Ann, you have been on my mind. I have written at least 2 post that I did not post. Started out that I found my rhythm and finished my son s cabinet tops. Can not install all of them because fixture parts were sent wrong. Wednesday of last week I was going to take my mom to her dr appointment. I was planning on spending the night because she had a second appointment on Thursday. When I got to my house I was greeted with water flowing out of the cracks of the door threshold. 6 inches of water in the house. Insurance adjuster said I was the 16th claim that week. I was not the worst one. When he called the company to do water removal they said that all their equipment is out but they would send someone to look at it today. I have been working non stop to get the water out and the walls opened up. I have beadboard plywood walls. I called a plumber to come fix the leak and they said they were very busy fixing broken pipes and it would be 5 days. I put my plumber pants on and fixed the leak. My eating and alcohol consumption is off the charts. Bagels with cream cheese replaced nuts and yogurt because I was not planning on staying here but one night. Just grabbed what would comfort. Not a vegetable in sight. I know the alcohol is more than for pain control. I think the shock of it all is about to wear off. About 30 years ago we had an uninsured house fire. After the shock was over we realized it is all just stuff. Most of our stuff was in storage now so did not get wet but we do not have much in storage either. The big picture is this is just a house. It is a house that I recently finished and completely repainted. But it is still just a house. Went back to the shop in the woods yesterday. Back at the house today to meet with service master. Grand baby is sick. 6 confirmed cases of flu so they asked that we not bring her in. I need to be rocking her. More later. Seeking peace. David

You have had a lot of your plate David. As Ann would say, just breath (and hold that lovely calming grand baby).

Greetings Maintenance Sisters and Brothers

144.5 today. No gain = no pain. The rain rain rain is back back back. But its not heavy and not a storm. Just drizzle.

Dinner last night was tilapia plus mushy cauliflower. All white food. Not a Martha Stewart vision but tasted good. DH really seems to have super restriction now that he is off the carbs. Being home all day makes me want to snack and snack but most of the stuff is gone. I stirred some protein powder into my gy yesterday. It thickened up into paste and was like eating raw bread dough. Not good. I put way too much in. Do-over today.

Liz how could it be too cold in Florida? But after the walks I bet the coffee is extra good.

Hey Shel, come on down to the Redwoods. You can stay with us or I can tell you places. We are between Redwood National Park and Avenue of the Giants. Maybe my hike book will show up. We are going to a wedding in Southern Cal on March 24 but should be around otherwise.

BB, sounds like you have a little ballerina under construction. A March baby would be great. We all can't wait. What are your work - leave plans?

Today is MLK day which always makes me hopeful for future peace and harmony. But as I sit here at age 66, having plenty of memories of the Selma march and all the civil rights struggles, the assassinations, and all that happened, it makes me sad that we still have these battles before us and that the passing of an older generation has not resolved things. And the "Times Up" movement is finally getting some steam. Lets hope 2018 sees some progress in these areas.

Kiln opens today but I can't remember all that I might have in there.

New members, chime in and tell us about yourselves. We want to know you!

Peace and Joy. Diane S

I got on the scale today. As mentioned last week, I eat my way through illness. Perhaps, illnesses require calories? I don't know. Admittedly, I did consciously rein it in the past two days, but I was surprised to be down by 3 pounds today.

Today was my first day out of the house since Wednesday of last week. Shopping Costco on a holiday - not such a great idea. I was a bit tired afterwards, but had another errand that had to be done: I brought French Bulldog Krissy to meet a family who chose to bring her into their family. I'm glad I was able to do this for Krissy and for my friend who needed to place her, and for the family who took her in. (It is a younger family with twins in my classroom this year. I had the twins' uncle in 3rd grade some 20+ years ago and have known their father since he was 16. The mom has been a colleague, but at different sites for close to 20 years.)

Costco haul was mostly protein: rotisserie chicken, grilled boneless skinless chicken breasts, roasted turkey breast, eggs... Got some apples, bananas, Greek Yogurt (still not back to making my own...too busy...) and some PB. Perhaps this is indicative that I'm ready to back into a recovery mode. Funny, I don't even consider it "diet mode" or clean eating any longer. Plain and simple - recovery. "Hi, I'm Devon. I'm a Gluco-Carbo-choco-binge-a-holic." (Okay - That is going to a title for a post on the blog!)

Ann - Hugs, much love.
