels.
Paula, hope your rate is under control. DS#2 looks sharp all dressed up.
Shel, Hope you feel better and by the time REI reschedules the hike. Favorite pie is coconut cream. I make birthday pies. For my FIL chocolate meringue and pecan for my MIL and my mom.
Diane S, Back problems are funny when you have it and then you wake up one morning and it is almost gone. I reached across a bed in an ER one time for a 4x4 gauze pad and almost froze in place with pain. Left almost as quick. Hope your trip does not set you back any.
Diane O, puppy training / classes sounds intense.
Devon, So glad you have a positive out look about your parents. Wish I could replace the feelings I have for some better ones. They were / are starkly black / white thinkers. No room for others opinions and certainly not mine. I spent the majority of my childhood wishing they had stopped with my older brother. It was not fun, nurturing or loving. I left at 16 to summer school and never returned. Wait I did return. We lived with them as adults for 3 months with my children. My kids view that as a dark time in their childhood. Sad. Now I digress.
Cecily, Love your lego photos. LEGO, Oh how many times I have stepped on one of them in the night walking to the bathroom. We had buckets of them at one time when the kids had them. There were always strays.
BB, this is a time during pregnancy that feeling very tight is normal. You are doing great. You look stunning. Toss the scale under the bed out of sight. You will be at this phase a very short time.
Momsy55, Sometimes a hair cut is just a haircut. If she is anything like mine it will change a gazillion times. Cat scratch fever is real. Sometimes more involved. I never connected the song until nursing school.
Joey, your last post was wonderful. Hope for more days like that.
More later, David
